So, are those rear fenders separate pieces on this kit? I assumed they were… -
I've been collecting those boxes since I saw you post about this before - they are a PERFECT size for most projects, great tip Tom! They're also a good container for if you need to dunk a body in the Purple Pond!

I've noticed the slow-shipping trend creeping in lately too. The last order I received took ten days to arrive but showed an ETA of four days when I ordered it. It didn't move for the first six of those days then suddenly started moving when it was 'received at post office'. Ditto another order I placed last week - seller provides a tracking number at 10pm at night 10 minutes after I order and calls it shipped, but it hasn't moved since last Wednesday. Lots of sellers are gaming the system by providing a tracking number as soon as possible so eBay thinks they're fast shippers, and then they take their sweet time to actually drop the thing off at the post office. I wish more of the model companies had deals with Amazon Fulfillment, or their own Amazon stores so that you could buy on there. Atlantis Models, for example, has an Amazon store but doesn't update it too often - so instead of purchasing on Prime with free 1-3 day shipping (that actually COMES in 1-3 days) I'll end up purchasing on eBay and waiting 10-15 for some lazy seller to finally get around to mailing the stuff I paid for -
My wife uses those and tosses the box! ?

Kinda - they’ll top out at around $50 on eBay sometimes, but more commonly they’re more in the $40 range, which means the sellers are probably making about the MSRP of what the new kits will be I’d imagine (after eBay / PayPal fees etc). If you think you’ll EVER build them, probably not worth trying to flip them if you’ll end up replacing them with the ‘reissue’ later anyway… -
Thanks fellas! A little more weekend progress… Got the front suspension put together, with that scratchbuilt steering rack that I made earlier, home made sway-bar and some machined shocks: The wheels aren’t glued on yet, but I wanted to make sure everything still fit right… Got the rear suspension handled too: Then got some clear on the body: Gave it a 24-hours in the dehydrator to bake: And it’s leveled out pretty nicely overnight! Far from perfect, but good enough that it’ll polish out nicely I think… And finally for today, shot the interior parts with Model Master light gray, with some white mixed in. The interior of the 1:1 car was white, but I wanted some distinction between the glossy bright white dash and the parts that are supposed to be leather, so I went for a slightly darker shade for these bits: Next up I’ll figure out the right color green for the cloth inserts on the seats to match the real one: More soon!

Thanks fellas! Making some progress at the bench again today - I’ve got plenty of little bits of detail that I want to add, but right now I’m trying to get everything prepped for primer and color before I blow through it all again and add all the interesting stuff. Did some work on the dash, first off - it’s actually not THAT far off the real car - looks pretty simple and basic, but so does the real one… Added some little missing details and machined an aluminum center for the wheel to match the 1:1’s: That white block on the steering column will be for the turn signal lever - still need to make that but that’s a pretty simple part… Spent some time getting the body straight - only part that needed more attention than normal is blending the grill to the fenders to lose the seam that isn’t present on the real car: And then when it was all straight on both sides, I shot the whole thing in black: Then four coats of Chezoom teal, thinned: Then finally Pearl + clearcoat to give the blue flip that the real one has: Once those have dried a few hours I’ll shoot some clear (unless I get distracted by the car show down the street and go to that instead…) - found an appropriate clear to use on this one! More soon!

When I first moved to NY maybe 15 years ago my one friend told me "if you move there you'll either end up homeless or a cab driver". (I never ended up being either, for the record, but I still think I could do a decent job of driving a medallion cab... ? )

Chip Foose kits.....

You're in luck... -
What are you thinking of using for suspension on this thing? The Testor's Alumacoupe might have some useful pieces...
-
Has anyone tried this stuff over acrylics? I’m curious as to how hot it is - that finish looks GREAT! Looks like it self levels really nicely! Anyone had any issues with it crazing styrene or anything like that?

I agree

GREAT news about the Rat Roaster! We were just discussing that on another thread this week! Looks like some AWESOME new parts in that kit too...I'll be buying a bunch of those I'm sure! Hoping those rear fenders are separate pieces? Odd that they put a picture of Vin Diesel as Dominic on the F&F 'Brian's Truck' pickup instead of, you know...Brian ?♂️ Maybe a licensing issue with Paul Walker's estate? Really enjoying seeing all these detailed close-up pics - thanks @niteowl7710! -
Sigh - * pulls out credit card * ? I think they've listed them incorrectly though - they're 1:32nd scale...
-
They could mix up the Tom Daniel C-cab design and the new Tweedy Pie van and make the Tweedy Pie Wagon! ?
-
Great news, thanks for the insight Tim! Found a better pic of that C-cab posted on Instagram: I love it!
-
Interestingly, this kit has the grill for a Model A on the parts tree - not sure if that was intended as an option part for THIS kit, or if it shared a parts tree with another of theirs...

Atlantis is quickly becoming my favorite kit manufacturer - they’re killing it lately! I wish they’d be more up to date with putting new releases on their Amazon store so I can keep using up this stash of gift cards I’ve got here, but they’re bringing our so many great must-have kits! Keep it up, Atlantis, if you’re reading this!

On paper, this should’ve been a great kit. Boyd Coddington, hot rod wizard, a man with a real eye for styling, stance and proportion (not to mention a killer paintjob) teams up with AMT. And what we got was this: Oof. Still, nothing a change of wheels won’t help immensely - another one for my Boyd collection that I’m slowly piecing together via eBay

Some interesting new stuff that Atlantis has on display at the IPMS show this week. (Apologies to whoever posted them on Facebook - I saved them so I could remember to look later and now I can’t find who took them…) Anyone recognize that C-cab or the little blue tracknose roadster?
