  1. Ohhhhh, got any pics? I'd LOVE to see that!
  2. Me too! I'd LOVE one of these at sensible prices! I wonder if the tooling still exists?
  3. Interesting! I didn't know all the history behind the Revell UFO - thanks again Brett!
  4. I think it has been re-alcoholled since, yeah. All I meant by my comment before was that if RoG WAS worried about the theme of this Rod, they could pretty easily rename it to the Tank Rod or whatever and suddenly it's more PC, if they were worried about that stuff...
  5. Nothing much to stop them rebranding it the "Army Rod" or something if they were THAT worried, right? I mean, we did have THIS a few years ago so that kids weren't inspired to drink entire barrels of beer after building a model kit
  6. Fascinating to hear that TD kits are so popular too - I figured us showrod builders were the minor-ist of minorities - cool to find out that they STILL sell well 50-60 years on!
  7. This is INCREDIBLY exciting news! Thank you for sharing!! I'll be picking a bunch up, for sure!
  8. Oh wow - LOVE projects like this, with all the scratchbuilding! Outstanding work!
  9. Me too! They've got my $$$ if they reissue ANY of that stuff - even if I've got it already I'll pick up extras to support them
  10. I tried to go to the website link he lists in his profile but it wouldn't work http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/profile/19855-pjtoys/
  11. Scratchbuilding a C-Cab showrod:
  12. I agree - if this was done with the salt technique I'd try using a finer grain of salt, personally That said, if you're having fun - good!
  13. As a Miata owner, I'd LOVE to drive one of it's baby brothers sometime. What a cool car - and a GORGEOUS build! Stunning!
  14. That's right, yeah, Richard Carroll tires! As used on such bananas builds as this: And this: You COULD narrow them too, but look at the fun you'd be missing out on ?. Definitely not ones for the accuracy purists (which I admittedly AM sometimes myself...)
  15. Ohhh, that Butyrate tube is just the kind of thing I was thinking! Brilliant! My local Michaels stocks Plastruct products, they might be able to order this stuff for me...thanks again Bill!
  16. Great advice, thank you Bill! I never considered acrylic tube, that's a great idea. I like the banding idea too, that's a great one!
  17. That's a great idea for a mild widening, yes! I never thought of that. WOuld be pretty easy to add a scale inch or four that way, good thinking. What would you do for something THIS wide though (cue evil laugh)?
  18. Looking for some ideas and advice here - what do you guys like to use to widen a set of wheels for a wider tire? An identical wheel makes sense - but it seems a waste to slice up perfectly good wheels if there's a scratchbuilding material that would work. Anyone ever seen a hollow Plastruct bar or similar that's a large enough diameter to help with a job like this? Any good ideas that you all like to use if you need to add some width to a rim?
  19. That's an old Boyd Coddington build - I really like it too!
  20. I'd never heard of 'Splash' paint before - where did you get it? Who makes it? What sort of paint is it?
  21. Yep, right near that strip of bars and restaurants there - it's usually parked there. There's a cool 70's Chevy truck that's always within a block or two: Plus this bitchin' VW: And this too: Pretty good neighbourhood for cool cars!
  22. That same car was red a month or so ago:
  23. I'd LOVE to see this one come back!
