  1. I agree - if this was done with the salt technique I'd try using a finer grain of salt, personally That said, if you're having fun - good!
  2. As a Miata owner, I'd LOVE to drive one of it's baby brothers sometime. What a cool car - and a GORGEOUS build! Stunning!
  3. That's right, yeah, Richard Carroll tires! As used on such bananas builds as this: And this: You COULD narrow them too, but look at the fun you'd be missing out on ?. Definitely not ones for the accuracy purists (which I admittedly AM sometimes myself...)
  4. Ohhh, that Butyrate tube is just the kind of thing I was thinking! Brilliant! My local Michaels stocks Plastruct products, they might be able to order this stuff for me...thanks again Bill!
  5. Great advice, thank you Bill! I never considered acrylic tube, that's a great idea. I like the banding idea too, that's a great one!
  6. That's a great idea for a mild widening, yes! I never thought of that. WOuld be pretty easy to add a scale inch or four that way, good thinking. What would you do for something THIS wide though (cue evil laugh)?
  7. Looking for some ideas and advice here - what do you guys like to use to widen a set of wheels for a wider tire? An identical wheel makes sense - but it seems a waste to slice up perfectly good wheels if there's a scratchbuilding material that would work. Anyone ever seen a hollow Plastruct bar or similar that's a large enough diameter to help with a job like this? Any good ideas that you all like to use if you need to add some width to a rim?
  8. That's an old Boyd Coddington build - I really like it too!
  9. I'd never heard of 'Splash' paint before - where did you get it? Who makes it? What sort of paint is it?
  10. Yep, right near that strip of bars and restaurants there - it's usually parked there. There's a cool 70's Chevy truck that's always within a block or two: Plus this bitchin' VW: And this too: Pretty good neighbourhood for cool cars!
  11. That same car was red a month or so ago:
  12. I'd LOVE to see this one come back!
  13. You don't have much luck with paint, huh?
  14. This is the stuff I got most recently: Works great (even though it says "Cleaner" on the label, which concerned me a little...)
  15. Ohhhh, interesting....I assumed it was a Hemi from the valve covers, but apparently not! No wonder I couldn't find a reference pic of a Hemi that matched it
  16. I found this Hemi in a bunch of old parts, and I'm using it on a build I'm doing...but anyone know which kit this thing came from? Interestingly, I stripped the chrome on those rocker covers and the plastic underneath was yellow rather than orange so they may not be the right ones for this engine...any clues anyone?
  17. I was confused before I got here, so it worked out ok ?‍♂
  18. Can't wait to see more, Bob!
  19. Sounds sensible - thanks so much for the tips, buddy!
  20. One more question - I actually ordered some of these paints after seeing your build. How durable is the finish? I want to use one of them on an engine block, but I'm not sure how it'll stand up to being handled as I assemble it, wire it, etc...
  21. I LOVE seeing your work, Bill. That one in the post above is AWESOME - is there a build thread for that somewhere?
