Beautiful scratchbuilding! Got any tips for assembling stuff like that trans tunnel from sheet? Do you leave tabs for the seperate pieces to glue to, or fold them and use less pieces? I'd love to hear more about how you did those

I really LOVE Deuces, but I've never really built anything earlier from Henry's range, so I figured a T would be a good place to start filling out my collection of pre-war cars. I picked this kit up on eBay - it's a 2 in 1, but I likely won't use many of the optional parts (they're pretty 70s looking, which is probably appropriate for the age of this kit) I'm gonna go for a loose early 60s look here I guess - no particular direction or concept in mind, just the kinda simply modified look that someone could've built in the 60s without a tonne of aftermarket parts. That said, I wanna get a NICE low stance, get this thing in the weeds within reason too. I wanted to try a suicide style rear end - I'm not sure if it's prototypically correct but I thought it'd be cool to have the leaf spring hanging out of the back of the frame so I 'L'd it (it's not a zee shape!) to help get the back end down to account for the much smaller wheels that I'll be running: These wheels didn't come in the kit but I'm guessing theyre similar era and also AMT judging by the distinctive light blue plastic The rears needed some custom spacers to get the rear axle width right so I used a couple of sizes of styrene rod to make the axle width how I wanted I had a cool drum brake part in my parts box that I kinda liked, but I only had a single one, so I resin cast a couple in a simple putty mold and I'll use those on the front where the brake detail will be a little more visible Quick mock up of the chassis and engine - I wanna go with the stock 4 banger - but maybe warmed up a little somehow? More progress as I make it...excuse the rough mocking up so far but I'm trying to get everything kinda roughed in before starting all the clean up before paint

This is GREAT advice. Look at every part carefully. Should that mold line be there? Does it fit properly to the part next to it? What does the 1:1 part look like? Take your time, ask questions - and remember - dont rush! One you've finished building it, you dont get to build it any more!

Just done the wiring - some of it anyway - I made the magneto to better match the one in the reference pics I found (although this car ran a few different ones appartently) - pretty pleased with how it came out so far!

Great tip! Thanks Curt! In the meantime, I've been busy painting and Alclading in various different hues of metal - I still have a little work to do on the blower assembly before it's done but we're getting somewhere anyway... I wish I could find something as good as Alclad that will stand up to a little handling - this seems very fragile and easily ruined but I'll maybe do a search of the forum and see what I can find!

I bought a lot of '36 parts from Evilbay, and whilst there's not quite a whole car there's enough to make me to start mocking up and seeing what's what... This is the AMT body - not sure what the wheels and tyres are from but they look too nice to be AMT ones. Not SUPER keen on that grille, but its the only one in the box so I'm gonna make it work... This thing is gonna take some serious amounts of bodywork! Here's the kit chassis - I didnt like the moulded in exhaust so I carefully scribed the floor to remove the detail that I didnt want... A quick mock up with the front and rear axles in place: There wasn't an engine included in the parts lot I bought, so I made a mould from another AMT Flathead block and cast it: And that's where we're at so far! No real concept or idea - just use whatever I can from the parts that came with it and making or kitbashing everything missing!

OK, it's taken over a week to get the next tiny detail added - and I mean TINY... Tiny working dipstick! I used a syringe tube for the outer part and some 0.2mm craft wire (it took a few attempts to find something that would fit in the tiny pipe) for the stick itself...really pleased with this little piece. Took AGES! The only problem is, the wire's so thin I keep bending them when I either insert or remove them...I've had to make 4 already! This one's staying in for the moment until I've got the patience to make another

Well, there's so much show that they closed the subways and roads and I couldnt open my front door....not that I'm complaining at some forced model time! Laid some base brown then Alclad on some of the moving parts and then wethered them back down like so: Need to let the enamel dry lest I put a great big fingerprint in them but the axles and engine are ready to be glued in - I might even finish a model this weekend at this rate

As a 'New Yawker' I kinda like the idea of using local plates on my builds - I know I could print my own but I really like the quality of decals versus trying to print my own - so anyone know any kits that include them on the decal sheets? Any leads would be much appreciated guys!

Well, the weather outside is frightful so staying in for the weekend seemed pretty delightful - beats driving around in this! I'm kidna tired of the cold weather already, so what better than a box-stock build to pass a snowed-in weekend? I was daydreaming of the beach, and a little sunshine so i figured this Lindberg kid would make a cool surf-rod - New York style! I wanna try the salt rusted technique so I figured this'd be a cool one to try it out on - any T that's been subjected to our East Coast air for nearly 100 years would definitely be showing some pretty heavy rusting, even if it had been painted at least once since as I figured this one might have been. I started off with some rattlecan flat brown, then added some highlights and lowlights of different shades Then, a healthy sprinking of salt: Then, some bodycolour over the whole mess, allowed to dry for 15-20 minutes before brushing the extra salt off LOVE this technique!!! Onto the running gear!
