I think Roadkill's still on, and on it's regular schedule - you can choose to watch them early with their paid service but they still put them up for free online

A Coke bottle, or similar, will shrink like heatshrink when hit with a heatgun - if I was trying to do this I'd try and make a little wooden buck with some louvres on, shrink the bottle over it and cut the panel out. The plastic wouldnt be a million miles from scale thickness and an Exacto blade would open them up real easy. I used to make front and rear wings for 1/10th scale model R/C buggies that way - worked a charm!

Thanks David! Thats kinda what I was thinking too - I want it to be GOOD, but not dipped-in-clear-coat good Starting to piece the chassis together...

I used a Micromart polishing cloth set and some Tamiya polishing paste - I've got it pretty close I think, and I'm gonna add some Tamiya finishing wax and see how it all looks. I dont need it show-car shiney, but I dont want it all bumpy either.... In the meantime, a quick bit of fabrication to replace a bent, injector pin marked steering rack and I'm ready to paint the last couple of bits before assembly...

Just plain old Elmer's glue Mark - seems ok so far, although I'll admit I dont intend on handling the tub too much. Meanwhile, polishing chores continue here...I wish this paint had laid down a little smoother from the get go, but it's getting there...

Not much progress, I'm stuck on polishing duties at the minute. It's kinda getting there, slowly...

It looks like your masking is ok, and the design is cool - but it looks like some of the bascoat pulled when you removed the tape (did you key the surface and use some primer) and the paint application looks a little thick maybe? It may need several lighter coats maybe? Hope you don't mind some feedback - but I've done PLENTY of paintjobs I wasn't happy with and found that these things helped me, personally...

Thanks everyone! I need to give the paint a polish now that it's had a couple of days to set up, but in the meantime used a little embossing powder to give her some carpet Now to see how shiny I can get that orange-peely paint...

That's a great one! I've done that too! In fact, this whole thread is great! I'd love to hear more if anyone has any. I quite like using paperclips for things - theyre great for pinning parts together, making small metal brackets or lines - tonnes of possibilities!

Just trying an Alclad experiment - I didnt have any of their enamel base, but tried it over some of the same black lacquer that I painted the res tof the car with - came out great! I chromed the front axle, and the rear leaf - soon as this stuff dries I can get on with chassis assembly. The resin brake drums I'm going to use on the front were hole-ier than a Sunday so I've had to give them some putty but hoepfully I can prime them tomorrow and give them some steel Alclad
