  1. correct. also Louis Prima's wife until he sought the younger Gia Maione. five wives? momma mia!
  2. he sent an email that his internet is down i always wondered how that worked
  3. as long as we be gettin' all slippery, why don't more guys adorn their firewalls like this:
  4. i like that; thanks. there's a stipulation in the Rules which indicated driveshafts must be painted white. Q: was that considered a safety feature of some sort? i cannot fathom torque tubes being outlawed. i have been wrong before. aplenty. the '36 component would imply the builder was including a more better part on behalf of performance. i don't know if technically the gear ratio(s) would be different/ better suited for 'round & 'round, but i could use that as justification in my model world. or whirl. appreciate the suggestion.
  5. i have been trying to come up with some parameters so when this is finished and someone asks "why is this like that?" i'll have background information to draw on. if i use cars from the years 1932 until 1941 (so i can sneak in an AMT '41 Plymouth) and components from '32 to '49, i can use the cut off date of March 13, 1949 and it puts bookends on the stable of cars. this will keep me out of NASCAR territory although dangerously close. better to think "guys racing 'round at the local county fair" era. none of this is more deep than simply giving me parameters to operate. i already want an AMT '53 Ford pickup because it's such an iconic model and i've built several over aa lifetime. And i have a couple of RMCM engines i want to use up so they won't go in the estate sale after my ultimate demise. to date, i have a rules sheet from the early '50s from the California Roadster Association and the rules from the Okie Bowl hardtops: Okie Rules and i cannot say enough good things about all the posters on HAMB & Ford Barn that have helped me amass information in short time to get this moving. so i am loosely basing the restrictions on them and erring on the side of caution when necessary. i think both rules discourage quick change rear ends, and the local economy would not support such extravagant indulgences anyway. i mean, the three sponsors i have lined up are Hadacol Patent Medicines, Mason Jars & Rings, & Shinola Shoe Polish. none are them are going to spring for no hi-falutin' "quick changin' reah end" you think?
  6. well . .. . i didn't realize the Revell units were on the Keeler's Kustoms Yellow Fever Competition Coupe tree. so that's progress. i have a set of the RMCM buggy springs but my word are they - even to the point of carrying a warning on the instruction sheet - delicate. i will save those for something much lighter than a Revell '32 Ford 5w Jalopy. [perhaps something paired with a light chassis, bucket T roadster & V8 60 resin w/ jiggler & smith heads from ebay i have. ] i like the idea of sliding in a piece of brass to lend support. will continue to dig through my parts bin to see what i can come up with. thanks, sid
  7. thanks. i saw those but wanted the conventional buggy spring suspension. i could use it and cobble something up, but i assumed it would have been a popular enough component it would have been made x now. thanks, s.e.
  8. Q; is there a banjo rear end in 3D or resin available? thx
  9. so .... a picture of the part would be awesome. the wheel back with an off center boss [the casting or print] might also be a way to adjust the wheelbase to fit the body better in an instance where chassis/ axle(s) or other combination of parts needs a little tweaking. or twerking; depending on your suspension constraints. show us what you got! cost? availability?
  10. sturdy front axle
  11. OR .... perhaps the engine rests against the radiator, which in turn doesn't allow it to drop to the two-lane blacktop?
  12. i agree the instructions leave much to be desired. flathead engine seems to have a pin at the bottom of the waterpump/ generator belt casting. there should be a corresponding hole in the crossmember to accept it. transmission should tie in with the torque tube. looks like some imagination & centrifugal force may come into play to make the driveline rigid. here's what i'm basing my guess on; scroll down on the left for green 'download' box instructions: 1929 Ford Woody/Pickup, AMT/ERTL 6518 (1987)
  13. Q: is it just semantics, or is there a real difference of the types of paint between a guide coat and a primer coat? are they different or one in the same by different words?
  14. sound like an inventory of my "go-bag" no seasonal adjustment required for me.
  15. after holding the Revell body to the AMT '29 fenders [i had planned to separate the fenders to bring them closer] i came to the realization my memory was living an unreal expectation for the two companies' parts to be sympatico. maybe the AMT Double Dragster body would work. i binned the Revell body. i don't know if i would ever buy a DD again, but have the fenders set aside for another project: AMT '29 fenders & body plus Tamiya '37 Toyoda chassis & possible running gear connected to a RMCM Ardun head blown '53 Ford flathead. it's number 27 on my to-do list. wish me luck!
  16. completely off topic anecdote: when i worked in the carpenter's union 1978 or so, there was a guy whose neighbor died. the widow gave this guy her deceased husband's boots. maybe the spirits were at play. not only did the guy wear them, but one day when we were framing the second floor, this guy walks right out of one of the door openings and drops about ten feet to the ground. fortunately, or un, as you see fit, the fall ,nor sudden, stop seemed to faze him. he just got up, shook it off, and went about his business. i never wanted to work around him after that, and gave him wide berth if i saw him coming.
  17. for 23 $ you can be the tester. amazon's choice approved! Amazon.com: Uolor 3-Speed Cordless Mini Drill Pen, Rechargeable DIY Electric Hand Drill with 10 Small Drill Bits, Micro Drill Set for Jewelry Making Stone Plastic Resin Keychains : Tools & Home Improvement
  18. EDIT - for the insect pins post this modeler puts an excruciating amount of detail in his creations:
  19. since this is the first response i could find in my profile list, we'll put this right here. one of the fellows in the Ford Barn Forum suggested the best place to find information on "before NASCAR" jalopy racing would be from local history sources of the area which the tracks were located. he was spot-on correct, too. so after way too many videos, i thought this one might be a good bridge: oddly enough, i think the 1/2 & 1/2 number was on a car in the movie Red Dirt Rising .
  20. because he wants his product and hasn't gotten it yet. he could also sit back and ask others to try to get it for him either way is fine with me. but filing a compliant with the cc fraud division and the attorneys general office of consumer affairs works wonders. i got no dog in this fight. do whatever . . . .or nothing.
  21. the other foil might be a fan shroud, and no one would be able to see a 90 view of the engine/ radiator matchup. or could you shave down the crank pulley a few thousands to give light through? remember: only You can provide fan clearance! too many years back we were sidewall shingling a house. the goal is always to run a course straight through at the tops of the windows. doors didn't count because their head jamb height was always different. anyway, we prided ourselves for always trying to go one step further and in this case we had a good shot at hitting the tops of the gable end louvers with a course across, too. so the numbers [say] were 3 courses @ 5 1/2", and then 4 courses @ 5 3/4" and the last course would run straight across the top trip. kabahm! except i did the first gable [east] as instructed, and then we had lunch. after, i went to the west gable, and flipped the dimensions to 4 and 3. well; the last course still went across, but the shingles bumped into the bottom of the louver with a different margin of louver showing. poopy. so hat in hand i had to tell the boss before we went home for the day. anticipating a really quiet ride in the van for a half hour or so, he said "did both ends have a course straight across the tops of the louvers?" "yup" "well, you can't see both gable ends at the same time. let's stop and pick up a sixer for the ride" whew; huh?
  22. oddly enough, one of my favorite YT modelers uses bug mounting pins for all things wired. there will be an "edit" later when i can dig out his channel name; stay tuned! until then: Amazon.com: WILLBOND Stainless Steel Insect Pins Kit Specimen Entomology Pins Butterfly Collections Variety Pack for School Entomology Display Butterfly Collectors(500 Pieces,5 Sizes) : Industrial & Scientific as odd as it may sound, you can actually feel the precision with which they are made when working. if i were a butterfly, it would be an honor to be skewered by a #5 round head. really!
