Datsun Street Truck
meechum68 replied to meechum68's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Good morning Eugen, Thanks sir! I appreciate it. Just doing a nice pretty much box build, but gonna spice up the chassis probably tonight. Will check the body and if it looks good after lastnight's prime, will lay the first coat of color shift down. -
I feel the squirrels, as you saw I wrapped up 3, and now I have 5 on my bench.
-
That and almost time to crash here. I have things drying as you saw from prior posts. So figured I needed to catch up on those WiP's/completed ones.
-
Looking GOOD!! Glad I checked back on this!

That ole girl is Gorgeous! She's gonna take all the guys home! Amazing, love the color, and compared to the 1/24... She is BIG BIG girl! Clean work and love that color!
-
Fantastic work!! Very clean!

Let's see... lots of things surprisingly enough... Did some work on my Skyline build-made motor mounts, painted header, valve covers and snorkle tubes. Did some work on my Street Datsun build, frame is all one color, and ready for additional colors, all other body parts are reprimed. Did some work my other little Datsun, that's gonna be a full box stock build, I was gonna change colors on it, but decided to go with colors similar to box. So will have some work there to do. Mocked up my 61 Catalina... gonna do the old school.. Race on Sunday and sell on Monday attitude with it. And picked out another kit ... Hudson Hornet and body and interior colors as well.

Things in prime, some assembly done, will go back through the frame/suspension and do some painting. The engine gonna do a little of dirtying up,and then will add blower belt, and the fuel pump. The wheels are together and rear wheels dirtied up. I have a moon eye fuel tank.. hmmm gonna test fit that on the front clip and see if it will work. If so, then I am good. -
Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!

What a great build! And the story was great! Really personalized the build.

The Catalina is in progress now, gonna go old school drag racer, but not sure what style tbh. Still researching. The little Datsun is now in progress.. full box stock but instead of red, still contemplating color.

Looking good Jim! I have 3 of these in my stash.... glad to see one in progress. I think I may add on my bench for a filler build while I work on 2 others. -
Thanks Carl!

Thanks Carl! Just have to do the exhaust soon, and then the ole girl is 100%.

No lies!! And this is looking awesome! You captured the typical .. wet spots on the block perfectly!

This is gonna be cool! And I have a very small travel kit setup, I need to get a few more things to keep in my suitcase for building when I travel for extended periods of time. Usually I hobby shop when out on the road. I keep enough space in my suit case (I have a hardside) to allow for 2-4 kits and a few random odds and ends. I am glad to see that there are more of us who build when we are at the hotel!

I like this!! That color is awesome! -
Did a little frame assembly on my street Datsun truck. Gotta a couple more things on it, and then one more coat of primer. Let it dry then some detail work. (Will post the detail work in my Datsun build post) Which wasn't too bad for hour and half of bench time today, oh and engine is 90% assembled. Have some detail work before adding 2 more parts to it. Got the wheel assemblies together, have to buy some smoke clear to dim the wheels down since the chrome is so.. bright!
