  1. I'm a licensed structural engineer as well. Most of the buildings we design are K through 12 schools and college and university buildings. Also do some health care, data centers. Mostly low to mid-rise buildings.
  2. Wonderful! I also love the channeled but not chopped east coast style!
  3. Anything by Dr Cranky... Just kidding. I get inspiration from the members of this board, The Rodder's Journal (love the histories about the golden age of hot rodding and slat-flat/lakes racing), anything I see on the street, TV, etc...
  4. The McDonald's across the street (not pictured) is under construction, as is the Star (pun intended) bucks.
  5. Texas Rangers baseball, Virginia Tech and Redskins Football, oh yeah, and having 3 kids under 6...
  6. Now that's a hot rod! Love it...
  7. My bad, y'all I didn't see the others.
  8. Just saw this puppy: http://autos.yahoo.com/news/classic-aston-martin-racer-turned-into-life-size-model-kit-art.html If only I had an extra $35,000!
  9. I've had the exact same evolution. I still like Foose's Grand Master and some of the other "billet rods" but I largely like the traditional and patina looks. For me it makes me think of the 50's when kids were doing this stuff themselves, not having them built by pro-builders that do all of the work. Also an old rusty or suede painted hot rod tells more of a story than a super shiny trailer queen. I always thought it was funny that the Riddler and similar awards go to the owners of the cars, not the builders, since more often than not the owner never even turned a wrench on the project. By the way, if you still have a bunch of Wagonrods and Phantom Vickies, I'll gladly take them off of your hands. I do still like Mustang II IFS's and high tech chassis, mainly for pickups, though, as I like my rods fenderless.
  10. The art for the Galaxie Limited 48 Chevy kits is pretty awesome.
  11. Thanks! Those do look nice.
  12. Does anyone have pictures of them unboxed?
  13. I like the boxart for the Batmobile Deluxe Edition.
  14. I think a snap kit would be good, since they roll pretty well after they're built. The Batmobile snap kit might be a good one. The Revell Camaro or the 32 scale Mustang GT500, too.
  15. Yeah, that's just too cool!
  16. PM me a list, too, if you please!
  17. FYI, there are 2 different glue Batmobiles. The one that hobby lobby is selling the regular glue kit. The one that comes with the photo-etch is the "Deluxe" version, and I have not seen that one at HL, yet. The tip above out the mobile coupon is great, BTW, no more printing coupons.
  18. I want one just for the engine. That thing is awesome!!!
  19. One more question: What grit should I scuff with to get good adhesion?
  20. I'm really looking forward to this kit, since it looks like it'll be cheaper than the AM issues. I've been drooling over the engine with those awesome side draft carbs, but couldn't stomach the high price just for the engine.
  21. I guess I'll plan on doing that... Thanks, Cranky!
  22. I was polishing the color coat prior to installation of decals and burned through the paint slightly in a few locations. It's a Revell 69 Nova, and I'm using Tamiya blue in a rattle can; I can't remember the color number (TS-15, maybe). The spots I burned through are the ridge on the rear deck lid, the very rear tip of the rear quarter panel, and a spot under the lower character line behind one of the rear wheel openings. I was polishing with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound (great stuff by the way) with an old t-shirt. Sorry, no pics at the moment. What's the best and fastest way to touch this up? Do I need to respray the whole thing, and re-polish? I really don't wanna do that , but if I must...
  23. The AMT Wagonrod kit has a decent IFS, but it's not a Mustang II. It also has a 4 bar rear suspension and air-ride equipment.
  24. Always love the Strongbad references!!! Do you spend you free time burninating the country side?
