  1. I second this. Have several diecasts that can't be sold (no boxes, defects or a few missing small parts) and I want to get rid of. They are good for parts or customizing into something else.
  2. Goodwill has an auctions page where you can find good deals from time to time, but bidders are advised to check the pics real good, because descriptions are not that great: https://shopgoodwill.com/categories/listing?st&sg&c=448&s&lp=0&hp=999999&sbn&spo=false&snpo=false&socs=false&sd=false&sca=false&caed=4%2F26%2F2023&cadb=7&scs=false&sis=false&col=1&p=1&ps=40&desc=false&ss=0&UseBuyerPrefs=true&sus=false&cln=2&catIds=-1%2C4%2C448&pn&wc=false&mci=false&hmt=false&layout=grid&ihp Sometimes diecasts wander into this page also: https://shopgoodwill.com/categories/listing?st&sg&c=418&s&lp=0&hp=999999&sbn&spo=false&snpo=false&socs=false&sd=false&sca=false&caed=4%2F26%2F2023&cadb=7&scs=false&sis=false&col=1&p=1&ps=40&desc=false&ss=0&UseBuyerPrefs=true&sus=false&cln=2&catIds=-1%2C8%2C418&pn&wc=false&mci=false&hmt=false&layout=grid&ihp
  3. When there is no way to hold a part with an alligator clip a loop of masking tape with the glue to the outside may do the trick.
  4. Lesson learned the hard way: plywood intended for modeling is no good. Keeps delaminating... I am wasting more time fixing it that going forward. Probably will cover the whole thing with styrene sheet. OTOH windows will have square corners. Will fit better with the old style truck.
  5. Real driveshafts have U joints welded at both ends and then a telescopic section going into the transmission. Follow the prototype and then glue just at the differential. Looks the easiest way to me.
  6. Agreed. Any color on the right car will look great. There are colors that are just not intended for some cars.
  7. I think I found it:
  8. I use the one part that comes in a tube. Never had a problem with the solvent separating.
  9. Being the nutcase that I am, what about doing something totally ridiculous, like a fat chicken?
  10. There is/was a diorama of a modeler throwing a car against the wall but don't remember where I saw it...
  11. I use Body shop glazing and spot putty from the auto parts store. Works on metal and plastic and is a lot cheaper. I get sanding sponges from the dollar store. If getting masking tape from the home improvement box store buy the light purple one. Has glue that releases easier than the blue one. NEVER the yellow one!.
  12. I have a '39 coupe. The hole is there.
  13. Patience. And the willingness to figure when things don't go as intended. And the perseverance to learn from your mistakes and redo what went wrong.
  14. Just found this old rural saying: if hard work led to success the donkey would own the farm.
  15. MORE SPIDERS???
  16. Not "if" but "how"...
  17. Go to a model railroad shop and look for G scale items. They are around 1:22.5... and I find them expensive. You could print your own.
  18. A lot of models either finished, mint in boxes, in different states of completion or just being messed up... 🙃 🙂
  19. Nice!. Now is there a scale junkyard that sells parts (not somebody trading or selling one or a few, a REAL junkyard)?
  20. Thew a coat of white. Think I don't like flat and white, but change is the only constant here.
  21. FINALLY some progress!. Built the body out of 1/4 plywood. Windows not finished because I haven't made a final decision between house-type (square corners) or RVs (rounded ones). Also agonizing over fiberglass outside finish (smooth) or something else. See why things take like forever?.
  22. Blue dots and all!
  23. We can rant and argue until hell freezes over, but HE will be selling something to US, because he has his fingers into everything. That is control, money doesn't matter anymore because it will be flowing his way no matter what. And everybody will be glued to the stupid screens arguing about cats or some other idiocy. We better start learning Chinese, because we are going that way. Or Soylent Green...
