Run-flat tires and AC on all the time. They were way ahead for their time...

1953 International pickup
Big Messer replied to mchook's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The way I see it from this side of the screen is that the grille is a bit low and somewhat pointy forward in the center, the fenders look more rounded down on the sides of the hood and the grille seems to follow the fenders closely on the prototype pic. The fenders themselves seem to be fine. -
Nice build!. One thing I never figured out is how those horizontal springs in front and rear of the differential work or what they do...

Rolls-Royce No Chemicals, No Paint, No Harmful Glues

Check behind the furniture that is always against walls. And Mark gave some very sound advice also. It wouldn't hurt to check with somebody who deals professionally with this kind of issues also. -

A stone cottage. Did you have it checked for mold or fungus?. Do you have AC?. Usually those collect a lot of dust and other nasty stuff that may not be present where you go for vacation. Also with all the traffic it may be worth checking for an air filtration system. -
This is basically how prototype cars are developed when doing the clay mockups.

Crossing Scales For Extra Detail
Big Messer replied to oldcarfan's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I carry a caliper suitable for my scale to check whatever I think may be usable, scale in the label totally ignored. Found great scale chain in the fake jewelry aisle at hobby lobby. -
I use the glass from a dead scanner as a surface plate for assemblies or to sand parts flat.

Ideas for holding figures
Big Messer replied to slusher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use double sided foam mounting tape from the dollar store. Comes in a roll of pre-cut squares and has great holding power. -

Of all places I found some ladies tendrils at Hobby Lobby with some tools suitable for 1/24. Will try to get a pic tomorrow. There is/was a detail set for trucks by Italeri (#764) that has some. -
I like it. Being somewhat of a death fan I would have made it into a hearse, longer and stock roof height. I may consider it as soon as I clear some WIPs...

‘55 El Camino
Big Messer replied to NOBLNG's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Nice work!. I did a '57 many moons ago. Now I am pondering the idea of doing another, but to higher standards. One thing I may try would be making the tailgate closer to vertical to look more like the regular station wagon.- 139 replies
