  1. When I first met my wife back in 1968 her West Virginia accent was very intriguing to a young man from Michigan. Today, we are both retired and have resided here in Up North Michigan since 1998. She has lost all of her WV accent now and this is very noticeable when Joyce and her three sisters, who still live in WV, get together. We have lived in a number of different locations within the States with respect to our careers and I have always enjoyed the various accents heard from the local folks... and the fact that if one remains in the area long enough he/she will probably hear the new accent develop in their own voice over time. Joe
  2. Nice model; brings back the "fun" aspect of early model kits. Sometimes less IS more. Joe
  3. Very,very, nice! ? Joe
  4. ...and excited you should be about this model! I am glad that you are sharing the construction information with us as you progress through this project. Joe
  5. Now that looks nice! I like the interior livery colors, too. ? Joe
  6. Welcome to the forum, Donald! Joe
  7. I would really be interested in reading the techniques you use for achieving the nice finish with craft paint. For example: paint manufacturers, paint primer used with the craft paint, mixing ratios and materials used to thin the paint color choice for airbrushing, pressure used for airbrushing craft paint, distance from model items when airbrushing, sanding grits used on craft paint and what you use as a paint sealing medium and how you apply it to the model. Not asking for much here...??? I would be very happy to achieve a realistic model finish that looks as nice as your model that is displayed above and having the explanation in one place would be a huge benefit for the reader. Thanks! Joe
  8. Very nice work indeed! ? Joe
  9. Well, I’m going to bite my tongue and perhaps go back to the HL store today to see if there’s anything new on the shelves. Didn’t buy any new kits during the last three trips as the new stock boxes were not even open. My wife and I took a trip Thursday with plans to stop in at two different hobby stores within a couple hours drive. We ended up having a nice quiet ride instead…both of the hobby shops had closed up for good within the last two months. Sad for sure, however, I think it’s inevitable. One of the shops was replaced by a business dealing in electronic games and he was making a go of it, lots of stock on the shelves to sell albeit not a model kit in sight. Joe
  10. Perhaps you can find some at the smaller out-of-the-way grocery and hardware stores you may come across. Just a thought… Joe
  11. Nice looking model! The interior colors work well with your exterior paint color choice. Good job. ? Joe
  12. Short bed w/o hood gets a vote. Joe
  13. This model is really nice! Very realistic in the paint and details. The craft paint and clear top coat sure makes me want to take a good look at giving those products a try instead of the enamel and lacquer paint I have in the shop. Thanks for sharing! Joe
  14. Nice model work on all of the models! I enjoyed looking at your photos. Joe
  15. Nice model! Looks much better in your color choice and the details are great. ? Joe
  16. Very nice model and the color is sure attractive!! Joe
  17. Welcome to the forum, Christopher! Joe
  18. Welcome to the forum, Roy! Joe
  19. Nice looking work and very neatly done. ? Joe
  20. Custom it will be, Steve, as it was in quite "rough" condition when I received the model. I am keeping as much of the original look as I can and using artistic license on the rest. It's all fun! Joe
  21. Love to see these wood ship and boat models. Another aspect of modeling that can offer a satisfying experience. Joe
  22. Steven, I like the transparent steering wheel so much that I have decided to incorporate the detail into the restoration work that I have ongoing with an original ‘60 Buick Invicta. The kit steering wheel doesn’t look right (at least the one that was on the glue bomb) and your idea is a welcomed solution to the situation. Thanks! ? Joe
