  4. Well, while the latest Flexible Flyer comments regarding my initial post are interesting in themselves, and, yes, I am fully aware of the monitory comparison of price points regarding today's economic environment, my initial post was a direct reflection on what "shocked" ME at a given point in time and place. The thread title What Shocked You Today was answered by my comment and whether you agree with my post is your own business. Now, I suppose you won't like this post either, however, if you will get along with your business gentlemen, I'll get on with enjoying the forum and modeling. ? Joe

    ZZ TOP

That is a good looking model! ? Something about this body style just screams hot rod to me. Joe
  6. Nice looking model! ? The paint color really looks good in the outdoor photos. Joe
  7. I walked into a local small Hardware Store to see if the store had any Pledge Floor Shine (Future) I could purchase for model use. I saw a brand new Flexible Flyer sled (5 ft. length?) and immediate memories of snowy days spent sliding down the hills near my childhood neighborhood came to mind. Ambled over to get a better look at the sled... and just about fell over when I read the price tag. $119.99 !!! Now that really did shock me to say the least. And the store didn't have any of the Pledge Floor Shine either. Joe
  8. Nice idea! ? Joe
  9. Welcome to the forum, Frank! Joe
  10. No worries about that... I'm not moving fast enough on the project to even work up a bit of a glow..???. I am having a good time with it though! Joe
  11. Oh man, I really like that kind of gift! You might be surprised at what you find in those parts. ? Joe
  12. Decided to change the dashboard to something similar to the actual Grasshopper dragster... and, yes, I do realize I am slower than cold Sorghum in Alaska! No sense in rushing the fun...? Joe
  13. 6 1/2 MONTHS! Dang, Richard, you must be a Saint. ? WOW!! If that occurred at my cabin the neighbors four blocks away would have heard all of it hit the trash can a few moments after I saw it sitting on the floor. ?? Joe
  14. Great modeling work on this B-17 project! Well done. ? Joe
  15. I think your color combination works well on the model. Always liked the head on view with that big 'ol grill! Joe
  16. Nice color choice that sure works with your model. ? Joe
  17. Stopped in the HL this afternoon and picked up the Amt '64 442 Hardtop kit, first time I have seen this kit on the shelf, and a small sailing ship kit at 40% off. Quite a number of empty spaces; will check them out later this week when the new stock arrives. Asked the store manager who was standing at the end of the aisle if the 40% pricing would continue through Christmas and he just looked at me and said, "Well, it's going on this week."... and walked away. Geeeeze! Joe edit: you know, at the age of 72 years, I am finding out there are times when I really have to bite my tongue around some folks.
  18. Was planning to join the Navy in 1968 after high school graduation with my eyes on submarine duty. An extensive Cyst surgery on my tailbone area put a quick halt to any service plans and I always regretted that situation. Could not even get past my draft physical because of the surgery although I was able to serve as a law enforcement officer for four years beginning in 1971. Nevertheless I want to offer a special Thank You to all of you veterans for your service to America. You are all heroes, every one of you, and will always remain so in my mind. Thank you! Joe
  19. Is it here yet...is that '55 Chevy Nomad Wagon here yet! Dang... it's like waiting for Santa to get here on Christmas Eve with that Red Ryder air rifle I always wanted but never found under the tree. Oh well, at least Ralphy got his Red Ryder! ? Joe
  20. I am truly a lucky guy with regards to my modeling interest over the years. My bride of 53 years, Joyce, has always been very supportive of any of the various hobby endeavors I have enjoyed. She went to the flying field with me frequently when I built and flew model aircraft whether it was control line, free flight, or RC models and actually let me teach her to fly RC. Now that I can no longer fly RC models due to a small stroke and resultant Vertigo she encourages me to buy the static model kits that catch my interest as she goes about to the various hobby stores with me and, as an example, always tells me to have fun with the model project on the bench. I appreciate her thoughts, comments, suggestions and support more than she will ever know and I am thankful that we found each other many years ago. She is truly my best friend! ? Joe
  21. And that's what helps to make us all unique in a human sort of way. I love to hear the sound of the Irish folk having a conversation or singing...especially singing. Joe
  22. My bride of 53 years giving me a big smile and telling me to have fun working on my models as I got up out of the chair and mentioned that I was going downstairs to the shop for awhile. Gotta love this woman! ?? Joe
  23. Very nice combination! ? Joe
