Just jump in and try stuff, most isn't that difficult.I live kinda near you and know the feeling about shipping charges, but what are you gonna do.I just paid 32 shipping for something that cost 35,but I "needed" them -

A Plea for a RUST ONLY Section!
mistermodel replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've read this long thread and don't think we need a rust or zomby hunter thread.I'm a gear head and like looking at any thing with wheels, although my intrest these days is trucks,I still look ar the cars in each catigory.I can see putting pick up/suv back in the cars section unless its built to look like Joes plumbing work truck, then it would be in trucks.Wait I'll take that back because it would be too much like SA without the E format. There would be whinning going on then .If there is a seperat weathered section ,then the next thing will be a road weary build shouldn't go with a pre resteration 70 road runner barn find build that shouln't go with a 36 ford sitting in a fence row for 65 years type of build.Combining all race cars together would be ok in my book The main thing is there ain't a whole lot wrong with what is here.Maybe people should shut up and enjoy the fine work going on here.If you need seperate threads just to make your cumputer time easier, shut the thing off and build. My 2 cents -
Truck Frame Help
mistermodel replied to camaro68's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
A piece of frame from a kit that's the same is best.If you can find a channel the same size use it.You can make your own channel with flat stock also. I cut the frame on 45 angles and if possible stagger the joints from one side to the other.I've done many that way and are strong. The last one I did I never and it warped. Be sure to get the fish plate on the back of the rail super tight inside the channel and make it at least a couple inches longer than the splice your adding. You may have to add a extra cross member as well. Also use super glue or liquid glue ,the tube stuff takes to long to gas out and the fumes trapped between the fish plate and rail could warp the plastic. Just yesterday I built 2 rails from flat stock, here is a pic -
I got some #11 blades,an exacto square,an exacto tri angle and some sheet plastic.I put them all to work today and built 2 frame rails for a kenworth

Thats what happened in north america.thats why jobs went to asia.in the future with limited fuel the jobs will come back because of shipping costs I use the cheap big cans whwn ever posible. If a guy uses a air brush do you use less paint?I was spray bombing some small parts a couple days ago and think more paint went in the air than on the plastic -
Blame it on the Canadians wholey .What were dealing with, is 3 or 4 different horribly inneffecent goverment departments "working" together
