  1. One of my all time favorite kits..if not my MOST fave! Can't remember how many of these I built as a kid back in the 60's. Nice job! I have one original issue kit and one original one in that Black and Yellow boxing.
  2. Here's the announcement on his own website... http://www.kennybernstein.com/
  3. Wayne...electronic siren heads in a 49???? Man those Departments were WAAAAAy ahead of their time!
  4. Absolutely...the last few years new releases by Tamiya have set the industry standard!
  5. Actually I believe the ring was more for breaking the beam at the top end. At the starting line, the tire could break the beam ok but back in the late 60's when the fuelers were going faster and faster, they were having trouble with errors at the finish line. The small rim and tire didn't have enough surface area to consistently break the beam and the beam would get broken by the rear tires, thus resulting in a longer E.T. and sometimes a loss of the race. So they added the ring to increase that surface area so that the front tire could better break the finish line beam at 200+ mph.
  6. Beautiful! Especially the paint!
  7. Art, That price you quoted for the Badger bottles is quite high and is their retail price. You can buy those same bottles with lids for 62 cents a piece here... http://www.specialtybottle.com/salvejarsclearmi.aspx And that's retail. I would imagine that Badger's cost is considerably lower. Anyone can buy the regular 1/2 ounce bottles with caps for 79 cents a bottle from Floquil here... http://www.hobbylinc.com/airbrush/supplies.htm I would imagine Testor's cost on buying thousands of these jars would be a LOT less than that...maybe 10 - 25 cents a bottle with the huge volume they must buy.
  8. I like regular Easyoff oven cleaner.
  9. That's 256 1/2 ounce bottles to make a gallon. 256 times $4 = $1,024 a gallon!!!! Yeah yeah..I know. I's the small packaging and handling etc etc. Still seems awful expensive!
  10. Thanks so much for that link. I have saved almost all of those pics. What great references for building a stock 69 Z-28!!!!!
  11. The 1/24th scale kit isn't that nice. The best P-51 kit is the new Tamiya one in 1/32 scale. And the best place to buy airplane models is Sprue Brothers. Good prices and absolutely the best lightning fast service anywhere! http://www.spruebrothers.com/ I have no connection to them but I buy all my airplane models and accessories there that I don't pick up at a show...
  12. Hi Guys, I'm looking for the best source, either kit or resin, for an early BBC tunnel ram intake manifold, 1969 era, probably Edelbrock...maybe Weiand. And also for a pair of Carter Thermoquads to sit atop that tunnel ram. Thanks in advance, Terry
  13. Thanks much Wayne. I used the RLM colors from Whire Ensign Models which I bought from Mid-Tenn hobby shop over the internet. My first time with this paint and I really liked it!
  14. 1/48th scale. Finally finished it up this afternoon. Here's a pic of it all finished... Hosted on Fotki
  15. Built this one for BayCon club challenge on Sunday 11/06. The challenge is for any other modeler to build this same aircraft better than mine! Shouldn't be too hard I think with the problems I had with this build! LOL Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki And yes I know about the paint wrinkling. Just didn't have enough time to fix it before the show. Oh well...it will look ok in my display case.... Hosted on Fotki
  16. Revell...all new tool announced at the hobby show last week. It's in another thread here somewhere...about the toy and hobby show. Photos of the trees too...
  17. Also...suggestion... Maybe start working on some 62 Vette decals in anticipation of the upcoming new 62 Vette???? Please? Gassers, modifieds etc...
  18. Agree...just your own decals....
  19. That's amazing... I mean...that blower belt tension is pretty critical to it staying on for the entire run! Being just a little bit off would mean the difference between breaking a belt or having it fly off...
  20. Very nice!!! As I was studying your build I noticed there was no idler pulley to adjust the tension on the blower belt like most blown engines have. And seeing the job you did and knowing the research you put into it, I assume that the lack of that pulley is correct. So what I'm wondering now is...how in the heck did the surfers adjust the tension on the blower belt without said tensioner pulley?
  21. Looks like a kit engine maybe from a Boss Mustang kit?
  22. Armor and airplane modelers have been making things from the tissue paper method for decades! Especially things like tarps covering vehicles, wings etc. It's just diluted white glue on the tissue paper. But I would like to see how Darryl makes his mold to make the chute form!
