Good gravy, my dad had a 68 Galaxie fastback that I loved. I would sure dig having that frog-amt-gurney version! His was dark green metallic, vinyl roof, 390 4bbl, autostick, full wheel covers with those Firestone Wide Oval Whitelines. Oh what I'd give to have that car today. I havent seen another one like it.

SQUARING UP YOUR TIRES & CHASSIS
Draggon replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Thanks, Doc!! Did you get the blocks from micromark, and are they 2"x2"? Also, how about running a metal straight edge between the blocks to make sure both tires on each side are pointed in the same direction? Seems i can either get the camber right, or them pointed the same way, but rarely both. -
Do you have any close up pics of the chrome rims? I'd like to see how good ( or bad ) they are.

Perfect choice on the wheels and tires! Sits nice and low too, just right!

Nice and low, just the way it should be. Good work!

Stupid Things You've Done While Modeling
Draggon replied to Jdurg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Having an open jar of lacquer thinner on the workbench and telling myself over and over "its OK, I wont knock it over" Lacquer thinner melts plastic almost as good as Tenax. Got a hoot out of the "dont squeeze your legs together to keep the exacto from falling on the floor". Seems I am not unique -
Very nice!

The one model you are most proud of.
Draggon replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is my most prized possesion. Tho built by my buddy Dave Reese, I was fortunate to acquire it this week. He builds amazingly clean models, and when the Hairy canary became available I had to have it. I was at Fremont Drag Strip in 67 for a match race with the Canary, Brutus, Samson, and a few others. I was 50 feet off the track, at the traps, and the Hairy Canary came flying throuh, 16o mph, crossed up, rear wheels in the dirt, never lifting off the throttle. Of all the grails, this is the most absolute hoiliest of the holiest. I am proud to display Dave's work, and most proudest to have it in my collection. -
Well this sure brought a smile to my face! Pretty cool Ira!

A Very Special Work Bench
Draggon replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thats way over the top cool, but I think I might be concerned if the boys in blue ever visited my house. Could you imagine trying to 'splain' that? -
10 years dem brakes lasted. 10 years...
Draggon replied to '08SEAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My Durango has 14 years on the original brakes. Only 58K, tho, but I can tell the rotors are in trouble. Still over half the life on the pads though! -
That just ain't right.

"Hunted by Night" a "B" movie tho somewhat entertaining. Long range shot shows a Ford F-350 ( ? ) towing a trailer with a swamp buggy/hunting buggy thing on it, in all of the close ups of the actors through the windshield, there is NO trailer or buggy. Then close to the end a bad guy is in a Chevy dual cab, bleeding so much that it is running down the drivers door. In all the subsequent scenes, there is no blood, and the bad guy has been injured on the opposite side. Sheesh! Do they think we're not paying attention? -
Absloutely stunning!!

Yea, Roger, Ive been thinking of getting that stuff. I just hate to waste the almost full gallon I have. Guess I could find other uses for it.
-
I remember thinking the same thing the last time I bought a gallon. Doesnt work so good, and needs a lot of encouragement. I suspected they might have altered the formula. Used to take less than a day, now sometimes weeks soaking and not much happens. The only thing I think its good for now is relatively fresh acrylic paint.

A passing thought ('65-'66 Mustang coupe)
Draggon replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Agreed for the most part, in my town circa 65-6-7 ish only fastbacks were hot rodded. The coupes were sort a like an ugly stepsister, as were the non RS/SS Camaros. Even convertibles werent all that cool. That being said, I have a great fondness for one piece chassis plates and wire axles.......... -
That just ain't right.

I watched More American Graffitti last night. They dubbed in tire squealing on a couple shots of fuelers ( uh, no way could you hear tire noises over the engine ), Also they depict John having a tough time beating Beckwith, Milners car of course has a blown smallblock, while Beckwiths appears to have a smallblock also, but with dual carbs on a crossram. I know its nitpicking.........the one only rivet counters might notice is the white hotrod 23-25 Tee Phaeton track vechicle. In 65 ish it was PINK, the first rod i ever saw painted pink . At least they kept the name "Fremont Raceways", although again, it didnt become "raceways" for 10 or 15 years after the time depicted in the movie. Perhaps I have too much time on my hands -
Thats pretty cool. Isnt Lownslow ( Frank ) doing these? I also thought Alan Raab ( Ma's resins ) had, or was going to have them. I got a few of the aoshima sets off ebay, first two were 14 bucks, last two were 20. Thats a lot of money.

Wow, absolutely un-believable! What an awesome custom, I dig it!

Its been posted before, but it finally showed up from netflix. I think I waited 6 months or so. I am an old school drag racing and sprint car kinda guy, tho I love the Can-AM, I had never been much of an F-1 fan. Anyone who loves cars has got to watch this. It is by far the best car movie I have ever seen. It is so well done that you can soon get into the frame of reference Ayrton had, a humble champion that was more at home on the track than in front of a camera. Every car guy should watch this, and if you dont jerk a few tears then maybe you should move to mars. I have rarely bought movies, but this is one that I would like to own. I watched it twice, and started on a 3rd time. Awesomely amazing, it puts you right along Senna in the drivers seat.
