  1. nice work . I always liked the hood on the grand prix.
  2. I would suggest a lindberg (previously AMT) 34 ford pick up a good one to try a top chop and or sectioning and or channeling .because the body is pretty square it should be easier than say a 49 mercury to chop. I think that mark gustafson has done the best job of teaching these techniques but his articles were printed 20 years ago. well that just made me feel out of touch. has anyone else done comprehensive articles about customizing in a model magazine lately?
  3. we all have to start somewhere . I think you just need to focus on one aspect at a time. I think you should keep using your airbrush but try using lacquer based paints instead of enamels. the techniques will come in time just be patient and try not to get frustrated. reference material is always good to have on hand as well as a specific plan as to what you intend on doing with your model.
  4. great job so far . welcome aboard I look forward to seeing this finished.
  5. They are available now .
  6. Believe it they are on Ebay right now for around 15.00 .
  7. Donald I think you have the beginnings of an enjoyable hobby. I would also recommend perhaps building a snap kit when trying out new finishing techniques be it interior or painting the body to bare metal foil to weathering. a snap together will keep you from thinking too much about engine detail and chassis components and has a very good likelyhood of being completed. I have tons of started projects which almost always are sidelined due to a problem that is above my pay grade. as a result they sit for awhile until my skill level rises . also go ahead and try out an over the top build that can be an ongoing project for you. one more thing I would recommend is reference material.
  8. There is an italerie truck kit that comes with a motorcyle that has red bull decals. I will see if I can locate them and see if there are any usable for a race car.by the way great build I look forward to seeing more .
  9. excellent model . I love what you did with the interior. thanks for sharing.
  10. I like it too!
  11. Nice paint. Those wheels look great.
  12. I think it looks pretty cool. I like the work you did to the pick up bed but I think it is too long . and maybe the rear wheels moved back a little. The color is a good choice. what are you building next?
  13. I really enjoy seeing how you are putting this together .you make it look easy. how much of the scratch building is planned in advance and how much is problem solving? I ask because when I attempt builds like this I often get stuck at certain points when trying to bring it all together like the ride height will be off or the interior doesn't fit right .Again I appreciate seeing how you approach this build .
  14. Thanks Peter,I have some I just don't get to the painting stage very often ,however, I will give them a shot on the next model that gets to that point .thank you
  15. I like it A lot

    Anglia

Great Anglia,That paint is sooo smooth. look forward to seeing more. The engine stand with the yellow engine probably came from the amt 40 ford.the one with the incomplete engine came from the amt 66 nova.although the 69 charger has one too,I think.
  18. On a seperate note ,would mixing the jacquard copper pigment with thinned black be the answer for your intended paint color ? or doesn't it work like that? I haven't experimented with the jacquard stuff at all but I have noticed you use it so I assume you have tried it out alittle bit.
  19. Well shoot ,absolutely stunning.
  20. Great job I always loved that one. wheres the trailer? all my 1960's racing movies are running together I can't remember the difference between fireball 500 ,redline 5000,and that elvis movie.
  21. Looks like you are off to a great start .I look forward to seeing the other four.
  22. Nice seems like the wrong word. having veiwed the drawing before the build I will go with excellent execution (especially if someone pulls the pin). bravo sir bravo .
  23. I got a plastic minnow bucket that is perfect for soaking parts the basket lifts out of the "water" making it ideal for part soaking it was about 10.00 which is a pretty good deal. I have had it full for a few months and no problems.
