  1. Thanks Tom a breather has been taken ,which is why I wish I hadn't opened the doors but then after reviewing I now remember I needed too as it solved a whole bunch of other problems.Thank you for the encouragement .as far as the paint job I had originally wanted to do some green scallop designs but some one else built a similar car with green and even in the real car world green seems to be popular with this car so I have some ideas using other colors .
  2. thanks it turned out how I had hoped it would design wise(turns out I like the 58 ford).as far as the rad and engine the whole front clip is extended so I lost very little in the actual engine bay the radiator may need to be shortened 1 or two scale inches .
  3. Have you tried an auto parts store?
  4. what was I thinking ? this was almost falling together until I opened those doors then it started falling apart.
  5. An AMT dirt hauler . the cab is a little on the small size but it will work for a one off hauler.
  6. I am working on a race car transporter and regular semi truck wheels are a little too big the 1 ton pick up wheels are too small and I tried the tires from the snap hummer which are close but still a little small so something between those and the semi truck wheels. the transporter is similar to those european transporters that carried about three cars from the early sixties to early seventies .think ecurrie ecosse and the ferrari one .thank you truck modelers I know your knowledge is encyclopedic on these matters so please dumb it down for me .
  7. I love your builds . and after watching hot rod tv reruns it is nice to put a face to the name!I really like the extras you have added and as usual you have pulled it off brilliantly.
  8. I said Not a trophy for every kid but rather items to help them improve and continue building and come back the following year . The more you teach the kids the better they get and that would make the stage mom dads less of a problem.
  9. Andy do you remember modelmania at motorsports miniatures at the old grand ave location?I still have some of my judging sheets I thought it was great to see the areas that I needed to improve and where I did well.I have no idea if that is how other judged events are run as that was my only judged event I "competed" in.otherwise it has just been nnl north.
  10. A little more encouragement for the 2 kids that do show up with a built model. I'm not talking a trophy for every kid but a kit or other item that they may not have or think about getting that will help improve their skills.
  11. these are really "cool".they all look like they could be built with kit parts and scratch building.
  12. excellent, the model looks great. where did you take the photos? the background is great.
  13. I would love to see this in the workbench section also. I don't have any advice on your current plans but I will be glad to jump in for more specific questions.
  14. excellent low rider, and very tastful use of pe parts. you should post pics more often.
  15. If I could use curse words I would because that is incredibly realistic.I thought it was a picture of the real one and was looking for the model.I sure am glad to have you around your builds are amazing!
  16. Very nice, especially for just starting to get your feet wet (again). What's next?
  17. Thank you Bill ,excellent tutorial.your hand makes it look like a 1/32 mercury .
  18. when working with glue bombs you sometimes have to think outside the box . there is no magical product that will dissolve the glue so you need to try carefully prying parts apart, sometimes a little liquid glue will soften things enough to get them apart.another approach would be to figure out what parts you want to use and then cut them out with out trying to save the rest of the donor kit.good luck !
  19. Harry is right on the replacing the panel with a metal foil . I tried this with craft foil thicker than reynolds wrap but thinner than pie tins. first make a few "pressings" over the area to be dented so if you don't like the results you can just replace it and once you cut the area out you will be hard pressed to replicate the same panel.after you have your copies cut out the area but leave a little aroud the edges so you have something to stick it to . place the foil copy over the hole and add dents with your choice of tool.when you have achieved the desired effect you can put a little epoxy on the back(underneath)side to help hold the shape then slap it on the body .hope this helps on this one I cut out the door beneath the window frame made copies and attached my dented panel then painted .
  20. I enjoy this very much very. nice craftsmanship.love the colors.
  21. I don't think I have seen this kit before but I recognize some of the parts .Nice job I like the color and supporting decals .
  22. the mach five from the original cartoon has been tooled up by polarlights in a glue or snap kit pretty decent but a little on the small size maybe. it builds up ok .from the recent movie Jada made snap kits of the mach five and mach six these have low parts count but look good when done.there have also been a few done in resin by a company called horizon maybe a few others know for sure .the resin kits came with and with out a speed racer figure.
  23. liquid glues like tenax 7r or ambroid are good ones .plastruc makes decent liquid glue as does tamiya.the old tube glue has it's purposes but I don't use it much .there are also several different superglues that dry at diffent speeds.two part epoxy is also useful .you can use white glue for windows .the liquid glues are great for precise gluing, fasr drying and the good ones provide a strong bond.tube glue is useful for really strong bonds usually where it wont be seen.super glues you will have experiment with to see what you like to use them for they have different thicknesses the thicker they are the longer they take to dry from 10 seconds up to a minute.there is also accelerator to instantly dry the super glue and be sure to have debonder open on the workbench when using super glue.hope this helps and don't rely solely on my opinions try the stuff out and use what works for you this stuff is just basic general purpose info.
  24. As usual excellent work.looks great .
  25. Nice work I look forward to seeing more.if you have any questions at all just ask.
