I want to do a model of my dirtbike.
randx0 replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I do not have a clue as to the larger scale stuff but in 1/25th scale all that is available are some seventies vintage dirt bikes.most recently available from revell in the desert rat a datsun pick up with a trailer and two yamaha again these are 70's dirt bikes so the most you could use would be the wheels maybe.there are some dirtbikes in diecast ,Zee company when I was a kid but I have know idea what company is producing them now. and hot wheels made a kawasaki dirt bike about 12 years ago I haven't seen it since. -

thanks for the post .I wish this race was covered better on T.V.I love those big trucks. -
measure The doors you have around your house or at a nearby garage .if you want to convert that to scale you can do math or buy a scale ruler usually found in the train department at the good old hobby shop.I would recommend going with two stalls vs three ,in most well executed dioramas less is more, meaning you should imply things and let the viewer fill in the blanks. It should tell a story. The exception would be a back drop for taking photos ,but there again you don't want the background to be too busy .there are a couple of good kits to start out a dio like the one described. fujimi makes a garage and tool kit ,estes made a 1/24th garage a few years ago and theres one more that I can't recall at the moment.craft stores like michaels carry diorama kits leaning more towards foliage, water, snow and other ground cover.try to plan as much as possible before starting .take pictures of aspects you want to incorporate. these are ust a few ideas none are set in stone use what you want but make sure you post some pics of your work I look forward to seeing it .Good Luck

Rims And Tires?
randx0 replied to started on 24s's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There was a place on ebay that was selling a blister pack of rims for like 10.00 they weren't the greatest quality but they wee the right size. another source maybe larger scale diecasts or toys ,also check thrift stores you can find some useful items.hope this helps these aren't your best options just ones that haven't been mentioned. -
That is very nice and clean. are those rims the ones "they" call recall rims?

that is really cool. When you bring it over to your grandparents house make sure you glue it to the shelf so your grandpa doesn't wreck this one too! -

for a neat looking model engine the first thing you need to do is find a good color photo of the engine ,actually several, and paint it to match the photo try to notice if the intake manifold is painted or aluminum what about the valve covers or the oilpan .sometimes the carbs will be two colors an accurately painted engine will look good all on it's own without adding the wires. being this is your second model focus on the basics of building an engine like sanding/fillin the seam that results from gluing the two halves together making sure everything is lined up properly and not on upside down.bottom line research your particular part and copy it if you see an easy detail you think you can tackle go for it but start at the begining with accurate colors and proper placement then go to the extra details .these are just my opinions, do what works for you and what interests you however try not to do too much one one model it can get frustrating very quickly so just try 1 or 2 new techniques .
