Have you ever encountered this before ?

Yes, the 4070A (The very first ERTL truck kit) was molded in red, black, chrome and clear with hard vinyl tires. The chrome parts were all plated over red parts. -

Be wary of any sprays like Lysol, Febreeze, air fresheners, etc. they will strip chrome as well! -

The chrome was already really thin in that 4070A kit! Every one I built had areas missing chrome and it would darn near rub off with you hands. Those trucks really didn't have a lot of chrome, most was polished aluminum. This is the perfect opportunity to clean up all the mold lines and sprue attachment points and then paint the parts with Alclad chrome. The parts will have a much more realistic appearance. -

What???? That's just nuts!!! -
That looks like the rear end from an AMT Ford LN series kit. I don't ever remember seeing one chrome plated? (I have built every version of that kit) personally, I would strip it as you would more than likely never see a chrome plated rear axle that is that big in real life!

If you build it just right!.......... http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/151840625582

Thank you for comparing them! I guess I'll just use another MPC set to overlay the ones on this car I have.
-
I bought two of them from Tower hobbies along with two of the MPC rescue blazer kits. Shipping was free and when you use the promo code 01A15 you get $15 off of any order over $50. So each kit was only right at $16

Still hoping someone can compare the Slixx decals to the kit decals. I'm hoping to overlay the kit decals with the Slixx decals and I'm just wondering if everything will line up.

Free shipping and when you use promo code 01a15 you get 15.00 off any order over 50.00 so each kit was only, just over 16.00! i'll be designing some better five slot mags for Jim Littiken at Micro Nitro to machine out of aluminum for mine! I'll be sure to post pictures of them here once I get them in case anyone else would like to get some as well. -
