  1. I went to Hobby Lobby this morning to look at a Paasche H series. The one with the 3 tips (H set I think) was $82 and change. A Paasche double action was $110. Don't buy at Hobby Lobby unless you have a 50% off coupon. Tower hobby has the H set for $54.99.
  2. Congratulations.
  3. I've been using Scale Dreams for a few years - even before Rick took it over. Never had a problem. Rick is fair, honest, reliable, and his stuff can't be beat. I wasn't planning on ordering anything, but I won't be able to pass up a 20% off sale.
  4. Hobby Lobby has a coupon worth 40% off any one item of regualer price 02/15/10-02/20/10. Michael's has 20% off your entire purchse including sale items on 02/15/10 only - another coupon for 50% off any one regular priced item on 02/14/10 & 02/15/10 - and another coupon good for 40% one regular priced item on 02/16/10 & 02/20/10. Looks like Hobby Lobby/Michael's trip on Monday.
  5. Excellent execution.
  6. John, I'm new to the airbrush arena and have been using an old Badger 200 single action. I might be buying the Paasche H that has the 3 different tips. I've been using HOK pearls that were purchased through TCP Global. Nice people to deal with and ships pretty quick.
  7. Nameplates from several organizations read Crazy and the ink on my arm says Crazy. I'm proud to say that I earned the nickname when I was in Vietnam. I was able to complete my '72 GMC and posted it "Under Glass". I'm working on the Willys. The engine was giving some issues and I missed the upper firewall when I painted. I BMF'd the firewall. Since I put a tall scoop on the hood, I wanted a tall engine and finally decided to put 2 4 barrels on top of the blower and I need to put on air cleaners or velocity stacks. I rarely have a problem with flocking. I use Ken's Fuzzi Fur that I get from Scale Dreams. I paint whatever to a color similar to the flocking. When dry I lay down a coat of Elmer's glue. I don't even dilute it. I put on the flocking by loading up a food strainer and running my finger into the strainer to make the flocking come out. I usually let the item sit overnight before shaking and brushing out the excess. Oh - I always do my flocking on a clean sheet of paper so I can save the left overs and use again.
  8. Thanks Mark. Appreciate it. Bradley - you got it right brother.
  9. Times have changed Bradley. Back in April 1971 when I returned to The World, it wasn't very popular to be a Veteran. I took a job at Western Electric and people thought I was weird because I looked for a hole at sudden loud sounds. I went to meetings and had to sit in the back corner because I needed to see the room and the door. I never told anyone that I has served in Vietnam. That changed in November 1982 when I attended the dedication of The Wall in DC. I joined the Veteran Community that day and have taken an active role in it since. Have you noticed that presently serving troops and Veterans are treated with the respect they deserve? That's because we (Vietnam Veterans) were somehow able to teach the citizens of our great country that they need to honor the warrior and those that serve no matter what conflict the country is engaged in. My most bestest friend is Navy - 4 years on tugboat (Ashtabulla? I think the city is in Ohio). I'm a Marine. When the USMC song starts he does the M I C K E Y M O U S E thing. Okay. Fine. But then the Navy song starts and I do Roo, row, row your boat . . . We have a great time. We love each other like the brothers we are. I know. Long winded. Just tell me to shut up.

    Amazing to me.
  11. I'm not into stock but this is a beauty. Looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Very nice.
  12. Almost looks like Chicago in 1967. Terrible stuff that snow. We had very minor dusting about a month ago. Don't hurt yourself shoveling Geary. It's not worth it.
  13. New to the forum Rob but obviously not new to the hobby. Welcome.
  14. Do Badger airbrushes use a different hose/connections than a Paasche H series? I've been trying to find quick disconnect fittings for my Badger 200 and nobody has them that will fit a badger. What gives? I've been thinking of getting a Paasche H with the 3 tips but keeping my baby compressor for cleaning. But if I had a Badger and Paasche I might need 2 different hoses - maybe a splitter of some sort could work with 2 hoses.
  15. Thank you al for the positive comments. Peter & George - WELCOME HOME!! Don't know if you guys are into the Vietnam Veteran community, but you need to be part of something to get news that's important to Vietnam Veterans. Peter, you're not too far from Washington, DC. We'll be spending Father's Day up there (if the snow ever melts) with SDIT. That's Sons & Daughters In Touch. Their fathers were killed in Vietnam. It rips your heart out when they ask you to walk over to The Wall and they introduce you to their father. It worth every tear that's shed. Their fathers, but our brothers.
  16. Thank you Zman. Just makes me want to keep practicing with the airbrush. I'll get it down somehow.
  17. Thank you Nick and Bradley. Bradley - you must be a Vietnam Vet to recognize the ribbon. I've started putting one on every build I complete. I hand painted a bunch but have since made some in my graphics package along with a bunch of other license plates (after the article in the December MCM). I need to fill a whole page before printing though.
  18. I use Detailer all the time and really like it. I have all the colors that Scale Dreams carries. I like to wash the lower portion of raised fins (valve covers) in a color to match the car/truck paint. The different Detailer colors can be mixed to get almost any color you want.
  19. I have 6 of those bodies here. I can't wait to see your street version.
  20. I'm a little diappointed in my first airbrush painting. I covered the turck with HOK silver base and then shot HOK gold base on the lower panels and around the wheelwells. I then finished with HOK Tangelo pearl. The plan was to see the difference in the basecoats through the pearl. Maybe I put on too much of the pearl. I did the valve stems a little different this time. I drilled each Pegasus 23" Phat Daddy wheel and glued in a piece of 3/8" hardline from Scale Dreams. I then put a drop of Mirco Krystal Klear on the tip of each stem. When dry I painted the tip orange to match the interior/engine/inside of box. I used Avanti headlights that were drilled out and clear lenses glued in. The rear fenders had to be widened to cover the tires.
  21. Oh yeah. Maybe if I looked closer at both sides I would have noticed that. Thank you.
  22. I started on the new Revell coupe and noticed there are 2 firewalls. They look almost identical to me although 1 appears to have a small bead around the hole for the support rod. The other firewall has just a plain hole. I don't see any reference to 2 firewalls in the directions.
  23. Joe & Harry - we used to be almost neighbors. I lived a block north of North Ave and a block east of County Farm Road. Then I moved to Aurora on Butterfield Road just west of Eola Road. I used to go up your way Harry to get on I90 on my way to Rockford.
  24. Any thoughts about an Iwata Revolution SAR airbrush? It's a single action, the dual action is the BCR, I think. Appreciate any comments.
  25. James, did you try blankplates.com?
