Somebody posted here to use spray adhesive and then paint with whatever color. I tried the process on a '70 Challenger after using some half round Evergreen for the seams and the trim around where the roofline meets the body. It came out pretty decent but no pics because the completed model is up north.
I've heard of people using masking tape to get the texture and somebody makes a vinyl roof kit (Model Car Garage??).
Read your latest post with great interest, Dave, and then I had a brain fart. Maybe the leather from old attache/brief cases could work. I have a couple collecting dust. And then I thought maybe the fabric from suitcases and carry-on bags. I don't know if they're canvas or nylon. But maybe???

Ed - the color is okay but there should be a separation line. I sprayed the whole truck with silver base and then went around the bottom portion and wheelwells with gold base. The plan was to have a fogged affect but came out 1 color. I'm in the learning process of airbrushing.
I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1968 after 7 grade school and high school friends and a cousin had been killed in Vietnam. We graduated high school in 1968 and 2 years later they were dead. I had my 2S Student deferment in my hands when I walked into the recruiters office. I signed up for 2 years - that guaranteed I was going to Vietnam - to avenge the deaths of my friends.
I use Krystal Klear for all transparent parts - window glass, headlights, taillights, side marker lights. It can also be used on gauges to get the 1:1 clear cover on the gauge face.
Welcome to the forum Goblin. I haven't built a Viper but the 1:1 is a very nice looking car. There's all kinds of help here when you need it. I'm sure somebody will respond about your Viper project.
One item though, you're supposed to have your real name on your posts.
Hey Gary, your Willys turned out fantastic. The paint looks great and as I recall that's your first airbrush model. I love the color, the stance, and the wheels. I guess I love the whole thing.
