  1. Gary, I likes the direction this is heading mate, you have my attention. The "blend" with the dash and hood are especially pleasing to my eye, great work.
  2. X 2 GREAT stuff as usual Dave, always a pleasure to watch these build unfold.
  3. Derrick, so pleased to see this stellar build re-surface mate, that paint looks AWESOME!! A little bit of time away goes a "long way" sometimes..... I'm just getting back in the saddle myself. Good luck with it brother.
  4. Oh my goodness.....a bloke disappears for a while and misses some of the koolest goings on...... Amazing work and craftsmanship Ray, just amazing. LOVE where this is heading.
  5. Aye.....so the car may be sponsored by "Clowns", but it's easy to tell, the builder in no clown. GREAT work going on here Brett. Love the brass chassis and tin work.....excellent mate.
  6. Nah man, don't throw the sink at it........I'll have it. Kidding. Looking FANtastic as always Tyrone, one can always use your builds as great inspiration, whether it be 1:25 and even 1:12. Great work man.
  7. Looking good there Rick. Love the colour actually, it suits very nicely. Great work with that decal too, it gave me "fits" getting it to work on my 69 Nova. You had me drawn in as soon as I saw the MOTION in the topic line, as you can tell by my avatar.
  8. Chris, you been sneaking around to that workshop again, huh? Man, that looks super freakin' sweet mate. A real eye popper of a shot. I have missed so much with this build. But you never disappoint mate, that's just the way you are. A true perfectionist! Definitely a bar re-setter, and nothing less will do. Be here to enjoy this to the end now mate, bring it on brother.
  9. Well.......15 months on, really? How would you guys feel about an update? Man, where to start......................... The passed 12 months or so has given me plenty of time for soul searching and head scratching regarding this massive build. Surprisingly, the biggest change, will be to a NEW body! This was by far, my hardest decision to make in recent times, given how many hours work I already have committed to my own Camaro body, I just knew it was not going to hold up in the long run. It's not broken, but I fear that will happen eventually, and I don't wish to be left stranded, without a body some time down the road. When we all got wind of Dave's (comp1839) brilliant idea of getting a proper Camaro ProMod body commissioned, I knew then, that this is what I wanted. I was already well into mine, and the cost of a 1/12 Camaro body was outside my reach at the time.....Times change, lets move on! Yesterday I received confirmation that my new 1/12 69 Camaro ProMod is on the way, due by the 22nd July. You think I'm excited?? Just a tad, hey. Plans are for a full re-do on the chassis, thinking of going the brass route, as it will make it that much stronger and stable. Wheels and tyres are in the planning stages too, so with some big chunks of luck (already had bucket loads of good will) this project is set to snowball outta control. A good mate (in our model club) is on the verge of buying a 3D printer, so that's bound to get used to the hilt along the way..... Please bare with me as I get back into stride, but rest assured, the Camaro is BACK! Cheers guys, your ol' Aussie bud downunder..... Greg
  10. GREAT work in this garage.....LOVE'it man. The "tin work" on the tray looks fantastic.
  11. Hey Gary, you're off to a cracking start with this man, great work for a 'starting kit' as far as 1/12 goes. Not feeling the "scissor doors"....but that's just me. Nice work on that fiddly electrical connector too...I took the easy option and got some resin ones off ebay. Just a thought on the wheels (which are a kool option too I admit, never knew of them before Joshua mentioned them.)... Maybe add some plastic into the webbing where you've arched them out, to leave a flat 5-sided effect??? As per my rough pic below.
  12. Hey, the more pics, the more fun (pleasure) for us too Joe. Man, you have been busy since my last visit mate....GREAT work! That exhaust system and inlet plumbing are to "die for" man....TOP shelf work. (insert thumbs up here) The whole package is truly a remarkable build Joe, a real credit to you my friend.
  13. Aah Chris, been a while since I paid you a visit here son.....glad to see you ain't been slacking off....... Man, this build has come along in leaps and bounds, and now the body work....... Can of soda.................check! popcorn..................check! Comfy seat.....................check! Righto mate, I'm set......bring it on.
  14. That's looking pretty wicked Chuck. I'm not familiar with the kit, but the subtle changes you made look good to me. I'm guessing the decals are your own work?
  15. Hey Rom, feeling it with you bud. Get back to it when time permits mate.
  16. Thanks George and Marshall. George, you always have something great to add, even when I'm in an unproductive mood man, thanks heaps bud. I DO promise to get something here for you to look at again one day soon...... And I'll take you up on that Coke when ever you get a chance to get down here mate, you know that. Was gonna say we could share something a tad stronger, but our beloved "Pub" got burned down a week ago.
  17. Hehehe, hey, thanks Gary and Dave. Yeah, well the weather down here has gone from hot to wet. I'd gladly ship over a couple of container loads of that for you'll. The river behind my place (a little too close for comfort) has been up and down so much recently, I think it's set itself at a new height now. Too high...... So yeah, modelling is still on the back-burner....they say we'll be lucky to get 4 or 5 fine days during May. On a side note, (and I hope I don't get scolded) I have a few sets of my wheels/tyres available again. PM me if you wish to inquire. Limited stock.
  18. Gary, as Harry and Jonathan both pointed out, the Revell 'Stang is a great "late model" kit, and any of the Tamiya kits usually build up without too many hitches. 'Cept for the odd tweaking required for some opening panels, I should add. Only talking the Tamiya Datsun, cause I have 3 of them. 1/16 isn't a bad size either. MPC/Amt have several early to mid 70's Chargers, the DOH, a "72/3 street machine" and more recently the Petty Stock Car.
  19. Hey Jason, great work so far mate. (2 thumbs up) I too have just placed an order with Ron (over the weekend) to convert an old rebuild-able DOH kit. Tracking your progress to gain some valuable tips with this one. Keep it up man.
  20. Hey, thanks Rom, Joe, Bill, Dave and Gary. Unfortunately, progress has ground pretty much to that of a slow snail......hot weather just doesn't do it for me, as far as sitting at work benches go. It's definitely not dead in the water though...I've left it scattered on the bench, so it's there to remind me. I've also been waiting on getting some more wheels/tyres....been on order at the caster since last September, and they are finally ready. He's been really busy. I require a spare set myself for the #2 car, and have a few sets coming for customers. More soon hopefully gang. Cheers Greg
  21. Dave, that's just bad mate.....trying to pass off the new motor for the '37....................... But seriously, it looks WICKED mate, great work and craftsmanship.
  22. Once I'd started with wiring, I knew where it was heading....a place I'm not sure I really wanted to venture to............... Fuel injection! I knew from the outset that this would prove challenging, even though it is in a large scale, the connections are still kinda small.... I had decided that with the custom plenum with separate fuel rail, there would be a need for individual injectors. Pictorial evidence I don't have (forgot all the during pics ) but you may remember back to this pic.?? The injector ports are the round boss' at the top of each runner. I made each injector from several round tubes/rods, beveled at one end, drilled (on a 45deg angle) ready to accept a triangulated piece with an electrical fitting. This is how it all ended up. All in black (makes it hard to see properly, sorry) Green connectors are resin aftermarket items. But, before this...there was LOTS of fun...............NOT! 1st loom...............the ends started breaking off as I was attaching them..... 2nd loom.....just didn't do it for me. Eventually, combined ideas.................. Giving this result. I'm really quite pleased with how it looks. With a dry fit ready, I am very excited to have got this done and out of the way.....leaving me free to finish the rest of the wiring. All neat and reasonably tidy...... Wiring for the alternator (already done), oil pressure sender, a couple of sensors for the block, O2 senders and a few other odds'n'ends, I reckon I'll be over wiring when it's completed. Hope to have some more for you soon. Thanks for stopping in, and I hope you enjoy the work. Cheers Greg
  23. Thanks Bill. Yes...it will be very close. But I have a plan.... I think with some careful cutting, the "stock" hood bulge (down the centre) can be raised and widened just a tad....just to give it an extra few mm's. Here's hoping. Thank you too Joe, Dave and Chris. Well, I'd hoped to get some paint on that exhaust system over the past week, but our weather has been everything but kind..... I did however manage to re-do some other parts and add a splash of colour here and there... First up though, I had to tackle that down-pipe......I had a vision of what I wanted (pics sourced online) and wanted the top (turbo outlet) to look like it had an expansion pipe. Exits the turbo, steps up from maybe 75 to 85mm....you get the idea. NOT the easiest to achieve given the diameter of the tubing is restricted by wall thickness. Anyways....I ended up with this (none too convincing piece)...... Simply made by sectioning the larger tube, gluing it to the shape required.....But.....it didn't look right..... A friend pointed out that it gave the appearance of heat wrap. Bingo!...... With this in mind, I started to sand and shape it to smooth things out a little.....then disaster....I sanded right through. Next step, version II.................... I re-made the top half (curved in 2 directions mind you), and was fortunate enough to make it meet the lower section, well enough to be happy. Then I ADDED heat wrap, cut from strips of surgical sticky tape. Wrapped, painted and weathered, it looks convincing. (oops, no pic sorry) Here is the new down-pipe with the wrap finishing applied. Also added a catalytic converter, seeing the RB runs unleaded...and two bungs for the O2 sensors. After some smoothing and re-finishing on the header pipes, they were treated to some Tamiya gold (sprayed over gloss black) and followed by several washes of bronze, copper and black. Turbo exhaust housing in light gun-metal. (this may get a darker shade....not entirely happy with how it looks...) And the cam covers got a new coat of blue. Looks a lot better than the black. Inlet plenum in black. I have seen them in rough cast ali, polished ali, colour coded to the motor...whatever you want. I decided on black. The main body has had a slight buffing with graphite powder, giving a slight luster without being overly shiny..... Also started with the electrics.... Continues.......
  24. Dirk, words fail me..... I think everyone has covered all the superlatives to describe what you're presenting us with. Stunning is the best I can do, and that no where near covers it.....
  25. Joe, the engine and oiling system look fantastic mate. Great work! That Home Depot chrome works a treat too, looks to have just the right sheen to it. Nice find.....gonna have to track down something similar.
