  1. Oh my ........... Man...talk about being lost for words.....John, simply AWESOME ! I can't believe you've only been at this a little over a month....that's simply incredible considering the amount of work I'm seeing before me.... So sorry I didn't get in earlier man, but I'm sure glad I found it now.
  2. Thank you so much Clay, Chris, Len, Joe and Richard. Clay, yes...I would say the step down to 1/16 hasn't done any harm... It's a little easier because there's a bit more in variety of parts availability too. Not having to start from scratch with every turn you make.....think that's what slowed the big one down a tad... I have a good feel for this already. Chris, yeah, the linkage is only loosely fitted so far (testing), but the rod ends (from Rob) are his pre-drilled ones. I scratched around to find a suitable size stainless rod, cut it to length and bingo.....The rod will get a jam nut at both ends during assembly. Joe, that was some very old brass mesh.....goodness knows how old, or where I got it.... Still not 100% sure I'll stick with it.....it just seamed the obvious choice with the brass pedal arms. Unless I come up with better, they'll probably stay.... Didn't achieve a whole lot last night.......I dozed off around 4.30pm........ (too big of a weekend....) Awoke around 12.45am this morning...............AAAAHHHHH ! I did manage to make 2 new levers for the linkage. I shortened the clutch end and made the other one (1/24 plug loom) stronger. The actual bar between the rod ends is now more free flowing in movement and doesn't bind. Will try to add a few more bars tonight, then it's just a case of waiting on my order from Michael (Dirtmodeler) so I can add some tabs and things... cheers guys Greg
  3. I .....want........that steering column........ Clay, it's near on impossible to improve on perfect, but you have the knack of doing that with each new post........... I've never had the opportunity to follow a build of yours live (as they say), but man, I gotta say....this is so much fun, and a whole re-learning experience. Thanks for sharing mate.
  4. Most EXCELLENT ! Tyrone, that looks spectacular, and the last shot with the body......made me go weak at the knees......Awesome mate.
  5. Chuck, they come up looking very nice. You keep churning out these super kool old school Funnycar decals, I'm gonna have to give one a try....
  6. Man, this beast is totally AWESOME ! So sorry I've missed this Brad, but I'm pleased as punch I caught it now. Excellent work mate.
  7. Chris, SUPERB ! Man, now that it's got an even colour, it shows how much extra you put in, a LOT easier to see in my opinion. Not saying that we couldn't tell before.... but I just did some comparisons with an "old" 1/16 chassis I got laying around....... But man.......it's like chalk and cheese.......Yours looks a MILLION times better. GREAT work buddy.
  8. Joe, that's some nice work mate. For a 26 year old lathe, she's still turning out nice pieces man. (pun intended.. )
  9. Hey, thanks Tyrone and Bart. Bart, yeah, I actually have Paul's email onboard too, but finding names in this stupid Outlook is ridiculous... I think Rom is onto it. Well, this is just a refresher update related to this morning. Didn't get as much done as I'd hoped, but it's some.... Clutch linkage, pedal box to can. Small brackets are flattened 1/16 tube and an old 1/24 plug wire loom.....RBMotion fittings. Large diameter aluminium tube is just a "dummy" for mock up Clutch and brake assembly almost complete. I'll add some kool tabs from Dirtmodelers set when they arrive, much the same as what Clay has done. Finally got to use my new iron....had it well over 6 months. Forgot how much fun soldering was. That's it for today, sorry guys. Will see how much I can push through this week...... Thanks for checkin' in, and please, throw any questions or critique this way. cheers Greg
  10. LOL Thanks Bart. Hey, this would almost give us the ultimate line-up, don't you think....? Knowing what I have learned regarding production costs involve (yes, it ain't cheap, but not over exorbitant either...)my mind has been running a muck.... So many possibilities it's scary....I need to talk to my finance broker.............
  11. Aw Chris, that's a shame man...getting all this way, then finding you missed a couple of tabs..... As penance you should go back in and add another 10.......somewhere. Jus' kiddin' man. Another day til primer, that's kool man, better you noticed now than during final assembly.
  12. Tyrone, this build is looking rock solid mate, great chassis execution..
  13. Thanks Jim, Wayne, Richard and Kane. Small update........weather has gone down the tube here today, so haven't been able to get out and tear into the body work. So small bits of chassis and engine work have had to keep me occupied.... First off, the motor needed to be drilled right through...even the Lenco. This Bondo is tougher than I thought. Found an old F/car seat which I have started to re-shape. Test fitting the motor. Front motor plate is only for mock up purposes.... Added several more bars in place (as seen above), and started to think about mounting points....yeah, getting them in early. Thanks to Clay's great build on his 'Stang, I have learned to plan ahead this time. Pedal assembly started. And a shot just resting in place. I need to make and mount the end locators before I go too much farther. Working on the locator points now, along with some more bar work..... Will try another update later if I can get enough done. Thanks for stopping by, and hope you like so far guys. cheers Greg
  14. Chris.....buddy..pal..................maaaaaaate, I only got 1 thing to say to you................. You have my mailing address now. Mate, take a well earned break, straight after you primer it of course. That is the closest thing to real, I have ever seen. FANtabulous work on a rolling piece of ART !
  15. Hmmmm......maybe he just needs a gentle nudge Rom. No pressure Dave..
  16. LOL That was my first thought......... We don't have that line of store/shop down here, but we do have St Vincent dePaul. May have to check 'em out, thanks.
  17. Great work here Niko. LOVE how you made the rear suspension clip, looks like it's straight from a catalog. Nice work. The rear wheels look better with bigger dish too mate, much better. Looking forward to seeing this come together for you mate.
  18. 3D Not going to speculate too much as it's too early............................ I have started taking very early steps at looking into the feasibility and merit of such a venture....I personally would LOVE to see the attention to detail available with 3D, thrown into a truly accurate body of a current 63-67 ProMod Vette, (even a 71 Duster...??) as with what Dave did for us with the 69 Camaro which is gorgeous... This post is not intended to raise peoples hopes, more of an indication of what may come to fruition, all cards falling as they should. IF someone has similar ideas, and get in before me, that's how it goes........I'll still buy one. Despite the cost of 3D, I do believe it is a major player in our future, as far as accurate items from the aftermarket go. Resin will never disappear, but 3D at least offers a few alternatives to us guys, and we all know, IF we want something bad enough, we save up for it. And the BEST part, most things can be done in a variety of scales. As I said, do NOT raise hopes too high.....it is only very early. If I can't make things happen as desired, it will fall apart. I am a dreamer, but this idea I would love to see happen. My apologies Rom for the deviation.
  19. Michael, sorry I'm no help to you here mate. I've had somewhat of an unsuccessful scrounge around the net too. I believe this shifter sure would be a welcome addition though. Fingers crossed that Dave R (above) has some luck for you mate.
  20. Haha, hey Zac, many thanks mate. Aye, you may notice this build slow down for a bit man....just having a few teething problems. Nothing we won't climb over eventually. Thanks again for you very positive feedback man.
  21. Many thanks Chris. Hey, you know.....you, along with all the other great builders (and builds) are solely responsible for my turning to 1/16. Just watching you guys work has me sitting (drooling) in awe.......I don't wish to single anyone out, cause I think we're ALL doing fabulous work. And NO !....................................You can NOT start your 1/16 ProMod just yet. Kidding of course mate, as I don't want to distract you away from your amazing Funnycar build.
  22. Haha Yeah, you knew it was gonna happen sooner or later Rom. PM sent back atya buddy. More bars added, plus I've started "honing" or hogging....out the body interior. That sounds kinda weird I know, but these things are t h i c k ................ and I want the cage to tuck up inside nice and neat. Should make it a good deal lighter as well. I realize Terry had to make them thick to help hold their shape, but a little thinning won't hurt none. Pics tomorrow with luck......
  23. Double what Chris said. Yeah, I've had a sneak peek as well Rom, and I am very.....very.............very tempted. Better hold off for a while though......
  24. Thanks for your very kind words Niko. Have added a couple more bars to the chassis.....slowly picking up the pace.
  25. Cheers Joe. Mate, yes..they are awesome in my opinion. $50US, but worth the coin. Complete, hat to sump, including Lenco.
