  1. Whilst working my way towards the top (and completion) of the motor, I thought I'd better decide on how I wanted to "connect" it all up...... I finalised a shaft for the butterflies, deciding in the end to file the back half off some 1/16 aluminium tube. It had started out as filing 3 separate slots to slide the butterflies into, but the tubing gave way on the second slot, so I went with the cheaper alternative. Once I had that decided and done, I turned to the linkage. Shaped and chiselled from scrap stock, a lever for the top (scoop) and lower (fuel valve) were made. RB-Motion rod ends and nut, along with some scrap stainless tube make the link. Well, as the year draws to a close, and having 3 weeks annual leave up from this Friday, I sure hope to get heaps of progress in for you'll during the next few weeks.. Wishing all my good mates here a truly wonderful and safe holiday season, enjoy your families, and build on..... Merry Christmas guys. Greg
  2. Hey, thank you so much George, Chris, Joe, Romell and Bart.. Hehe..George, I know I'm a glutton for punishment....and I wonder why at times.... Chris, yeah....it just looked a bit "bare" with the covers placed straight on the heads..I like how the gaskets turned out. Well, actually threw a bit of primer and colour around this weekend. Looks better than just bare plastic. Rocker covers got a coat of gun-metal grey, followed by a good gloss coat of Champaign Gold. It's close to the factory look of these things I think... Also got busy drilling some holes for the fuel injection lines. RB-Motion again got the nod for the hardware. (as well as some unknown brand for the tiny elbows....)Also set up a return line off the distribution block. Front view, puke connections painted and bolted in place. ProMag got shot with metallic silver, followed by some clear red. Also added some extra bars to the inner chassis and cage area. And finally got around to mounting the tranny slide mounts....man, that was not fun, but it's done now. Continues.......
  3. Holly shmolly.......... Dave, you're going to belt this one outta the park man. That rear end member looks nothing short of spectacular. GREAT news on the body too.....hope it all pans out for you (and us ) as I can see maybe another 1/12 coming this direction, along with a 1/16 ..
  4. Ahh....I had wondered what, or where the NACA ducts were headed.....Had seen them on Shapeways site. Looks EXCELLENT Dave. Great work man.
  5. Oooh, Mike's been busy. Looks GREAT man. I'm pleased you carried over the "smoke" theme to the tin work, that looks excellent. Very nice progress man, keep at it.
  6. Excellent work Joe. This ALL looks fantastic, and is showing early stages of being a top shelf contender.. The reverse shifter and hand brake I like particularly well. The pedals and overall appearance looks spot on.
  7. This is showing most excellent progress Chris. The chassis is going to look amazing when completed mate. (and nah, you're not off ya rocker, you're dedicated... ) Keep at it man, can't wait to see more of this baby.
  8. (thumbs up emoticon inserted) Cheers Wayne. Messed with the printer and some clear Bare Metal decal sheet, they come out looking absolutely mint. I have some white sheets on order, as I hadn't realised so many of what I have as sticker "copies" have clear backgrounds....leaving body colour exposed. All good though, and very easy to size up etc....Highly recommended.
  9. AWESOME builds guys....finished or not. Man, I haven't finished one in well over a year.... but that will change in 2012.
  10. Also made up a new ProMag system....the old one just didn't to look the part.... A collar was made to suit, and a small support bar was added to it. Made 2 breather tubes for the crank venting system, they will lead to a forward mounted "puke" tank. Here's a few pics of the work. Bracket and Mag... Same, but with the puke line outlets bolted in place...... Hoses "loosely" fitted....... (Note; the hose is from an old printer... ) An over-view from the front..... Oh, I've also had a go at printing my own decals...... I used Bare Metal clear decal sheet, but really wish I had gotten the white..... Still, they DO look amazing........ Thanks to Wayne for his tips and pointers in guiding me towards success. More soon guys, and thanks for stopping by. Greg
  11. Thanks so much Derrick and Jerome. Well, it's mid-week already.....missed a weekend update by that much........................ Work has still concentrated on the motor, with small details added to the chassis. (no pics of that, just some bracing and the front engine plate mounts) Got creative and made some rocker cover gaskets. Used an old paper (thin cardboard) business card. Traced around the rocker covers, marked the bolt holes and "punched" them out with a hope-made punch. I used the stainless (?) needle tube from an old Revell glue dispenser, filed the edge down so it was pretty sharp.. Here's the result The covers themselves are getting closer to where I want them...... Detailed (?) the edge of the gaskets with a blue Sharpie, they are a bit hard to spot, but this pic shows them pretty good.... Continues......
  12. Ah Dave......I've been dreading this moment................................... Nah, kiddin' of course. Man, I'd been secretly hoping (wishing) you would start a WIP on this soon man. Mike's car is one serious piece of machinery, and I just know........you're gonna nail this. The Bruno looks the goods already, and the body art sure shows lotsa promise. Keep us posted mate.
  13. Outstanding springs to mind on this Syd. Great work mate.
  14. Aaaaah Derrick, that looks the goods man, LOVE'it. The blue straps sure set it off too buddy, and makes me think about adding a blanket to mine.....Hmmmm
  15. Great looking chassis there Mike. Hey, lovin' the "smoked" look to the tank restraint too....might have to try that at some point.
  16. Mike, I'd say you're keeping up pretty darn well mate. These bigger scale builds will always consume a bit more time and thought, mainly because we have to make so much ourselves, from scratch. Looking forward to updates as they happen man.
  17. OMG ! Quick, someone get around to Chris' place......he's skipped his meds again................................. Chris, GREAT work bud, the chassis mods are looking outstanding. Dropping in on an irregular basis as I do, it's always a great pleasure (and joy) scanning your updates man.
  18. I'm with Darryl.......likin' very much what you have placed before us man. The block looks gorgeous.
  19. Yep, what Brett and Michael said. AWESOME work Tyrone. The paint work looks superb mate.
  20. Derrick, this is going way out there brutha.. I can only hope my motor looks like this once I get close to adding all the extras.. (and stealing an idea or two from you. ) GREAT work my friend.
  21. Joe, if that's not the best answer/advise I have heard, I'll go bat for the other team...... Very hard to find any 2 chassis, exactly the same, even from the same shop. Building it to suit the body is the best advise. And I must say, you are doing one heck of a GREAT job here. The tunnel, pedals, the seat loops.....ALL look fantastic, and match the chassis perfectly.
  22. Hey guys, Joe B, Joe K, Dave, Tyrone, Matt, Derrick, Dalton and Mike. Thank you all for your very kind words and encouragement. I'm having somewhat of a lazy day today, home with a stomach bug... and I don't even feel like bench time, which is worse than being crook. Dave, no oil.....wasn't sure where to add it. Thanks mate. Matt, don't hesitate man.....it's a jump (or step) you won't regret. Derrick, begged, borrowed or stolen, that's where most my ideas come from. Mike, yes, the trans is from TDR. Very kool indeed.... The body hasn't progressed much farther than it was Mike. Trying to get some chassis work completed, so I can check fit issues before it gets too far.. All in all though, it looks good just resting on the work bench. I'll attempt to get some more action leading up to and including the weekend.... I have "finished" both BAE rocker covers.....though, they will be getting refined before I'm 100% happy with them. Couldn't believe I almost forgot to make one....... Was difficult making a matching pair, but they're pretty close. More soon guys, so stay put......... cheers Greg
  23. I can but add to the " happy customer + " part of this. I believe Tim and his mates at TDR are doing an absolutely super job, getting a lot of never before offered parts out to us guys. One can only hope that his project is supported well enough, well enough to keep him busy, and all of us happy. Or vies-versa.... Just clicked through their catalogue a short while ago, and yes.....there's more bits I need....
  24. Oh yeah....That just screams "I am the koolest"................. GREAT build mate. Don't suppose you got any "before" pics...? Would love to see how much work required to straighten it up as you have done. I'm thinking it would make a great tow/service car for a drag build. So, I guess a few dents couldn't hurt.
  25. Oooh, now this is looking mighty tasty....... The "Bruno" looks terrific Mike. As does the whole build I should add. Nice to see something a bit "older" getting drawn into the growing mix of bigger drag racing builds.
