Hmmm... This could be something I might get into as well.....definitely shows promise I think. In the "under consideration" slot.

69 Daytona Pro Mod 1/16th scale updated 4/3/12 ..It's a wrap!
stump replied to Romell R's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Ah, Rom....yes, I've missed my journey here the last few days. But man, my day gets brighter seeing your great updates. The pic above is my personal favourite thus far... The pedals and dash look FABulous too mate. Great stuff !! Whenever I need inspiration, I know just where to turn. It is in copious abundance right here at MCM. -
Oooh, you have a great taste for cars David, I like that a whole lot. And I saved the pic, thanks. Yes, I think (secretly hoping) the after market really comes alive for this, it will open up a plethora of options. Can't wait for mine to arrive now.....just so I can check wheel/tyre options. Gregg, she looks absolutely stunning in black with the white stripes applied too....very, very sweet job.

Ooooh, Jeff.....I am LOVING this already. You definitely got the skills needed for body work mate, use it to the fullest. Will be watching this one too.

Follow-up to “What would you like to see made?”
stump replied to futurattraction's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
WOW !! Scott, between you and Michael, you guys are serving up some delicious entrees for us drag builders.... I'm gonna have to get back down to 1/25 scale if you's keep this kinda thing up. Unless of course, some 1/16, or even....dare I say, 1/12 stuff rolls along....... -
Great looking build Clay. Hey, and don't sweat it about the details, super detailing is way over rated, coming from a detail nut, I know. Is that a resin body, or one you made from a kit. ? (I'd say you hit the flavour nail right on the head too. )
-
Woohoo ! Finally.....now, back to the bench. What's next. ?? Dave, absolutely spectacular, and a true joy to have been witness to the best scratch building this century. I'm gonna have to buy that air ticket now......I NEED to see this thing close up. Great work my friend.

Aye Derrick, now you're in the zone mate. Love it. Keep at it mate, you're inching closer to that line by the second.

!/8th Offset Sprint Car
stump replied to Old Sprinter's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
I'm with the other guys Ken, this looks absolutely FABulous so far. Two thumbs up. May I ask what size tubing for the cage in 1/8 ? Keep chipping away mate, I reckon you have a winner in the wings. -
Thanks so much Darren, your very kind words brings a smile to my face mate. The Datsun has been on the back burner for a while....I was feeling early stages of Nissan burn out......(working on 3 of them ) But I hope to get back to it before too long... Hey, thank you too Rom. Yeah....paint ideas have been running riot thru my head lately......still have no real plan yet, probably a plain Jane scheme knowing me.......

Looks great in black too. Still leaning towards blue...... (hoping/wishing that an aftermarket decal set will come, with stripe colour options.... )

This will be a sweet build, I can get a feel for it already..... Great work on the chassis fabrication Lui, and it looks like that nice resin bod will look right at home on-board.

FULL BUILD REVIEW: 1/12 Revell Shelby Mustang GT500
stump replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
AWESOME !! This is coming together really well David. Maybe a photo-etch set would be all that is required to really make those brakes "pop"............?? But, yeah, they look quite ok as is. The decals are a nice touch. Any idea on a size of the tyres David ? I guess they are molded as "no name" brand, as with most kits today.. Can't wait to get my grubby mits all over one of my own now......c'mon already. -
Thanks so much for your very kind words Darren. Mate, yes..everything I have made so far are with just regular modelling tools. Always wanted a lathe and mill, but never got around to it. The only "machined" parts are those supplied by Dave, his exquisite wheels he machined up (masters for me to make copies of) and the aluminium pulleys. And believe it or not, I'm not that good at 1:1 scale.
-
Yes, you are correct Derrick, why should we need an excuse. It's ordered. Thanks mate. Thanks Richard. Yeah....don't think I really want to travel this road (promod) again for a while..... The 2010 'Stang would make a pretty kool tow car though..... and yes, a 69 would be the ultimate 'Stang for a 1/12 kit IMHO.

Rom..............................SUPER !! Hey, what colour (brand) is that purple you used to anodise those fittings, it looks spot on. -
66 Nova Pro Street Long Term Project
stump replied to eviltwincustoms's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Hey Bart, I can't help with the tyres , but this is another great build you have on your hands here. And don't worry about time frames.......ALL great builds take time. -
Thanks so much Dave, Randy, Richard, Tyrone, Santiago and Chris. Man, it's amazing how much fat you can trim off things when you need to. I think (?) the motor is now some 4mm lower in the chassis than it was. NEW front motor mount (plate) and all.....New thinner sump.......(almost complete) Still need to re-align the Lenco and can, but there should be no real dramas there.... Been re-working my carbon 3-hole scoop too...apparently Tamiya 2-part putty has a shelf life. This stuff I had on hand was easy....a couple of years old. Sets up in 12 hours.......yeah, right. Mine has been curing for a week, and was still tacky. Haven't handled it for several days, so I hope it's gone off by now..... Just waiting on several items from Rob @ RBMotion, fuel and oil line fittings, then things will start to hot up. So close to ordering (Edit), ORDERED a new 1/12 Mustang.......like I need another excuse to buy more kits. (late model ProMod 'Stang...................OH YEAH ! )
-
Derrick, super as always mate. I'm thinking that chute mount looks good enough. IF anything, it may be a tad high...(?) It could get some turbulence up there. Most I see have them tucked down below the wing, but I will admit, I have not looked at many with the Fueler wing.. Just a thought.....
-
Yes, they DO look very sharp Dave (and Tim ) Can't wait to see them residing in their home to be. This sounds like it'll be a killer motor Dave. I have a set coming in 1/12, so will post pics in a thread at some point.
-
Bart, that's one hellova entrance. And welcome. And yeah...if ProMods are the hot ticket, they're here in abundance mate. Can never have too many I reckon. You're off to a cracking start on the chassis, looks superb. Appears to be fairly advanced in progress too....you better give us a look with body on-board. Another great thread bookmarked, I'll be tagging along on this journey.

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
stump replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Hey Chris, as other buds have said...this thing is OFF the hook ! The tabs to hold the fuel cell in place are a nice touch, much better than just "gluing" a strap in place. Coming along very nicely mate. Oh, just tried to help out with a search for mounts....saw the one you found, plus a lot of other pics not worth a cracker..... I'll throw a curved ball and say option #1 Seems to flow with the chassis better..... But as you say, it will probably be a last minute call, once you have the body ready for testing purposes.... -
FULL BUILD REVIEW: 1/12 Revell Shelby Mustang GT500
stump replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I like your way of thinking Trey.. Though, in all honesty...I do NOT think it would look too out of place. I reckon it will hold it's own, even with a lower level of details. (I'm also secretly wishing Revell had given us a bit more, but that's not gonna stop me from getting several......) That interior ROCKS David. Just some simple paint detailing goes a long way. Oh, and the chassis, I would've done mine (when I get them) with body coloured over spray too.....Good to know either way can be correct.
