  1. Man, so much goodness been going on in my absence.... Truly a lesson in carbon application if ever there was one........simply stunning David. (actually, stunning is not even close...words can't express how much I am in awe.... )
  2. Hey Thomas, sorry I missed this earlier mate. That is a GREAT build up of a sweet looking car. Nice to see it wearing different livery to what is the norm. The driver is a neat touch.
  3. Um...I'm gonna feel a tad embarrassed going in to a shop asking for those.... Fantastic work progressing here Rom. And I love the jack stand. That come with the kit I guess..?
  4. Hey Ricky, thanks to yourself and Dave, my Datsun enthusiasm is slowly regaining momentum. Guys, I know this build (well, 3 x 240Z builds...) is waaaay long overdue on an update, but you may be pleased to hear, things are ramping up again. I have a container load of bits and pieces on the way, mainly a host of nuts, bolts, fittings and such so I can try to get these big boys done.... ALL 3 (maybe 4 ) will be of near equal detail, with the exception of adding working hand-brakes, opening glove compartments and the like.... There have been (and are continuing) some small changes of plans along the way, mainly concerning power plants.....Bare with me while I try and explain. This original build, the 240ZG (OS-Giken motor) is now going to be getting a turbo-charged RB26 GTR engine. It will still be painted blue. The "stock" 240Z build, (originally with stock motor) will now be getting the OS-Giken motor. It will be orange, to match the car that inspired the build up of the twin-cam motor. The remainder of this build will still be "stock" with the interior coming from a ZG kit, discarding the race bits from the rally car. The only addition to body mods will be a custom made front chin spoiler, just like the car that it is to replicate. #3 build will be a completely stock 240ZG, with the stock engine from the kit above.... Phe-eew.....There you have it. Really it's just a couple of simple motor swaps, but getting them ALL to work was a bigger challenge than actually building them. Re-arranging fuel supply lines was the biggest hurdle, since most of these have been in place for a good while, it took me a while to re-think every thing... The OS-G motor needs to have the exhaust headers rebuilt, as the glue (super glue) has deteriorated and they come apart. The new fuel system is now completed and installed on the orange car, and looks something like this....... The original fuel lines were left in place, as I didn't want to putty all the old mounting holes.... It also enabled me to use the "return line" and still have it as a functional line, connected to the new fuel block, draining back to the fuel tank. The old supply line has been disabled and blocked off. There we are.....The work bench is now in session. Stay tuned for more as it happens, as I really hope to get the 3 of these progressing at a similar rate of assembly...... Thanks for your continued interest and following guys, I hope you like the small changes. Cheers Greg
  5. Very kool project Bill. Loving the body work so far, very well executed. And the idea of a small block Ford sure rings my bells. Just wish I could help with locating one for you. You need to find someone parting out a new Mustang.... that would be the gun. Me, I'm going the easy way and slipping in the "predictable" Chev. I have one sitting here ready for when I get another 240...
  6. Thanks Ray and Antonio. Ray, looks like you may be a Holden fan, hey?? Nice avatar.
  7. That's going to be WICKED Joe. Another great build to follow.
  8. Thanks guys. Cato, I'm so sorry mate, the GT40 was part of my recent re-shuffle of life, and she has passed on to another home, where hopefully it will get the attention it rightly deserves. Bill, you are correct mate, and I still haunt there occasionally, though not as an active participant.... And yes, you and Casey will be pleased to know the big Datsun is first back on the bench. Still a good ways to go with it, and I really want to get it done.
  9. Ok....it's all falling into perspective now..................... That "scale motor" you've been posting, is REALLY out of the 37, ain't it??? No, seriously....you have no idea how much I have missed this stuff from you Dave. I am so pleased to finally get back and see some truly amazing work being handed to us by one of the best guys out there. Thanks mate. GREAT work securing your new "street car" too......that will be wild, and another amazing build to watch evolve.
  10. What's THIS?? Rom, building in 1/8......and it's a Ferrari no less....................... Just kidding mate. Man, you know I do love a good large scale build, and this is 1 sweet build you have right here mate. The old saying of turning a sours ear into a silk purse comes to mind. These larger Pocher kits really should have a lot of this great detail already in the kit, such a shame that another high cost trans-kit is also required. Never the less, I know that with your attention to detail Rom, you will even surpass that level, plus have a hoot doing it. GREAT work mate.
  11. Joe, I thought you'd be finished this by now............................... Only kidding mate. Man, this is another build going way beyond the red on the awesome scale Joe. SUPERB work my friend. It all looks to be coming together so well, the chassis, the motor work......man, I got some serious catching up to do. Keep picking away Joe, this will be a winner.
  12. Steve, Gorgeous work mate, specially on that motor. Having done similar, I know what you went through to build that. The whole build is really shaping up nicely, and I'm jumping onboard for the ride home. Look forward to seeing more mate.
  13. John, This build is out of this World mate. The detail, simply put, is astounding......there, I'm lost work words really...... Every time I look at a photo, I see something else that stands out. GREAT work mate. 10/10 from me. PS; I'll shoot you a PM with my address, just so you know where to send it when you're done.
  14. Chris, you have no idea how much I have missed checking this incredible build mate. But you should know, I'm much better now I've checked it all out....I'm like, OMG this is looking insane! GREAT work mate. Two giant thumbs up from this Aussie. Thanks for brightening up my morning man.
  15. Hey guys, Well, I think I'm ready to immerse myself in plastic dust and whittled spru once again.... Man, where do I start..... First off, I never really left the hobby......I just needed a break. Took a trip to a local Show/Expo to convince me something had to change.... I've really slackened off in the last 5 years, completing my last two fully finished builds over or around 4 years ago.... Seeing all the great builds at the Show got my creative juices flowing again, so this next 12 months I hope to get at least one big car (1/12) completed, to put in the Show next year....That's the plan anyways...... During my recent spell (the last few months?? you can insert quite a few in there..) I haven't been totally idle..... I came down with a disease, a bug for want of a better term.....it was confirmed as the "diecast bug"........ The good news is, I think I'm in recovery mode. It was swift when it hit, and the feeling is slowly passing...... It secured me about a dozen models, give or take a few.....and it quenched my thirst for seeing a completed model on the bench in no time. There were unforeseen side effects though, like the urge to MODIFY them..................... DOH! If you are browsing my pages @ Fotki, you may already have an idea of the trauma I have been through...... This, just a taste of how serious things got, I finally finished yesterday. Started out as an "out of box" Biante 1/18 1977 Holden Torana A9X. Which is a pretty kool model straight up.....But, I wanted more....... Yeah, looks pretty good, hey?? Well, as you probably well know, I hate to leave things just as "as is"...................So, the old brain went into overdrive. I think the difference is amazing, and I am now happy to have it on display. Give me some time to get my head back around the goings on here, I can already see there has been an unreal amount of work getting done... Hopefully, I'll be back sharing with you all very soon. Cheers Greg
  16. Cheers guys. Richard, thanks for the idea regarding grill-headlight-tail lights...I have searched and found what I think may be useful. Dave, yes. I think these 1/16 parts come cleaner and better quality than the earlier 1/12 parts. They are improving all the time, hey. And again, no. No bags going on these goodies. Bart, you do have a very keen eye mate. Not sure that was going to be picked up or not, great spotting. Yeah, I'm really hoping I can get around the size difference by making my own inlet manifold...................................OR..... I could wait for you to get that TDR block, modify it, then sell me a copy. But seriously, I'm sure I'll step around the issue with a newly tooled manifold......... Rom, you knew I was gonna break down eventually, huh...... Thanks man. Well, still no update....well, at least it's only a written one......been battling a stupid head-cold/flu since Thursday night. Been in deep slumber pretty much right through. I have started making some 4-link brackets for the 11inch rear, so looks like the 69 will be getting a fabbed 9inch with the kool Strange centre. Had my parts arrive from Michael on Friday as well, so I can start to get ready to hang the rear-end. Progress on the 69, the 2 heads are on the bench, and the block has received some extra attention too... More to follow as things unwind.......
  17. Man, that motor is ready to haze the streets already..... Another interested party to the "how did you do the welds" crew. They look so realistic Dave, great work.
  18. Bart, you know you want to.....you want to start on this 1/12 Mustang idea straight away, huh ? You better send me the Vette if that's the case. Man, I for one, can not wait to see what you have in store for us with this big baby.
  19. Cheers guys. Tyrone, I know what you mean. I don't know that I can afford to raise the next hand though.... Thanks for stopping in John. It's the inspiration I get from guys like yourself that keep me trying harder. Thank you too Bart. Yeah, the inside-out design was more intended to help keep it all square. Not sure it worked like that though. I may re-do the main block at some point, but this will serve as a nice "dummy" block for testing purposes. And a big YES ! Your great "block build" definitely inspired this one. Kane, thanks for dropping by mate. Appreciate your kind words man. Robert and Richard, thanks heaps for stopping in guys, glad you like the work so far. Well, I had a very nice surprise waiting for when I got home from work today. Nice new 18-71 Kobelco blower, fresh from the bag, no clean up at all yet. It comes with short and long snout extensions. New TDR Lenco, I actually got two of these...... A Strange Ultra case. I have a resin 9inch, but may opt to make a new one.....will see....... An 11inch rear end kit. Still up in the air as to which build will get what rear-end....... Also got some of the really kool 1/16 Uni-joints. And.................a sneak peek at what's to come...........................Yes Bart, I hope to do a side-by-side build with both. First impressions ?? A beautiful canvas to work from. Yes, there are little areas that need massaging, but it's gonna be a lot easier than resin work I presume....This is going to be FUN ! Thanks to Dave for getting something as ultra-kool as this, for us guys to work with. It's not 1/12 as I would have liked, but it makes a great second choice. A note to any of our resident decal guys. We are going to need some kool headlight-grill and tail light decals in the future. please. Thanks for stopping in again guys, I hope to get something worth while posting over the weekend. cheers Greg
  20. All good Bart. Hey, I seen your Vette, so we know you have at least been busy.
  21. AWESOME Tyrone. Hey, I'll be basing my 1/16 build off a lot I have seen here mate.
  22. They are both looking very good Fred, I like your direction and your attention to detail. If I could trust my eyes, I too would love to build one of these. As it is, I already have too many 1/25(24) builds in my stash that probably will never get built.
  23. This build is floating along at a nice pace John, your work always looks impeccably clean. Great stuff.
  24. Chris, agree with Richard in regard to dry-brush or spray...it turned out GREAT as is mate. That has to be the totally koolest cork gasket ever, it looks just right.
  25. That is really very nicely done. Particularly like the subtle weathering you added, it adds greatly to, and follows your great story line.
