  1. Hey kids after months of sweat, more pictures to share ! Ed Shaver
  2. Russel, all I can visualize is the fact that you wont be able to dissern the depth of the orange as the pearl is and was a very small part of the paint make- up . I would certainly try the spoon test first . I also am aware of Krylon making a translucent orange in their Short Cut line . I have also seen a pearl coat as well. Even in the 1-1 world , Pearls in general have a charicter of their own and depending on airflow , humidity and how you kept the gun shook up, you might have a decent job. I also disliked pearls as they have to be shot rather thin and that led to orange peel. If you can how about showing us your test results first . I would hate for you to ruin a perfectly good model body. Ed Shaver
  3. What interesting news did K- Dog Ken bring this year ? Ed Shaver
  4. O K Guys , lets show the whiners , moaners and jap cra ......... builders that we car crazed zealouts can be just as powerful as them . I P M S will have their show at the comunity college September 12th. Since I had to miss out on Winston Salem and of course Richmond Virginia this year , I need at least one show to fill the voild. Be nice if I knew iffin some of y'all was goin too. let me know ! Ed Shaver
  5. Sam , concerning the Taurus wagon , yes actually. Still Chip Foose used a lot of Cadillac front wheel drive chassis componets to construct the Deora II. Personaly , I ws thouroughly disaponted oin the truck ( Deora II ) but then Chip Foose and Boyd Coddington never were high in my book any way. Ed Shaver
  6. I have put this out before but I shall do it again ............ GO TO RADIO SHACK , BUY THEIR TRANSFORMER WIRE PACK -IN GOLD ( THICK ) , RED (MEDIUM ) , AND GREEN , VERY FINE NOW WIRE MOTORS OR GAS TANKS OR BRAKES OR WHAtever !!!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  7. Hopefully Dan , the Deora will be a little more accessable when it goes up to a new owners hands . As I understand , the Deora one and two are both stored in the Peterson Meuseuem in what was a department store in Hollywood. Since the kit was a relitive sucess, theres no reason tjhat a decent tour of the truck at major I S C A shows shouldn't garner a lot of traffic as well these days . Hey , if they can re-do the batmobile , why not the Deora. By the way theres a clone of the Munster Koach roaming the streets of Richmond Va these days too. Ed Shaver
  8. As some of you may know , I have several " stalled projeks " . Yeah gotta get to workin on em but ,it's on account of decent reference material too. One is the Dodge Deora. This project got off to a thud as far back as two years ago. I was fooling around a friends computer the other night and discovered that the Dodge Deora now has a website on the Google listings ! First, someone did all the models that have been released over the years concerning the Deora and there is a decent Road test courtesy of Motor Trend Magazine ! There are even DETAILED shots of the interior and that you really should pay close attention as A M T really butchered the parts here . I also have some very eary shots from a one time book called Van Trends that Hot Rod Magazine put out about 1976. There a a few differences in that the console was changed and the biscuit tufted seats were later done in a roll and pleat . Still you can see the " Evoloution of the truck from 1967 to say 1974. I guess it pays to colntinue on your projeks , no matter how stalled they get ! Ed Shaver
  9. Im currenly going to be showing both a 41 Wyllis Americar and a 41 Wyllis truck both stock within the Amoco Projek a diorama thats in the diorama section now . meanwhile go to Google. Some guy there did a Stock Wyllis using either an A M T or a Revell Wylis coupe . The parts needed to make a stock car pretty much can be raided from a 1940 Ford as they were really close . Ed Shaver
  10. Emily , the only advice I'm adding here is on the Candy Red , (ASSUMING IT'S TESTORS ) is to shoot it THIN !!!!!!!!!!!!! YEP, shoot it as thin as ya can as that stuff dries in about ----------- two years , hey seriously about a week if you are lucky . Ed Shaver
  11. Irvin , when I was still resoring cars back until the middle 1990's, I was and always will be afraid of fresh paint . Common man you know one missed move and BAMO __________ scratch ! I know it happened to me so many time I could spit rivets! Still , gotta tell ya not only was the Nassau Blue one of my all time favorite G M colors , the 68-9 ElCaminos were and are the hansomest trucks out there bar none . I only hope you have the current Colectable Automobile as the magazine for August features these trucks in full detail ! Ed Shaver
  12. A list would be helfull and pricing in this day and age is everything ! Even if you cant put up pictures like me , at least tell us what ya do. Ed Shaver
  13. My , how times have changed ! I can well remember when the sight of such a " Professional car " was a common sight too. Very nice work ! Ed Shaver
  14. Pete, the Del- Ray sedan is a new tool that shares a few pieces with the 56 Monogram , now Revell Nomad wagon . Uh if you are thinking that this is a rehash of that old tol from 1963 ?, whoa !!!!!!!!!!!!! Man you will be suprised as to how they improved upon the two Chevrolets might as well have been two different comanies ! Ed Shaver
  15. Jim , the origional intent was to buy several " Parts packs " from A M T as well as Revell . Shoot we used to scratch build or "Kit bash " pieces together in the old glue bomb daze ! The car is really a Model T Ford slightly altered for racing purposes and the tarp was outlawed in 1960 as sanctioning bodies were really getting tough on race cars then . Even though the origional parts pack you're dissussing came out about 1964 , the engines were still being used in both show and race cars. The idea was to expand yet further on the kits of the day. Ed Shaver
  16. Wayne, there are certainly a lot of aspects that really impress me with the diorama. Such are the birds and the dogs , the way you posed them to look more realistic. Well done . Ed Shaver
  17. What is you A PUPPY TRUCKER ? Ed Shaver
  18. I only wish you had told of how you constructed the tank body. See I did the same thing a couple of years ago on a Ford truck model I drove at a local Heating oil jobber here in Richmond Virginia . I took 020 sheet and pretty much rolled it around some internal baffles within the tank. I then took Plastic Auito body filler and made the ends as they were kind of oval . Mabye I should get my helper to re- post the pictures of the truck I did again . Ed Shaver
  19. Does any here remember the European manufactured Amphia car ? Hey they rusted out somthing fierce too. I knew of one in Houston and the dang thing would sink if the rust wasn't taken care of periodicly too ! Ed Shaver
  20. Hey Marshall, iffin yer in the Vicinity of Rickmond Virginia , A K A "The Land that Time Forgot " actually a stopover for Yankee tourists on the way to Florida stop in dude ! Heck , I'll buy the coffeeand show ya why this place really is a freakin Time warp ! Ed Shaver
  21. EXTREMLY INTERESTING WORK THAR SIR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look, I like it and I have heard from several friends that have seen the Diorama section in here that do work for the Virgina Historical Society that they like it so there ------- WE LIKE IT , CONTINUE ! Ed Shaver
  22. Remember kids , this guy used to work at Generic Motas ! Ed Shaver
  23. Gee George , is it Pat's 19th or 20th ? Like the rest of us , he's jus tryin to have a youthful experience ! Happy Birthday Pat ! Ed Shaver
  24. Anyone in the Towing and recovery business should be familiar with the book that National A A A puts out concerning all vehicles that are towed here in the states . SOME CARS JUST AINT GOT NO BUSINESS BEIN TOWED PERIOD. One is ANY B M W !!!!!!!!!! the minute you put ANY B M W on a Hook, the body folds up !!!!!!!!!!! To me that explains a lot as the bodies aren't sturdy enough to me any way to sustain any kind of a crash with out folding up into an unsaleable pile of junk ! I don't care how " well " engineered the B M W is supposed to be . I'll be happy to put a Ford Crown Victoria and stand it up to the last B M W left on a dealer's lot . Guess who's going to win in a severe crash ......... Ed Shaver
