Nickolas , I was selling Plymouths that year . Sold a lot of Dusters too, many with the optional 225 six . Uh the standard was still the anemeic 170. We also had a Few " Gold Dusters" too. They were very hard to get and we were on alocation for them . Also we even had to bribe the factory a couple of times for a " Mod Top" , remember them on the Barracuda ? Ed Shaver

I was in Oaklahoma once on I-40 trying to outrun one just outside Ponca City once . he truck I had wasempty and I was headed back eventually to Dallas to receive another load . I also witnessed yet anotherone in Houston one evening right south of the Intercontital airpoirtat Litle York road and I-45 . That one wasmabye a quarter of a mile from me over by Eastex Freeway ( U S 59 ) . Then I had to help clean up after one landed behind my late fathers house years later in Richmond Va. Naw , you can keep yer Tornadoes ! Ed Shaver -

92 Crown Victoria - 8-29-17 wheels, interior and antenna
Eshaver replied to Foxer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hey, uh hem............... Uh in defense of Crown Victoria s every where, first , I am a car guy every bit one too ! The Crown Victoria was and and is in my opinion one f the all time best stopping , best handling cars , ( FOR IT"S SIZE ) and as for creature comforts, . speaks for it self ! Look I drove as a professional driver part time for a couple of years between Richmond Virginia and Washington D C Rail Road Crews that were comfortable in the car as I was. By the way, they wre actually old police cars , but so what ? The only problem I have ever experencedwith the Crown Victorias has been their crapola Transmissions ! I have yet to see a A O D from EITHER Now GOVERNMENT MOTOR CORP or from Ford with automatic overdrive that did n't fail miserably in city traffic ! Only Chrysler when they still built primarilty Rear wheel drive cars and their 727 Auto had a better automatic transmission! Now since they allowed themselves to be on Mitsibubusi's parts list , they too fell . By te way Mazda now makes the Manual transmissions for Ford and they are miserable to as I have had them on my bench ! Besides . look atthe last " REAL Chevrolet , the Caprice Classic . You think that was a LOOK Magazine award winner ? Ahem , the 1966 Pontic got that award , go see fer yerselves ! Besides , the 1948 Pacard prdicted the styling cues of te Caprice anyway ! The Crown Victoria was intended for hauling families and acting as a Fleet " car capible of holding luggage which it did admirbily. If yo want a small sporty car, go buy a Mustang G T . Ed Shaver -

Sorry Clay, but I have to agree with Harry on dis one big time as I dispise the " Bling" wheels on ANYTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They make everything I have ever seen them on look like a fish out oif water ! as for the Tape paint jobs -------- HO HUMMMMMMMM thats the same stuff that Custom Vans went to in the eighties . Thats also the same time I said good bye to vans and went to building wreckers , 1-1 ones Sorry but Chip Foose aint no designer to me Harry Bradley , Gene Winfield , Darryl Starbird , heck at least they had talent ! Dan , since that engine was used on Dodge trucks and Chryslers , check around and see if someone might have an old Jo-han 62-3 Chrysler Newport that they might be hot rodding . Seems to me that the headers that came from the factory were rather close quartered in the real car . Now I also know as I had a set of 1-1 headers that Chrysler had some racing headers that took half of the pacific ocean to clear too. They were intended for the "Rams Horn " intake with the two Carter A F B 's I can look in the A M T 49 Mercury kit I have to see what headers came in it . I;m going to,build it stock anyway. Uh Arron , and Dave , in defense of both Kits, ( A M T "s 25 and 27 ) First there were several differences to the two kits from 1960 when the origional 1925 Model T Roadster and Coupe came out and then in 1965 , the 1927 Tourer. Even then , over the years depending upon which issue or re-issue you are looking at , you will get a diferent "Custom interior" . The Black plastic era origionals had a Roll and pleat custom interior until the "Stock - Hight " coupe came along in 1965 along with a Biscuit Tufted interior along with winshield supports added and a Beer Keg gasoline tank. Then about 1970, A M T did a never re-released 1923 Model T roadster that had of all things a multi piece frame and a Chevro;et engine optional. This kit had seperate rims and Vynil tires . I think that this was about the same time That A M T did the Fruitwagen and the C-cab trucks . I wish I had either one of those but I wil not pay the Yuppie prices that are being put on them . Now here in you can use the kit that you pictured as I beleive that that was the last re-issue of the roadster . That kit should have the seperate rims and tires that would be considered " CORRECT" up until 1926 when WIRE WHEELS WERE OPTIONAL. The wire wheels can be found in the 1927 kit . Still, note that inorder to build a Correct 1927, you will need to modify the cowl area as the tank was moved from under the seat in 1926 . Also , the hood was changed in 1926 to dispel heat from the engine as well Now to my opinion on which axle and engine are better? Uh mabye the engine in the 27 is a slight bit better in the 27 model. Personaly I think that the Chassis -axle assembly are fine as they are in the 1925 kit too. Just remember that these kits were made from 1-10th scale models and they were in my opinion great for their time . Look way too much of the computer assisted stuff that we enjoy today aint a whole heck of a lot better than we had fifty years ago. By the way , My 1953 Ford Truck has already outlasted yer Toyota ! Yes Jim , I saw it too . Aint it great ? Shoot theres several more " Vintage " service stations here in Richmond Virginia that need to be modeled ! Just check ot Mayo Island , a 1927 Sinclair . on Broad Street, a very classy Atlantic Refining company station that dates to 1921. You can go over to Historic Highland Park and see a 1930 Atlantic in Grek Revival archecture ! Just up the street, a very early Gulf built somewhere about 1920 Man with all these stations I need a case of Mack A C trucks ! Ed Shaver

What was your hardest build yet?
Eshaver replied to vizio93's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I too am not sure if you mean from a kit with " Fit "isues or just plain hard to build . First the Fit issue kit would have to be the old I M C Ford GT kit as the doors wer a good 1-16th away from the body in any posisition . The exaust was a total nightmare . Hey , we didn;t have super glue in 1965 either! As to building a car/truck from scratch......... well, I did build the G M C L'Universalle of 1956 from the Motorama shows . I spent two and a half years just pronding up parts and forming Bondo to try and re-create the van . I also wanted the doors to work just like on the real one . They operate similar to those found in the luggage compartment of a intercity bus . Even after I finially did finish the dang truck , I found out that I did the finish in Copper as opposed to Bronze as I found out later from Rick Wagner of G M that the color was too light .
