  3. Hey everybody - support Chesterfield Hobbies in Midlothian Virginia ! First they sell Model Cars magazine , O K Greg? they sell kit s and they more or less carry the entire load for the I P M S club here that puts on The Old Dominion Open at the Raceway the 28th , yeah , I'll be thar , hopefully....................... Ed Shaver
  4. It almost sounds like Automobile Body filler also commonly known as "Bondo" or body filler . it's been around since the early 1960's and through the years , I have seen it improve drastically. Let me know if you need help determining a suitable product to do modeling with . Ed Shaver
  5. I remember seeing these blocks for sale in the paint departments at both Lowes and Home Depot . Ed Shaver
  6. Certainly a beautiful place to have a show . How far away are you from the mountains there Albert? Thanks for the look at life there ! Ed Shaver
  7. Ken , didn't yer Mom tell ya you could put yer eye out with one dem things? Ed Shaver
  8. Interesting choice for an engine there sir ............ Ed Shaver
  9. Sooner rather than later it does affect things here in the states........... Ed Shaver
  10. Casey, somebody did cause it was listed in the OTHER magazine once . I don't recall who it was either as I wasn't into Rangers just the baseball kind . Ed Shaver
  11. Jody , I got to thinking again about this and then i remembered Yosemite Sam ! Yes the man behind the famous slant chop Chevrolet from 1977. It was a feature in all the magazines at the time . The van was chopped more at the front than at the rear as the back corners had to be SEVERELY angled !In fact the rear had almost a 45 degree slant to it ! As for sectioning such a truck , whew........... an awful lot of curvature in the body both in width and length. If I can find the pictures Jody , I'll send them along. I might still have some in very old and debilitated magazines somewhere . Ed Shaver
  12. Well, ya got to admit the picture really does the old girl justice! I would byy one as I remember the Monogram Kit from the 1960's and I was thouroughly impressed with the fit and finish of the kit . If I remember correctly you could do the roadster as well in the same kit . Too Bad Revell can't seem to re-issue the kit as they did in 62 with new custom parts. The ribbed bumpers are an attractive touch . Ed Shaver
  13. I don't think it's supposed to make sense . Heck the Governmwnt does the sa,e thing I'ts called "Policy" ask the three stoges , Palosi, Reed and Obama ! Ed Shaver
  14. Gosh ,I thought I had thoroughly confused Simon for life in a VEEEERY long P-M to him on this very subject . Now ya'all have even gone a step further ! He probably wont want to come back here fer a visit ever again ! Ed Shaver
  15. Like I said , I have plenty to finish out . I'm still trying to fit things like a wall mounted tire rack and which kind of soda box to scratch build . I need a month just to figure all that out ! Ed Shaver
  16. Art, Both Jarius and I want you to hurry along with the lathe . I know you're talking about the wheels but that dosen't put them in my hand s as we spoke about this subject in our phone conversation . Heck I think it would be wonderful if Jarius could finance a run of the 1932 Ford trucks he did that outstanding pen and ink of in Resin . Meanwhile you could do the wheels and tires . Then I would have to do a period 1932 Service station , Gulf Perhaps? Ed Shaver Hey , WHITE EAGLE GASOLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Lucky , yes do as Harry just mentioned . Sprue is actually the plastic "Runner " that the kit pieces attach themselves to. As for spray cans , heck I use them constantly and unlike some folks here , I even use ENAMELS AND TESTORS AT THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look , in time you will come to find that there other paints and painting methods that you can adapt yourself to. If you have specific questions you want me to answer, P- M me . I generally check this board provided that the computer is working every day . Ed Shaver
  18. The only thing i can think of would be to attach a piece of plastic strip about .015 thick and use a liquid glue such as Testors or Tenax as super glue wont penetrate the material. The idea here is to actually "Weld " the two pieces together . Sometimes it's not a good idea to have opening doors . You need to see if before you cut doors and the like open that there is sufficient material left over after the cuts are made . Ed Shaver
  19. I'll take any wagon (NON NOMAD ) or sedan delivery. Ed Shaver
  20. In my day, there were two kinds of amateur tracks , , Banked kinda and not banked at all. Here in Richmond Virginia home of Denny Hamlin , he would go out with his family to South side speedway out off Hull street Road on Friday night . The track there was dirt until I think about 1968 when it got surfaced about the time the big track at Richmond got asphalt . It's the big leagues there now being a NASCAR track and all. If it were me I would use some Foam Core , the very same stuff I use to build my service stations from . You can either buy real fine "Dirt " from Michiaels or a hobby store . You can also go out and sift your own dirt through a screen sifter too. Still, mix a little very fine black gravel with the dirt as the amateurs had to run what they could afford , that means some oil on the track ! As to banking the track, heck just tilt the corner slightly and glue some wood or some kind of supports under the driving surface . You want the audience to view the Diorama from the front , not the top so much as the front will have a better overall impact . Go out to a race track and take pictures or go to the library and look at every picture you can from every racing event you can find . This is what I do when I'm researching the filling stations sometimes . Ed Shaver
  21. Dave, in all seriousness I really think that you did your homework on the Chevrolet Monte Carlo. I got to looking at that quarter panel and I said to myself, dang That is exactly where those rides used to get the worst of it too! I even was a recipient of a test product from 3-M that was a patch of sorts for doing large rusted out places . The product cured by setting it out in the sun. Well, , needless to say Houston has plenty of sunlight to share ! Very well done Dave ! Ed Shaver
  22. Hey Kid didn't yer mom tell ya that you could put yer eye out with one of those things ? Ed Shaver
  23. Kris, How bout selling a series of Vintage wheels for the Model T T , Model A A and later lighter duty 1 ton trucks such as the Dually Chevrolets and Dodges . I have suggested this to several casters and so far no takers ! Common , ya'll are selling the same products I have already seen ( RACING PARTS). Please??????? Ed Shaver
  24. James , for my bases that i build under my service stations , I generally build them from quarter inch material such as veneer Birch and Synar Cycolac Plastic. Uh sign guys use the plastic . I then build a "Box frame " around the parameter as this strengthens but enhances the project , ( SEE THE SHELL SHAPED SHELL STATION IN DIORAMA). You don't have to glue the board to the frame either . Just put blocks around to "Float the base in the frame ". Look, I saw the I P M S boys doing this with their W W II stuff, judges like it and it wins contests, nuff said! Ed Shaver
  25. Marshal, I'll write a prayer in the prayer book Sunday for you . I'm sorry that some of your fellow model buddies are so wild and crazy . I hope everyone a FULL and SPEEDY recovery too , seriously !!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
