  1. This is from like 2008 or 9. I'm not sure they make these anymore. but you're right - there are some fantastic models out there, just out of the mainstream, i.e. Mint. It has some paint rash due to age, but ca't see it from a distance.
  2. Good idea. I really wanted one of those 69s but think I'm going to wait and build the revell Plastic when it gets here. I've already got a 68 ordered. Waiting for my guy to deliver it. I do a lot fo renovation work for Marathon stations so it would be nice to have one though.
  3. Your story sounds like most of ours I think. We all have a ton of models and little cars and such. My garage was built on foamcore. I painted the base with some gray paint, then wiped it all off, which left a pretty good concrete look. The stains are real - have no idea what they are though. Walls are built from wood with the idea it is how a guy would build a garage in his back yard. And it was based on a friend's building pretty much.
  4. Thanks for the tip on the garage scene. I built one around 20 years ago and drag it out occasionally. Hopefully get around to finishing the stocking of it someday. But here's a photo I had on here a while back. And as others have said, welcome to diecasts. I don't have time and drive to dedicate to big plastic builds anymore. Diecasts are fun. And I'm collecting a lot of cars that weren't done in diecasts before.
  5. I may do some further detailing later. Too cold to go to my workbench in unheated building right now. FG also uses some kinda flexy plastic for their antennae. Unfortunately it is black. Little paint on it wouldn't hurt and detail around the headlights, etc.
  6. This is the car quest version. A little tampo in the quarter windows. Floor mats, battery, spare cover, oil filter, shocks all have cq logos. And I had to hit the logs with the molotow. Had some paint rash but had never been out of the plastic holding it in box. Nice ride. Now maybe a boss 302...
  7. Looks good to me. Day 2 kind of car maybe? It does look low. Nice garage.
  8. You should have something now. Maybe.
  9. First gear has several in 1/34. Not sure if that helps or disappoints. https://www.firstgearonline.com/product-store/refuse-sanitation
  10. For some reason that email will not work.
  11. I will hold on to this one. However, it seems like B5 and variants CLOSE to it ( Chevy Marina Blue) are my favorite too. Getting a predominance of that shade in my builtups and diecasts. Time to look at some other colors. LOL
  12. Update: a few of these still left. Pm me if you want any. So was cruising internet and came across this listing for cars. Found a few I wanted, a few a buddy wanted. Over half the list. So I contacted guy to see if he would entertain an offer. He was already pretty reasonable. To my surprise, he accepted! So wife & I made plans to go next day to pick up. Figured driving would be cheaper and better than shipping. And we had been talking about going somewhere. Dude offered to take us to dinner as well. What's not to like other thant he 5.5 hour trip ion each direction. Turns out, these were his wife's first husband that passed away and they are downsizing so these needed to go. They have a bedroom set for sale that looks like it is for giants. So we made some new friends that are just the right amount of "different", had fun trip, got some cars. ALL of these are for sale. Some on ebay already. PM for details or maybe a quickie photo description. Some have paperwork with them. All but 2 have styro tray and no outer box. Will ship well with styro tray though Soo if you want any of these or to know more about, PM me. Can I list these here? Or is that a violation? If it is, we can edit it out and just leave the list. new car to list - 1/18 Kyosho BMW Z8. Rt front wheel is off. the top attachment point is missing. Could be repaired by a modeler like us. I may try if it doesn't sell before I get a chance. 5. Franklin Mint 1953 Chevy Corvette 1:24 ivory (broken wheel) , missing door mirror - make offer 7. Franklin Mint 1959 Chevy Corvette 1:24 red/white - VERY NICE! 13. Franklin Mint 1993 Chevy Corvette 1:24 dark red 18. Franklin Mint 1956 Chevy Corvette Conv. 1:24 aqua/white missing a few parts - make offer. 20. Franklin Mint 1958 Chevy Corvette Conv. 1:24 w/COA black VERY NICE! 24. Danbury Mint 1935 Dusenberg SSJ 1:24 w/COA gray/red 25. Danbury Mint 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa 1:24 w/COA red few issues with little chrome details on hood and trunk lids 27. Danbury Mint 1966 Ford Mustang Conv. 1:24 w/COA white NICE! 30. Franklin Mint 1938 Jaguar SS-100 1:24 w/COA cream (right door falls off) 31. Danbury Mint 1949 Jaguar XK120 1:24 w/COA gray (broken wheel) more to fix than that. Not sure if I'll part it out or try to repair. 34. Franklin Mint 1935 Mercedes Benz 500K 1:24 red 38. Franklin Mint 1957 Pontiac Bonneville 1:24 ivory (no styrofoam) found previouslymissing parts in the interior. Complete car! I love this one but already have one. 40. Danbury Mint 1927 Stutz Blackhawk 1:24 w/COA black - missing a headlight lens.
  13. Thanks guys. I have watched them before and let them pass whent he price went too high. LIke I said, seller blew it on selling this to the right crowd. I'm a tightwad, so a few missing parts doesn't bother me. But it's a super score when it arricves better than you expected!
  14. Just received this one yesterday. One of the nicest models I've seen. And it's not even my real interest. But price was right. Seller missed a few details that would have made the price go way up. Even has a key in the ignition. Nicely detailed straight 6 with wiring and plumbing. Working suspension, photoetched wire wheels. The little vents on the hood open, hood butterflies like it should. Has little driver's hat, opening trunk with simulated stuff in it.
  15. Thanks for all the compliments. I had forgotten I posted this til today. Snake, I have NO idea. Probably just an air cleaner and decal from something else. I built this kit in a house I haven't lived in for 12 years now, so it is an old build. May have been the first release of this kit. And it was in a Mopar magaize and I tried to build it to match that car. Not enough internet to do research. I'm not even sure where the bench seat came from. Probably in the kit?
  16. Probably not for $10. But certainly within reason for cost of a new plastic kit. I look at many of my diecast purchases in that light. I try to buy them for what I'd have to spend for a plastic kit. And yeah, I had TWO cobra kits built and have a third Fujimi started. Buth the WIX blew them all away for a blue with white stripe version. I sold the builts and will sell the Fujimi at some point. I think the Revellograms are better than the Fujimi in terms of realism and texturing of parts. And my wife loves the WIX and diecasts. Her birthday is 4/27/65 and her last name initials are S/C so a 65 Cobra S/C 427 is fun to her. And she's curvy like a Cobra,.. oops TMI?? LOL
  17. Very nice. I have looked at this one but I already have the Wix version which is like a high water mark for Cobras I think. Comes out very nice.
  18. Love that GTO. I want one of those if one ever comes up reasonably priced for me. Which is usually less than the average buyer. I wish I could assemble a photo of my 2018 buys, but there were a lot of them and they are displayed in different places. I wish our Walmart ever had anything good. Been a while since they've had anything good in 1/64 or 1/24.
  19. Nice Lebaron. I've thought about it but the wife says no way! LOL She actually approves of MOST of my die casts. The weird Cobra from the Mint being the exception. I hated it too, but it was bought for resale and left for about twice what I had in it. The LeBaron wagon needs its own thread. Just saying...
  20. Some of the Ertls are quite clunky. However, if you had a 67 GTO parts car, a Revell 67 interior, heck, you'd have a nice cheap diecast. Wix cars go from really nice to really weird. I won't say bad. Icons never did a 67 Chevelle, so you won't find it there. I have an Icons and a Crown Premium GTO that I intend to compare on here soon. Very nice cars and can be had way cheaper than the Mint versions if you don't need Mint cars. Good luck fixing it up. Be interesting to see how it turns out.
  21. And that the dang truth!!! This is my favorite section of the forum since I am doing so much diecast now. I have a couople guys sending me stuff for repairs/resto now. And they pay just like a real garage, even down to 1/24 scale prices. LOL. It's hard for me to imagine, but there are Mint car collectors out there that have no interest or setup to repair cars they buy. But I enjoy working on them. And I get to review things I don't have sometimes to see if I want them. I bought a Danbury Mint 60 impala conv after seeing one that I repaired. That will be one of my first 2019 cars. Pretty good bunch we have in here.
  22. Here's a 68 Road Runner I built probably around 20 years ago. Was pulling out models to sell and just could not bring myself to sell this one. Built from a magazine article.
  23. I have learned a lot in 2018 from the snake collection. Still haven't learned to stay on topic though.
  24. Idk, but the local display was a wreck last time. Lots of new cars. Lots of beat up cars. They just cram them in there and parts are laying loose in the bins. There is a 2005? GTO that I almost bought, but noticed it was missing one side door windows when I was at the counter. Girl said she'd put it in the box to return. But it RETURNED to the display. Still there after several months. The white GSX I bought was missing the spoiler but it was found in the display loose. Wheels, tires, parts parts, parts. So I'm guessing a box comes in and gets added to whatever is there, no matter how they have to cram them in the display.
  25. Here's the photos I was referencing when I was comparing and thinking. I think the 66 wagon would be workable in this area since it is not going to be a total dead nuts replica of a stock wagon. Needs to have major styling cues of a wagon and GTO. I, and you guys, are usually the only ones that see any of my work. My wife and family see it, but they don't/won't know the difference.
