  1. Now THAT is a real ZIP TIE MOMENT! Fans of Roadkill will get it. If not a fan, you should be. lol
  2. I found my builtup recently. Plain old red 34. I also have a Carquest diecast red with flames. Probably sell off my builtup. No need to have 2. This kit does turn out pretty nice with some work. Great 80s style street rod. The original poster has a nice version going as well. Going to look nice. Funny how we can look back at our older builds and see how far we've come. At least hopefully we are advancing.
  3. I've got an older version of this one. This may inspire me to hold on to it for a while and try to get to it someday. Looks like a nice start and a great idea for it.
  4. Building this one for a friend. Such a nice kit I decided to try to make it my best build to date. Spent a few hours smoothing out the waves and sinkmarks on the body. Rescribed the lines sharper. Went ahead and glued up the frame to have strong bonds where the crossmembers are joined. My buddy collects diecasts mostly, so I have been putting lead sinker weights wherever possible. The engine block is full. Some in transaxle, fuell cells, and behind dash. That will also help it to on all fours later. I started photos late in process. Embossing powder carpet. Plug wires from a spool of red wire from Radio shack. Not much else other than paint details and a quickie carb linkage from PE hood pin plate (yep) and a piece of guitar string. I don;t have patience for more and that was plenty at this point. Paint is Rustoleum auto primer under Rustoleum Cherry Red from lowes. Has some dust, dang it. That's a shame because the paint laid down like glass. I did my most extenxsive prep ever on this one and danged if all the experts aren't right. The better the prep, the better the paint job. I'll polish carefully, but going to let this one dry THOROUGHLY. Red has been tough for me in the past. I did let it dry in dehydrator for several hours yesterday.
  5. Do you have a link? I'm not having much luck locating a Welly.
  6. Ah ok. Got ya. I've only had one bad experience as a buyer and ebay took care of it for me when the seller wouldn't reply. A buddy had a bad deal with a seller and they have disappeared from ebay. They were selling Frnklin Mint cars as perfect when they weren't. They were buying low, hiding issues and selling as perfect - withthe caveat that a lady was selling for her husband who was in hospital with cancer. Apparently thought they could play on people's sympathy and no one would question them. And my buddy almost went along with that. Til we found the original listing from a couple weeks earlier. If you try flipping by buying on ebay and flipping it, it is too easy to find the original listing, esp on something with a serial number. Sorry you had a bad experience.
  7. Any time you have a "customer", if you do it long enough, you will get a bad one. I've had them. And will again I'm sure. But you do your best even with them and it will work out most of the time. I've had worse luck with teh FB Marketplace. Ebay works best for me - been using it since the 90s. But a lot of ppl use FB, so it works for them. Good luck either way you go. The kits you listed would go well here probably. IDK. Good luck with it.
  8. I do the same. Was afraid to admit for fear of incurring the wrath of others... LOL.
  9. I've been thinking of doing that exact thing myself. But I have one and not in your area. Hoepfully someone will want it. Have you tried the marketplaces on the social media sites? Although you get a LOT of folks that never show. Good luck getting rid of it.
  10. I'm intereted in this as well. For a friend. I don't do much foreign stuff, but I got a buddy looking for Ferraris constantly. Especially diecast. He has most of the Maisto and Bburago Ferraris.
  11. Seems like we have all bought stuff along the way that ends up being worth a fraction of what we paid. The worst would have to be folks that bought into the Franklin and Danbury Mint stuff. I couldn't afford them back when they were released, but am buying them now for pennies on the dollar. But I also have years of collecting and am trying to sell stuff off now. I have had to learn that if it's worth $5 to someone, that is $5 I didn't have yesterday. And through selling quantity, I was able to buy a new riding mower this year. And am still selling. Just have to let it go. I have run out of space literally. Can't display it all. Can't build it all. But I can sell a LOT of it and just take what I can get. I put a LOT of my stuff on ebay at BIN or best offer and just let it sit til someone buys. I have a really nice 93, 94? Mustang on there that has been there for months.. I have no idea why it won;t sell. Priced in line with everything else I have sold. You can't predict what will happen on ebay. those Signature models are tempting, BUT I really don't need ANOTHER scale collection.
  12. I like it better than the Judge. Very nice!
  13. Looked at that build. WOW! Incredible. No way I'll go that far, but a lot of insteresting things going on there. Thanks for the link.
  14. Thanks - going for a look. I knew the folks here would have an asnwer of some sort.
  15. Oh yeah the McLaren - forgot it - I have 2 - one finished. Also I think they were working on the "Best" NASCAR kit ever as well. I was into the NASCAR kits at the time. Whatever the reason, I hate they didn't make it. I have 4 GS vettes built.. All the AM versions. I did the Delmo Johnson car with VRM decals.
  16. Found this thread on a search. I'm doing a Fujimi Enthusiast Daytona Spider for a paying /trading friend - want to make it as nice and correct as poossible. I've found photos of everything I need on the topside, I think. Found a couple photos of the A frames showing a gold color, but no other underside photos. The Suspension photos showed a car with some years on it - was unable to tell if frame was painted originally. I've tried every google search I can think of. Shame the trunk doesn't open, with that cool toolkit. Need to find a materials to make that better than the paper one on the instructions. So far my questions are: what color is the frame? Black? What color is the bottom of the floor pan? Is it black or raw fiberglass? Some restoration photos I found look like floor pans are fiberglass on the top side (tan). Wondering what the underside is? I'll try to get some in progress photos next time I work on it and start a thread. Probably won't be as detailed as the build here. Have started blocking out the body to smooth out the dips and waves. Have glued up the crossmembers to frame so they'd have the best bond possible. Also adding lead sinker weight in hidden places to give the model some heft. Guy I'm building for does diecasts and I want this to at least feel like what he's used to. But look even better than the diecasts he's used to. Hoping to start some painting this weekend and would llike to have my colors planned out. Otherwise I may have to go blacks on underside just to be safe. Would rather be correct if that's not the correct coloring. Thanks
  17. Ugh, good luck figuring that out. Look on the net at real cars and hope someone here answers. you might post this in the drag section and see of someone has used this set already.
  18. You can ask whatever price you want on eBay. Doesn't mean you will get it. Sometimes folks will buy just on subject alone, whatever the price. These are not the people that buy my stuff. LOL. Or you can list it at that and see what happens. Worst case is it sits on your page for months. Best case, someone does buy it and you make good money on it. Not my place to judge why people spend what they do. Look at diecast "mint" listings if you wanna see prices all over the place. Same cars can go from $10 up to hundreds. Can depend on condition or can depend on seller not knowing and buyer not shopping around enough. I hate shysters as much as the next person, but sellers get way more BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH than they might should. I sell on ebay all the time and try to be a stand up guy. What can you do when someone complains the box isn't as good as they expected when the PHOTOS showed the box and the description says ithe box is wrecked? Or that the itme isn't "as good as I expected"? I can't control your expectations if I give you photos and a car (diecast) that has been in the box it's entire life. Those are a couple of my feedbacks. I price my stuff to move on out because I have a LOT of it and need it gone. It probably isn't "new", but also isn't priced like new either. Sorry, I got off on my own rant there. It won;t be long before a $75 kit looks like a pretty good price. I won't be buying them; I'm already at the limit of what I feel is the value for a model kit.
  19. There is an option to retract or request a retraction of a bid. I have dealt with this as a seller. can't remember if I have as a buyer. The buyer requested and I let it go. no big deal. I try to be as honest as I can, but I know there are some sellers that will stick it to you in a heartbeat. Always be sure to read the description as well as the heading. And study the photos carefully to see if it has everything you are looking for. If it doesn't seem complete, it usually isn't.
  20. Love the Cheetah. Would love a good plastic, no matter the box art. Would also love a good affordable Daytona Coupe. To go with my Grand Sports and Cobras. Loved that era of racing where builders were making wild race cars to compete with the factory exotics. We had a good GS and there were only 5 of the real cars. Or 6 depending on if you buy into that story. Of course that company also didn't make it so...
  21. On an SUV or CUV, the rear spoiler (like on the Cherokee mentioned), I think it is at least slightly useful. Keeps the rear window from getting quite so dirty from the aerodynamics at play. I think. I could be wrong. But all this stuff is fun to look at. Was at a classic car auction a few weeks back and there was a 56 Buick with the fake wide white overlays. I think it was a purposeful addition to give that 60's retro look. I was okay with it. And they were just on there - not really laying on the tire tight. Surprised no one has mentioned the 70 Charger door scoops yet. Fake door scoops to hide simulated door vents. The ultimate in fakery?
  22. Yup, still a good one to look at. I kinda wish I had one. I detailed one for a friend - I think that's where Geno's photos were posted origiinally.
  23. Egads, I have three diecast Camaros already - the 2 DM and a NAPA Crown Premium - all convertibles. Several plastics. I built the original Revell Yenko back in the day and several of the reissues. The Crown Premium is interesting - apparently they didn't want to chance missing a sale so they put the SS stripes and the hockey stripe on it. I didn't find one on the net with BOTH sets of stripes. And I can't decide which set to remove. Could remove them all and start over I guess. Sorry - getting off track. Anyway, glad to see the new Camaro.
  24. Those are nice replicas no doubt. But just not affordable to many. Me included. Would love to have one though. thanks for the review, which does look very much like an ad. Are you an ad copy writer by chance? Maybe you should be...
  25. Looking good! I found my Fujimi (?) Joe's gas station building this week. A "someday" project. Stuff like this is inspiring.
