So this thread is over two weeks old now, and I have yet to see it anywhere here...Hobby Lobbies, LHS`s, AC Moore, Michaels, department stores...all no luck. I have some thoughts on this kit, but would like to withhold them until I actually get my hands on one. Anyone in the PA/MD area seeing these anywhere?
-
Yep, I have one here somewhere. I`ll see if I can find it and snap a pic. I like the front end on this one much better than the `85 (the `82 has the "Camaro" lettering in the front center and the two fog lights on either side) , and it looks as though it will build up pretty convincingly for a Snap kit.

Fastest Street Legal Car In The World For Sale!
Hawk312 replied to W-409's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good points. We need to keep in mind too that the 209 mph on the timeslip is not it`s top speed, but it`s speed at the end of the quarter mile, in which it only takes just over six and a half seconds to get there! Guarantee even with it`s current gearing, give it another 4 or 5 seconds and it will be going much faster than 209 mph. Not to mention if he was willing to gear to match the Veyron`s quarter mile times, the top speed would be *well* over the Veyron`s. -
Not that anyone is actively looking for this kit (judging from the comments in this thread ), but are you guys seeing this kit on shelves? I have been to all the Hobby Lobby`s, Michaels, and a few other places close by and haven`t seen a single one yet. I saw they have a slot on the shelves labeled for it in Hobby Lobby, but the ones I`ve been to must be sold out before I get to them.

1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
Hawk312 replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not much to add that hasn`t already been said, except it is hard to believe we have a *completely* new tool from a subject that was already kitted twice before. Unless my eyes deceive me, even the wheels are new? Nice too see Revell put all that effort into getting it right. Can`t wait to get my hands on a few. -

I read an article on one of these cars years back. The owner was offered over a $million and turned it down! -
Fastest Street Legal Car In The World For Sale!

Sorry for the wait guys. I am still getting situated after being gone for a week. Here are the photos that I took back in 2011: -
I just got back from the Ocean City cruise weekend in Maryland. For those of you unfamiliar with it, over this weekend, thousands of cars from all over the east coast show up to cruise the coastal highway. There are cars on display and cruising for most of the 140+ blocks to the end of town. Most of these pics were taken about 120 blocks from the main inlet and car show. On Saturday night, all 4 lanes of the highway were stop and go all the way to the inlet. Just about everything you can think of shows up here....Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, Mopars, exotics, street rods, muscle cars... If you are lacking inspiration in your building, a weekend here will definitely give you plenty of ideas.

This guy usually stays here where I stay for the ocean city cruise weekend. This explains why I am not seeing it here this year. In person, this car just looks insane, and yes, it is LOUD. He does drive it up and down coastal highway, so it is streetable. I will see if I can find out who did the paint. Ill also try To upload some of the pics I have of it once I get home. The owner was telling me alot about the car and was really pleasant To talk To. -
That`s what I was thinking. Those wheels on the box just look.....weird. Unless it`s just the shape of the box, the angle of the wheels and some of the shading makes it looks like they might have been added after the fact. I meant to try to pick on of these up this week, but were already sold out locally when I went to check.

Revell 2012 Fall New Releases Announced
Hawk312 replied to TurboKitty's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
For those who were looking, I am seeing the Foose Firebird showing up on Ebay as "In Stock", and am also seeing it on some online hobby stores. -
Thanks again everyone! Thanks Ron. Do you plan to restore it? Let me know if you want t-top panels. I have no use for mine. I would give you my CE decals, but I don`t have them anymore.

A very small brush, and squinty eyes.

Thanks Harry. Yeah, I need to paint the hinge buttons. I also need to add the license plate, which I still have to make. The kit itself was an `82, hence the opening hatch. But I really didn`t like the clear hatch that came withe 78 on this car, so I went with the `82. Inaccurate I guess, but I think it looks better. The 1:1 car is an `81, which is why I didn`t use the crossfire engine. Here is the inspiration: http://www.vetteweb.com/features/vemp_1202_1981_corvette_coupes_alpha_and_omega/

Finished this one up today guys. This is supposed to represent the "Alpha" car, which was the first Corvette produced in the current Bowling Green Kentucky plant. So again, this was started with combining the 1/8 scale `78 and `82 Corvette kits. The wheels, engine, and interior are from the `78, the rest is from the `81. This was a weird build. Some of the details, like the super detailed starter and having separate "bands" for the fan belts, seem to be an attempt to make this a nicely detailed state-of-the-art kit. But then, the interior bucket included the seats, console, and door panels were all molded as one piece. Likewise, the intake manifold and carburetor was all one big blocky piece. I only added limited details on this one as the kit was very basic to begin with, and many of the parts were obviously out of scale. This kit builds up nicely, but it is nowhere near the complexity and accuracy of the big Camaro and `67 Corvette kits. I plan to make a mold of the wheels and use what is left of the `78 kit to build a pace car version. Let me know what you think!

Revell 2012 Fall New Releases Announced

Really waiting on that `68 Firebird to see what parts are included with it. -
You turned that paint job up to 11!!! Nice job!!
-
Just about finished the interior. It`s hard to believe a kit this big is so lacking in detail. The door panels, seat bottoms, and interior bucket are all one piece, and the door panel detail is very light. I really didn`t pick much out on them because the details are so shallow. The steering wheel is waaaayyyyy out of scale. Otherwise, the dash and console details aren`t to bad. I just need to add seat belts and then I am finished with the interior.

Thanks again guys! As soon as they make it available in a spray. Actually, I was debating trying a Rallye Green one, since that is available. It`s hard to believe they had so many metallic green shades available in that year. I was also debating doing a brown one, which would really be different.

`70 Chevelle Pro Street, 80`s style - another quickie
Hawk312 replied to Hawk312's topic in Model Cars
Thanks everyone! From memory, I think it was the Revell snap kit. The body was bright green, and it had silver stripes and custom wheels on the front. It was a very nice body, much better than the glue kit, IMO.
