  1. Could not be any better. Nice!
  2. Mind-boggling craftsmanship!
  3. Thanks Michael! This is the Revell kit with the black car on the box art, which I think actually represents a modern kit car. Since the frame was set up for a small block Ford, dropping the Olds in it was not a big deal. I do think I had to do a little surgery to go fender less but again, I don't recall it being anything major and I don't remember having to modify the firewall...But then there's a lot of things I don't remember! The thing I would change would be the headers which are sort of dorky looking but I didn't have anything chrome that was suitable.
  4. Thanks everybody for the comments! And yeah, Walter it's probably more show than go...I almost made it a fictional Mazmanian car. His stuff was always so sanitary, especially his 'vette and that's what I was going for here.
  5. This was meant to represent something from the '65-'67 era...I suppose it would have been an altered? Anyway, it was a pretty quick build (for me...takes me a week to glue the block halves together) where I didn't sweat the details or accuracy too much. It's the Revell kit with an injected Olds from the Revell Anglia kit, parts box wheels & tires, and 10-year cherry red Duplicolor from a rattle can.
  6. That really looks nice!
  7. Stunning, couldn't be better!
  8. How weird! I just had someone else tell me the Cragstones looked a lot like the wheels included in the Polar Lights '65 Coronet kit! In any case don't mean to hijack this post which should be focused on your outstanding builds...
  9. Nice, nailed the paint.
  10. Very cool, nice work.
  11. Wow!Love this!
  12. Stunning! Incredible fit and finish.
  13. Love these, especially the '65 AWB!...Hey, on that Drag-On Lady kit conversion where did you get the Cragar S/S wheels? I've got one of those kits and was horrified to find that the wheels included were not the Cragars that are in the '67 Charger kit and others...instead it has wheels that look like some bizarre cross between Cragar S/Ss with Keystone Kustomags (they have a Keystoneish flair at the end of the spokes) Totally useless...
  14. Thanks for the nice comments, very much appreciated! Glenn, here's a couple of engine shots...wasn't crazy about the kit engine so I cobbled this together from AMT and Revell parts and added a little detail.
  15. Thanks for the kind words!! Johann and Harry I gotta' agree, the india ink was a failed experiment! As for the horrible kit business, it had tons of flash, sketchy chrome, incorrect interior with the faintest of engraving, not to mention the promo chassis and rudimentary engine... However when you get the body right it does seem to overshadow the shortcomings. I wish I had a warehouse full of Jo-Hans... S. Mesner, the paint was Model Master Citrus Yellow (I know, looks pretty green to me too) which I think was discontinued? I painted this thing years ago.
  16. Horrible kit that, thanks to the legendary "rightness" of the Jo-Han body's proportions, builds in to good looking shelf model right out of the box.
  17. Since Legendary Dean Moon fielded cars in so many different types of motor sports, I thought it would be fun to build a "Moon-based" exhibition wheelstander. LRW kit with some mods and inkjet decals.
  18. Everything Vince vintagedragcrazy said about me (thanks Vince) goes for him as well...A pleasure to deal with. The same also applies to ToyLvr and Dr.Kerry. Good folks!
  19. Thanks everyone for the comments! The blower was sprayed with a grey primer, painted with a wash of flat white and brass, then dullcoated. I believe the Willys color was a Testor's Laquer, bronze or copper maybe? Anyway thanks, you've inspired me to get back to a couple of stalled projects!
  20. Trying to get back into building a little so I've been coming to MCM for inspiration. Lots of inspirational stuff! Thought I would post a couple of builds from last year. These are the old Hot Rod Magazine reissues of the SWC Willy's and the Orange Crate. Never had much success trying to build 'em in the 60's-70's so I thought I would give 'em a go as an Old Fart. A little fussy and the tools are a little beat but I think they build into really nice models. The "Chopped Deuce" is basically out of the box with a wheel/tire change and the Willy's has a little added detail along with losing the distinctive SWC grille treatment. Inkjet decals.
  21. Sorry, guess I suck worse than I thought...
  22. Mr. Jones, that '33 is bleepin' unbelievable!!! Does the model still exist? If so it should definitely be in the model car museum in Salt Lake...What a great piece of modeling history. The H.O. is pretty cool too.
  23. Wow, that thing is looking nasty already and the graphic work is amazing...
