MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. I'm going to come down on the side of it being a full size pickup that had the bed swapped with one from a much smaller pickup. Either way it looks odd.
  2. Likewise: 1966 Chaparral 2E 1969 Ferrari 312P coupe 1970/71 Porsche 917 LH (three-Hippy, Martini, & Gulf) 1971 Ferrari 512M 1955 Jaguar D-type long nose (actually Dragon Model) 1968 Mclaren 6B Penske And when I think of the times I had the Cunningham C5R and the Chaparral 2F in the cart and didn't pull the trigger.....
  3. 1960 Sedan de Ville, white over light blue, driven by a late '20s couple. Also an early '80s Alfa Romeo Spider in a light chartreuse yellow. Both, always-always-always going in the opposite direction. (Now there's a car maker under served by the modeling industry)
  4. I'd be REAL suspicious of the way those tie-downs are applied. I'd never think of using the ramp as a securing point. And is the front end tied down at all?
  5. Two (count them-2) 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 convertibles. One pristine and straight, black top over a dark, dark maroon on US 101 north of Cloverdale, CA. The other was at a Costco and would have been at home in a trailer park outside of any major or minor city. Front clip, hood, both doors, and rear end each a different color. The grill had a 2-3 in gap from the r/front fender. Didn't note any interior door panels. However I saw it drive away and the engine sounded smooth and cared for. Priorities, I guess. Also a classic early 60s Mini that sounded a bit "rorty".
  6. 1963 or 64 Chevy Corvair convertible in Silver Blue Poly in very nice shape in a residential neighborhood in Santa Rosa, CA. Haven't seen any Corvairs in a very long time.
  7. "Twisted Metal" game is the first time my kids found out that I was fallible. Two player mode on a 24" tv screen caused so much movement in such a confined space that I got a 1/2 day bout of motion sickness. ("Damn my eyes") They found there was something they could beat up on Dad with and life was never the same.
  8. I'm going against the stream here but I am (the) one who can't see the appeal of Eleanor Mustangs. Old or new versions its an overdone clown car that leaves me cold. I'd sooner have R2 spend their money on a new mold Cobras of various versions, an early '70s Plymouth Road Runner, classic race cars like the various Chaparral's/Lola T-70's, or classic Ferraris (275GTB/365GTB/or a 250 SWB). Yes, I know I'm out in the hinterlands but its MY hinterlands.
  9. Along with tires speed-rated at far below that number. 😲
  10. Isn't this a Miata with a strong Ferrari fixation?
  11. That's great. I just found it on my Firestick selections. Now to figure out how to go back and find it again.
  12. Being that its LA, I wonder if it might have been one of the movie cars. I seem to recall they made 6 different cars for the filming and I know there is an original one is at the Petersen Museum. Heck, I once worked traffic control at a movie ("Pontiac Moon") where there were two 1951 Pontiac Chieftains-brush painted in tan(!) and two Amphicars when I'd never seen more than one at any one time.
  13. There are a number of colleges offering degrees in auto restoration. I found a year old article about just that subject. https://classiccarjobs.us/2024/05/29/top-colleges-and-programs-for-classic-car-restoration/
  14. Found these in my own neighborhood. The owner is a young guy (late 20's-very early 30's) who works remotely for a tech company in Silicon Valley. The red car is a Challenger Hellcat and the Corvette is track dedicated. No, he's not married either.
  15. Not a Mopar guy but it looks like a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda to me.
