thanks alot but im all set (eccept for the "426 hemi" badges) im pretty sure i have a revell T/A hood laying around aswell and it wouldnt fit but i was very set on using this perticular hood because it matches the concept but once again, thanks for offering

those will work AWESOME do you happen to tires with them? (i dont think my parts box has them that size so here is my day one progress i have done a tiny bit of work to the body, i put the firewall on, primered the vinyl top for sanding and removed the "challenger" badges from the front fenders (they looked awesome but wont work with the T/A striping i also worked over the motor mounts to shoehorn the 426 in. the seats were scavenged from my F&F eclipse and i had ready painted

sounds good, i'm looking for these: the seem to be the closest to what is on the concept and pretty acurate for the era im building. i also have a massive brain movement today, i decided that since i am building my 68 charger with the 440 anyway i can take the entire drivetrain out of the challengers kit and put it in the charger. this will free up the tranny i need to mount the 426 hemi in the challenger so between that and your decals all that is left are the rims and little "hemi 426" badges

hey guys, im going to keep track of progress on my 1970 challenger here. the kit is the johny lightning challenger R/T (thanks be to those who helped me pick it) the premise of the kit is simple, a few years ago i bought my father in law a die cast model of the (then) concept challenger the car im building him for Christmass this year will be the "inspiration" for that particular concept car. this will be an interesting build for me because i will be using many (to me) new techniques such as flocking and wiring the distributor. i havent really gotten started on the kit yet but a few of the costum peices are done (or close to) the seats came out of the F&F eclipse and the 426 hemi was part of the 69 charger kit as you can tell i still need to ad the dizzy to the hemi. right now my 4 biggest problems are these: * getting the vinyl top from the kit smoothed out to look like its regulat steel * finding the same decals as the concept has * finding a tranny to mate to the 426 * finding rims that look enough like the concept rim to have inspired them but still be acurate aftermarket for the era of the car. i will be posting progress as i move along (hoping to have it done before Christmass) if you have any suggestions or might know an anwser to the problems/needs i still have for this build please feel free to post here

wish i could be of any help but all i can say is wow, that looks dead on like a fiberglass bumper on a poorply pimped out eclipse, i mean, it looks like the way cheap fiberglass crackes under strain very intresting

how do i change a vinyl top to steel ?
diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
i was afraid you might say that so i guess spraying on one or two coats of sandable primer and then just having at it with some sand paper will do. any suggestions on what grid to use ? -
hey guys, im working on a project here and i am building a 1970 challenger R/T. it is the AMT kit which can be build as both a top down convertable and a hard top my problem is, the hardtop is molded to look like vinyl, i need it to be smooth as the rest of the body what is the best way too achieve this ? thanks guys, you're always a great deal of help

it doesnt fit the european view of an american car pickups are gassguzlers, they need nothing short of a 350

allrighty , i get it my trolling motor is direct drive
-
if you really want an awesome diesel engine try to scoop up a VW V10 TDI nice project though, i like the way you're aproaching it from a different angle , i would have never thought to make it into a selfcombuster
-
looks great love the way the wood looks now, i know i know nothing about boats (i run a 20 LBS troller in mine) but, shouldnt the tranny be facing towards the back end of the boat ?
-
depending on how old you want this car to look (and how wel taken car of by the owner) you just might consider leaving the engine that way, looks pretty authentic to me for a 30 year old
-
looking forward too it worst case scenario you could level the numbers on the gauges and print some of try and glue them on or if you have the paper, make your own decals
-
let me start by saying that all the information i am going to give is hear say i looked into buying some decal paper a few weeks ago and this is what they told me: first of, what printer do you have ? the people i talked to didnt seem to have a preference but there are specific types of decal papers that are made for each printer and if you mix them up your ink will just wipe off. as mentioned before decal paper comes in both clear and white. since most home use printers do not print white the white paper has its advantage in that aspect while the clear paper is more forgiving in the cutting area. finally, i do believe a picture taking in any format (as long as it is on the computer) can be tampered with (resized or enhanced) with paint, picture manager or photosoup. just make sure you print one off on regular paper first so you can check your size and what not.

thats an awesome looking little project looks like it gonna be quite the little go getter onces its done i would suggest spinning that passengerside rear tire though, looks like a directional tire but its mounted the wrong way

lets not over generalise now jurgen, i remember as a boy going to what was called "plaggencross" where people would race very freely modified cars over a cornfield that had been harvested but not yet plowed so the stumps were all still in the ground if i remember correctly it was a free for all anything goes race one particular crowdpleasure i remember well was a belgium team that entered a citroen CV with 2 suzuki hayabusi engines (one powering each rear wheel) that thing would FLY nice looking ford BTW

awesome choice i totally love the DTM astra (and ont just because the astra is the antecessor of the E kadett which was one of my first cars) i've looked at this kit online several times and it looks like a great kit tamiya is a very reputable producer so m sure its a high quality kit they also claim its the only production kit with working gullwing doors (of course my deathracer has a working gullwing door but thats not production) im looking forward to seeing how this plays out what are your plans for paint ? i know this kit in available in 2 or 3 different stables so did you choice the holzer on purpose or will this be a (semi)custom paintjob ?
-
looks like you're of to a good start if i had to choose between a italian car or a german i would have gone with the kraut aswell, good choice nice job on the flocking, looks very real are you sure that is pearl white though ?
-
i get it we have sereval police cars in that format around here i absolutely dislike them, you cant tell they are cops untill its too late
-
i too would put revell over AMT i would even put revell over revell (revell germany being the first one) there are a few other manufacturers out there too but i dnt think i have enough expierience with either one of them to make a well informed opinion on them

i think from all that came out of this we can say that A) you did the right thing there have got to be a ton more of these feel good stories like Scot H shared maybe we should focus on point B -
just glad to see it is normal, and not something i done wrong it is too late for me to cut the springs, i already gleud them to the chassis and painted them. but i migt come up with something , who knows
-
i just mocked up a few of the rims to the chassis, does it look like it is not level ? i mean, is it suposed to look like that ? the front end seems to sit lower then the back ?
