thanks the only decals on it are the license plate and the hood the way i did the sides was by first painting a coat of silver then i taped that of and shot the yellow then i taped that of and uncovered most of the silver i taped some left over screen door over the silver and then shot the blue over/through that for the hood i basically did the same but before i shot the blue i applied the decal the decal is indeed homemade i took a picture of Mrs. diymirage and scanned it then i changed the colours to black and white and printed it on decal paper it didnt come out perfect but for my first try on making my own decals im pretty pleased with it once the decal was on i taped over the center of it (just to be safe) and shot the fading blue through the screen again (the WIP is right here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27218 ) as for those of you who said this inst your cup of tea, i totally agree but i really wanted to do the decal and i didnt think it would look good on any other style car so i figured i would venture outide of my comfort zone and just build it as a lowrider now that everything is said and done i must say ive gotten a chance to hone some skills and do some scratchbuilding/modifying that went well beyond my usual involvement in a kit so it was educational and fun

diymirage replied to Bridgebuster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i did the exact opposite my badger 150 was a daul action and my paasche is a single stage the main reason i went with the single stage is because it is easyer to clean to be honoust, i dont miss the daul action -

i have a paasche and i LOVE the ease of cleaning it all you do is take the front end off i had a badger 150 before that and it took a lot more effort to keep that one running (heres a pic of the paasche) im pretty sure the paasche has the same connector as the one i had in between it and the badger i dropped out of the hobby for a few years so i got rid of the badger then when i was ready to get a new airbrush i stopped in at menards and bought their store brand gravity feed plastic aribrush (i think it ran me less then 20 dollars) and that was a great "starter" brush -
the way they do it with ships is put a hinge in the mast so that they lay flat this will allow the ship to pass through the bottleneck then when the ship is in there you pull the string and the masts will sit up straight

gto doors in stripped mode.
diymirage replied to Blake Rogers's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
what i would imagine you want to do is first cut up the interior tub so that the door panels are gone then all you have to do is recreate the inner door panel out of sheet styrene (here is a corvair panel) http://pivonka.natcafamily.org/Images/CorvairWeb/012Inner%20Door%20Panel%20(3).JPG if it were my car i would cut a sheet of styrene and draw a cross in it from top right to bottom left and vice cersa and then just cut the 4 triangles out while leaving the cross and outside frame maybe 3/16th of an inch thick its really just a mather of getting good reference material and having at it -
true that just bought the wifey a 08 charger as a winterbeater and as soon as she starts making money were buying me a 74 roadrunner

also keep in mind that you want to make the fabric look ripped what i like to do is paint the seat and then put a napkin over it then i paint the napkin and ford it back when the seat is ripped once that dries i get my nasty orange paint out and paint the foam showing under the rip
