Raised white letter tires
diymirage replied to crazyjim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
it is my understanding the best way to do this is to submerge both the decal and the tire in lukewarm water and then slide the tire under the decal while you pull the paper out from in between at least, thats the way i do redline/whitewall decals -

Getting back into the hobby..
diymirage replied to tuffone20's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
well, if you really are having doubt why not pack it all up and send it to a fellow modeler who is still fully engaged and short on cash....maybe a father of one and sole provider for a family of three ? why dont i shoot you a PM with my address so you can sent some kits my way ? (anything mopar and specifically prostreet would be awesome) -
just a quick lookie of where im at
-
you know i never thunk of that ill check that later for now, here is a mock up of the 34 and one with the engine sitting better
-
thats a nice chop you got there when i cut the top of and looked at all the trim i chickened out and used a lighter to bend the front window pillars out to match the rest it is drying right now and then its time for primer and putty i also managed to get both axles from the 32 to fit the 34 frame so i should have some mockup picture later on tonight
-
thats what i need, another build off on the table lol ill see if i got something im not buying any other kit untill i finish at least one from my stash not start FINISH clearly if the wifey saw me modeling she wouldnt complain about me finishing to fast
-
actually the zona is on my "when the wifey starts making money" list but that list ranges from new tupperware to a toasterover to underground sprinkling to a 74 GTXs 440 so the way i went about it last time (page one) is as follows: i marked it of with marking tape and then cut it with a tiny cutting disc on my dremel, making sure i left it a little bit larger then i intended then i grabbed a piece of wood with a fresh sheet or 220 grit sandpaper attached to it and i started sanding both sides (top and bottom) applying presure to the high point untill the two peices fit together nicely that is the way i intend to do this one aswell with one small change i will cut the roof and add a tiny strip of styrene so that the pilars will line up without tweaking
-
i have seen a few people on here who use medical tape or just the ends of bandaids to replicate the padding
-
well, its back to the drawing board after getting some very generous offers for a fire wall to make this look like a 34 (thanks tony) i was made an offer i couldnt refuse...ken send me this in the mail a complete 34 ford minus the engine with all the correct firewall parts so this will be my first true kitbash i will be using the framerails sheetmetal glass and interior from the 34 and all the suspension and drivetrain parts from the 32 once i am done with the JWAC challenge the remainder of the parts will be a rear fendered hotrod with a ford zetec under the hood i might lower it and call it the weedwacker now, where did i leave that hacksaw ?
-
look like yer off to a good start there tom looking at that drawing there is no way that the stock engine needs 3 seperate air intakes so you better slap that porsche mill in there
-
the body of the truck seems to have a division that is perfect for a no-nonsence straight line two tone paintjob i would paint the top half of the cab, hood and bed gold and the roof and everything bellow the beltline red maybe even use a black pinstrip in between? use the stock steelies painted red iether without dishes or with gold dishes similar to what i did on this ford (the lines of the rear fender are close to those on your truck in case your not seeing the division the way i see it)
-
it is what we call a "mock up" and though it is not fool proof it is a good way to see if everything fit properly think about it, would you rather have to sand down a part that has been clear, painted and primered just because it didnt fit right or would you rather find out before you clear, paint primer and glue everything down ? then there is also the "stance" to consider...there are times that you want to play with the suspension to get the rake right. not to mention the addition of aftermarket parts, spoilers, hoodscoops and what have you. and finally (and this might just be me personally) but it helps to see the "finished" product before it is finished to...well...finish it
-
350? we dont need no 350 were the federali...i mean...were the dodge boys
-
wow im perspexed i mean perplexed reminds me of an engine we had in highschool it had a glass cylinder on it so that when you turned a screw on the carb to change the air fuel ratio you could see the colour of the combustion change with it
-
fine ill slap it in my 32 ford seems i wont need it anymore since Ken graciously donated a correct AMT 34 highboy that will need a chop and will be ready to go thanks Ken
-
love the ralleys on it they seem great for a truck seems to me that red always looks good on trucks but then again...what are you making ? sleeper? red will be good for a sleeper but if this will be a show truck then red will be too run of the mill
-
hey paul, welcome aboard your of to a nice start on that one let me know if you need a set of narrow tires i have 2 that came with the pro street super bee that i wont be using
-
i got just the thing ford zetec out of a focus
-
she'd never do that the reason she only wants one model on display is because she doesnt like clutter i got a ton of em scattered around the basement on display all of which she cleans by the way
-
normally i would say iether slap a hemi in there, use a hemi, or if you want a really classic look get a firedome desoto...hemi but with this car i hate to admit it, but i would say, caddy mill...it seems aproriate for jairus' work
-
this may be a farcry but i have a rollcage from a firebird that just might do the trick ill test fit it in the suberbee (since my charger doesnt have a interior tub)
-
