if i were to put money on the wall...
diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
along the same lines, there was a guy who lived a few vilages over from me and where he lived there were some pretty strickt rules on what you could and couldnt do with your lawn as far as making it look like a salvage yard so he had this car sitting in his front yard that was slowly rotting away well, his neighbours called the cops and they told him he had X amount of days to get rid of it or he would get a fine for making the city look like ###### so he poured a big concrete pad in his yard about a foot high and he and some bodies lifted the car up on the pedistal and when the cops came back later he told them "what car? that one? thats not a car, its a lawn sculpture" -
ive been slowly getting my 12 year old nephew into the hobby so far he has build a snap kit corvette, a snap kit camaro, a 1/35 snap kit saleen and a "easy builder cop out duster which is by no means an easy builder at the moment he has a firebird (revell stage 2 kit) on the bench and i bought us a pair of matching 71 pro street superbees for when that one is done (not only do i want him to like building models, im also trying to ease his preference to mopars)

Job Announcement
diymirage replied to HobbicoHR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
thats a whole year more then what i have yeah, they must want someone in thier twenties like....the only reason i know dodge ever made a 1968 charger is because revell made a model of it i wonder if age might not be a plus when it comes to a company that replicates cars from the glory days before catalytic converters and my conception -
got a little bit more work done to the pontiac today the main thing i did was finish the vinyl roof this was my first time installing a vinyl roof (though i have changed a few of them into hardtops) i used paper tape to achieve the texture i also wired and mocked up the engine i got rid of the powerfull pontiac race engine for the 302 cross barrel chevy i even went as far as move the distributor to the front of the engine where it belongs ( why in the world chevy put it in the back i'll never know but i fixed it for them and now it fits in the engine bay)

How to recondition old decals
diymirage replied to Car Crazy 81's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
charles nailed it altough i use testors decal setter which is basically just a clear doat aswell -
i think the scoops are a bad idea and i will tell you why look at the angle of the roof...it comes down at what 35 degrees ? now look at the angle of the scoops you want to put on, they are almost 90 it just doesnt flow im not against puttin scoops on per se BUT i am definatly against putting THOSE scoops on because they dont flow zuki mentioned the scoops on mustangs, they looked good because they are part of the design and they look like they belong there i bet if you get a set of those they would look much better on this car thanks for the compliments on the GTX i actually only bought the kit because it was on sale for 5 bucks at micheals and then i just fell in love with it i have another one in my stash i have been looking for a 73-74 GTX or roadrunner latetly as my daily driver only a few more months and the wifey will start making money and a musclecar will be my first big expense i'll take any one of those engines as a trade for the wheels i got them packed up and ill have the wifey drop em of at the postoffice later what wheels came with the kit, just the stock ralleys ? if it came with some nice aftermarkets i wouldnt mind that but i have so many of the ralleys just look at my ford F-100 the truck, trailer and all 4 spares are on mopar ralleys
-
that came out really nice to bad it is so far done, otherwise you could have traded me for a stock engine and make it look real
-
toss it in a freezer bag and let it sit next to the popsicles for a day or two the glue should go brittle and let off
-
cant go wrong with that car and especially the hemi your off to a nice start

diymirage replied to Hot_Rod_Bob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i can not stand AM type talk shows dont get me wrong..i love listening to people on the radio BUT only when they have something to say so at my job i listen to a lot of preachers on the moody station -
i love that car 74 right ? as soon as the wifey starts making moneys that is the one that i will get seen on on the bay just last weekend with a 440+6 in it yummie but i digest what wheels are you looking for...the stock steelies ? i should have a set from the 68 charger...might be the same ? also, are you planning on painting the headlight bezels white ? not my most favorite part on the car to be honoust here is one i build from the AMT 74 GTX kit

What kind of music.....
diymirage replied to Hot_Rod_Bob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i mostly have the telly on aswell when i build as far as music taste goes though, i listen almost exclusively to Christian metal bands like tourniquet, saviour machine, deliverance, bride, holy soldier, stryper, theocracy and the likes of course when the wifey is around thats less apreciated -
one tip i could give you is marking your panel lines with tape and plenty of it so that IF your knife slips you scratch the tape and not the body
-
very nice i have something similar under the bench mine is also VW powered RWD pickup i am using a VW golf GTI plant with a custom build turbo mated to the RWD from a supra i turned the stock body into a a pickup cab and extended the backseat/trunk into a bed all that on a custom build ladder frame
-
true that i think the last kits i have bought are 71 superbee 71 superbee 71 charger 74 GTX and last week i used my 40% coupon for a twin turbo 69 camaro
-
come to think of it, the roll bar drawn on the boxart looks just like the one in my 74 GTX
-
they look home made without the flanges
-
are those the kits headers or are they home made ?
-
and that coming from a guy who is to cheap to buy a prewired distributor

diymirage replied to Jared Roach's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
it was licensed as a moped they took the head because it was a high compression unit dont ask why they took the front sprocket i ran into the cop who was the first on the scene about a year after the fact she said that when she first saw me she thought i was dead i guess it paid of to wear a helmet -
sweet s10 WRECKED!!!
diymirage replied to Jared Roach's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
since we're showing pictures of wrecks, here is some of my handywork 2003 huyndai tiburon happened two winters ago , i hit a patch of back ice and slid head on into a VW golf 1999 mercury cougar a year before the tibby turned out you cant go 3 wide down 16th street and this an oldy, bout 8 years or so i was on my way to work and hit a VW transporter (eurovan) at about 55 miles per hour he was crossing the road and failed to yield for me took me two days to wake up from that one broke my skull in 3 places and snapped my femur in half for the mechanical savvy people among us, try to spot all the ilegal go fast parts the cops removed after they impounded my bike -
not only would i be honoured to have one of my models featured on your site....i'll even do you one better...send me as many kits as you want i will build them for you free of charge
