got the headlight done today i remember a while ago someone posted a trick in the tips and tricks section on some little rhinestone sticker like objects he found at micheals which made great sidemarkers for the 69 chargers well, i found the ones and bought a sheet of clear ones to simulate projecter style headlights here is the result i havent fully decided if im going to leave the headlights as they are or if i am going to put a clear lens over it to sit flush with the rest of the nose what do you guys think ?

Restore or "Restify?"
diymirage replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
like i said in the other post if you are building a novelty item use a dispensable car dont go fubaring an icon thats what hondas are for -
it is all those orange ones jumping creeks that made these cars almost non exitent and to then take such an iconic car and turn it into a novelty item tsk tsk tsk next time use a honda or some other dispensable econobox

sounds painfull about 10 years ago i crashed a dirtbike into a van and snapped my femur in half took me 6 months just to learn how to properly walk again i cant imagine how tough this is stupid question, did they get you a prostetic or put some weight in your shoes to make up for the lost toes? because the big toe is important for balance isnt it ?

Help with Goodyear tire decals for the Mongoose
diymirage replied to jlucky's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
ive heard of people getting good result by cutting out the decal and putting it in a bowl of water (nice and deep) and when the decal lets go of the backing paper you get the tire and put it underneath the decal and then light both og them out of the water as one -
i think i got a junker one laying around just say the word man

how bout one half of a VW bug engine ? you know the aircooled version sure, it would be a little underpowered but its just scale
-
i personally dont paint parts on the tree because when i take them off of the tree it would leave little marks that need to be touched up if i paint the seperate parts one by one or as a whole depends on what it is if i build an engine to look like a factory engine i have no problem putting it togehter and then painting it but if i want it to look like a race engine i paint the parts seperate so i dont have to try not to get paint on the block when im painting the heads and vice versa the body parts i generally tape together on the inside and then paint them as a whole, this way i get a uniform coat on all of it most of this stuff though is a matter of trying different ways and sticking with what works best for you

i did but all i seen was two cars and a buncha text maybe there was a link in there i missed ?

Whats the best filler or putty for a model
diymirage replied to Car Crazy 81's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
i use bondo glazing putty in a tube, the red stuff that dries in about 30 minutes i think i pay about 5-7 bucks per tube the only two issues ive found with this is that if you put it on to thick it will crack (which a thinner second coat wil hide) and it suck in the paint so it can be a hair tricky getting it sealed in nicely so that you can lay an even top coat -

diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
depending on your driving skills and how much HP your used to you just might put it THROUGH your wall -
looking great except for one thing the engine looks like an engine should look after some years but the carpet looks brand new

once i clear of the workbench i will start a comunity build project for winged warriors any car would be allowed as long as it was a period correct mopar and you put the wing on it only two exceptions...seeing how the charger and challenger were period correct and the newer models are based on those i would allow recent charger and challenger ASLONG as they have the wing

the red car in the MCM logo
diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
so if i were to think of a car with an exhaust cut out where when the cut out is open it follows the stock exhaust to the rear tailpipes but with the cut out open it exits on the side ? now, that seems to make sense...even though i would STILL use iehter or, stock exhaust OR side pipes hey dont forget those spoilers are important that is the last thing to go through the drivers mind when he hits a tree at 25 MPH -
i love those big wings if i ever get me my 74 roadrunner thats going on there

the red car in the MCM logo
diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
sounds an awefull lot like a brake system to me...all it does is ad weight and slow you down seems silly to me but OK -
ok, look up on the top of the page, left hand side there is a model car magazine logo there with a red car by it now, is it just me or does that car have twin dual exhausts AND sidepipes ? thats like, six pipes for one car ? someone enlighten me

thanks for the kind works i kinda figured, since the nascars arent truely stock anyway this isnt that far fetched right ? it is coming along nicely though i think the last big project last on this build is the headlights once those are done it should be smooth sailing smooth sailing ? huh arent those famous last words ?
