  1. Your 100% right Ben, let's be honest, it, it is pure greed, plain & simple.......if it costs less to produce in China, ( which it does, in fact ; then why isn't the saving being passed onto us, the consumer? the reason....because there are guys willing to be victims to this ridiculous price gouging, I for one refuse to support having my pockets picked. There are those that will say, at least the company is offering the stuff, & we should be grateful .... uh.....good luck with that. There is only so much I am willing to pay for tires; $10; $12 TOPS. .... even if they put them in a "Special Edition", "Limited Number" tins; with a poster - I'll pass .... .
  2. Funny, I thought the whole idea of sending all the manufacturing to China, was in order to produce products for less than they were being done in the USA .... something sure seems slightly odd about this arrangment. When can we expect the savings to be passed on to us ?
  3. I'll trade you my neighbors house, SUV, daughter & 2 dogs
  4. Very clean job - nice color combo, I've seen way too many of these kits get hacked, with no consideration of style - it's a pleasure to see a stock one done up right - thanks Andy
  5. I agree with Aaron, cotton would be a better choice, the cellophane, foil & lights method that he mentions would also be a great way to go, I'd use a small fan; such as a computer fan to get movement. And yet another option for a display model, solid smoke ..... spray insulation expandable foam. As far as the lighting goes, see previous above post - Evans Lighting Fire Kit..... it's worth the couple of bucks.... you can't fully appreciate it; until you actually see it working.
  6. Wow Harry !! - if Aurora would have used your model on the box top, they would have sold a ton of these !! - I love the color combo & everything done here - I've seen the kit .... youv'e done it a great, great justice. Bravo.
  7. Vaccuformed pill packaging works like a charm for porthole windows on van, truck & trike models - like I've used here, on my "Trike-a-delic" ..... if you look at all the different sized vaccuform packaging, ( and shapes ) - you'll see many uses, headlight covers, etc.
  8. Great job, very clean - thanks
  9. You are wise Yuri - this is the only way to go - very nice model, the redlines look fantastic on her - thanks for sharing
  10. Great job Steve & the color is perfect - thanks
  11. Looks great Chris, the paint turned out nice - clean build
  12. Great project
  13. Great Job on this - congrats !!!
  14. Really, really nice - by the way Harry, how many of the classics do you have on your shelves ? .... any pics ?
  15. Not to highjack the thread, but instead of rehashing this subject, as some have said, how about we put a new spin on it & post pics of old model contests, models built when we were younger & perhaps some vintage model ads. THAT may be cool.
  16. Great job on this Ron, I've been building 1/8 figures a long time & really enjoy them - thanks for sharing this
  17. Looks really nice to me, I like your paint work, inside and out & the engine wiring goes with the glass tint - keep up the good work Bill !!!
  18. I would look around town & see if there's a body shop that would let you spray in their booth when it's not used.
  19. Besides this whole model car fiasco, I've always found it wild beyond imagination ( and reason ) , that it would have been possible for one person such as him, to accomplish alone, the tasks & talent needed to pull off a hot rod like this. I know of no one who would have been able to plan & execute something of this caliber, gathering the funds needed to do this, at age 17 mind you, is an amazing feat in itself. Then, think of having the knowledge to complete each component, the Buick nailhead, the frame work, wiring, driveline, scratchbuilt body, and then of course, to put it all together, make it work & show worthy.. I know there will always be talented people out there, but I really find it hard to believe that only one person could pull this off, it's very odd that he's never mentioned, or given credit to anyone else. He's said that he grew up broke, so how does a 17 year old in the 1960's build such a car ? ......... AND ........ you'd think that after buiding the UT, he would have gone and built a few more cars; instead of dropping out of the custom car scene, dropping off the planet & then showing up decades later; to try & pick up where he left off. .It's all really strange & truly pathetic..
  20. Hats & shirts might not have worked for him, but I'm sure a straight jacket would.
  21. Evan's Train lighting, has this is the Fire kit - perfect for what you need, I have a few of them - it does look real just type Evans train lighting , or model train software in google - my lousy computer won't let me paste the link
  22. There's only one thing to make a guy feel better after a crappy interview, go get stuff at the Hobby shop; I know it would cheer me up.
  23. Parts are gold !! - I have a buddy who knows what part is from what kit, I can figure out some; but he is an expert - when I get stuck; I seek his help.- I wish I had a brain like his !!!
  24. I've had enough of him & this ridiculious, pathetic, ongoing soap opera revolving around this car, ya, it was neat a long, long time ago, now, it's enough - obviously he's just trying to recapture his 15 minutes of past glory & keep from being obsolete & face further financial ruin, using the one & only hotrod he ever built a long time ago as bait. One thing that is certain, he's dillusional. ......I really don't find it that terrific anymore -good luck to those that lay out $$$ for "Pre-orders" ............ I'll pass.He doesn't even own the car anymore & the guy who does, wants nothing to do with him; I'm pretty sure there's a good reason.
