40 Ford hinge help please !
Krazy Rick replied to Krazy Rick's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks much for the help guys, I'll choose one of these methods & get her done .... all three ideas make more sense than what I was fiddling with -
Great job so far, I really like the trailer as well. I'm going to be going with a 60 Chev truck, my buddy suggested to narrow the cabinets a bit to make it more spacious & less cluttered & I think I will be doing so; the washroom seems to really take up alot of floor space.

Thanks Bill, your a good guy !!! -
I'm doing a mild custom 40 Ford sedan delivery, I'd like to hinge the hood to flip forward, I have a couple ideas; but I'd appreciate any more input from those who may have tackled this already. Pics prefered, if possible ..... it seems a little more tricky than the average hinge; because of the pointed front area - thanks guys.

I 'm starting a rebellion here in Canada.... I'm doing away with the current monetary policy and replacing it with the good old barter system....... if any of you are interested, I have 3 chickens, a nice hand knit blanket & a quart of maple syrup I'm willing to trade for the new Man From Uncle kit.... -

Seeking new modellers ?
Krazy Rick replied to Krazy Rick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree, I think society is worshipping technology & is going too far. When I drive down the street & see 98% of the people with their little phone gadget attached to their face; soaking in radiofrequency energy - I can't help but think it's a bad Star Trek episode.... I'm not sure what the attraction / obsession is; I've done fine so far without. In the future, if all positions are filled by robots; humans will turn into useless lumps; but I'll try and think positive & keep enjoying this great hobby !! -
It looks like a psychco camouflage pattern, the "rust" looks like brown paint..... rust is various shades & tones, not just one. Placement, I think the logical way is to focus more on just the areas that would receive rust, if it were a real car; rust normally is more concentrated on areas which are flat, because the water / moisture tends to be there, and then travels via gravity to vertical spots & continues.Think of why the rust has formed & that should tell you where. Are you trying for surface rust, rust damage, or a combination ? Consider making your own real rust, get a little jar / container with a lid, put a hunk of steel wool in it & add water, leave a few days until the rust forms & you'll have real rust to paint with, to use along with paint. Grab a bunch of pics from google, print them off & have them handy in front of you as reference; there's plenty of them on there. Good luck

Seeking new modellers ?

Perhaps flinging feces at each other like little monkeys ........ may not be the best path to take, in order to continue with this topic in a positive; helpful way. We have some really great ideas presented so far; let's try to go in that direction & see where it takes us. -

Man, you make some really great points Austin, there are a few good modellers that will get what your saying...despite the herd of close minded / self centered cavemen. Just because my interests may differ from what you are into, it sure won't stop me from appreciating the models & cars you & your generation work on. Your honest opinions & view are solid and true - only "knuckle heads" will be threatened by your reasoning. You have the passion & express yourself well. -
Seeking new modellers ?

This is why I brought up this subject in the first place, I may be a dreamer, but I believe there is hope of bringing the hobby "up to speed" & perhaps merging the two markets, I'm sure someone with alot more know-how than myself could come up with an angle that would appeal to the younger generation. Let's hope your son continues building; and if not .... at least you lit the flame. -

Alrighty then ...... um...... next subject -
I was wondering if it has occured to any of the model companies, that perhaps trying to reach out to the younger generation via multi-media may yield new customers. Is there an active program in place to try a new/fresh & different angle of marketing ? Maybe including something in kits, doing ads on TV, Facebook, Youtube, etc. I can't help but think that there has been a huge chance missed here. All we continue to say & hear is, that WE are the last of the modellers & that electronics have taken over; instead of accepting this; why not merge the two in order to keep the flame alive & bring the hobby to the next level....... Justin Beiber's Ferrari, etc; may be something that would make "US" sick, but if that type of thing sells; it would help the hobby overall, and that would a good thing.
