  1. the wheels look fine, it gives them more of an attitude
  2. I just call them disgusting greedy sick pigs - they have no soul
  3. Mark, let's try to think about resolving this issue for once and for all, and perhaps allow you to be at peace with what occured at that time, which you continue to rehash; it must bother you a great deal & perhaps by looking at it in a logical fashion; may help you to move ahead & not look back. If we reopen this, as a cold case file, we should look at a short period of time ( 30 days ) before this occured, now we should try and remember who was a visitor, including all, strangers, neighbours, repair men, etc. - write those names down, as "people of interest" . Now, try to remember, out of that list of people, who were NOT familiar with models / promos. Now, try to remember if it was brought to anyone's attention, by either you, or your Father (from the list of visitors ), that these items were something of value. Now, think back to shortly after this break in, who, on that list seemed to be acting "different", or perhaps, not been available either immediately afterwards, or ever again. Now, make the same type of list, but this time, for people that you believe would have some knowledge of value, and again, try to remember if thier behavoir had changed in anyway after this occured. I would say that the odds of this being done by someone you had contact with, are very strong, and I would say it is more likely to be someone from list # 2 ( but don't rule out list #1 ) ..... the odds of an average thief breaking into a place & taking models & lighted signs ......... are really very slight. If you take a few steps back think about the dates as I mentioned & do the lists, I'll bet you'll pinpoint a couple suspects - if they are still "in the hobby" .... chances may be good that they'll still have a couple of your things hanging around thier place
  4. Major score Don, this is the brush that did all of the cool 70's murals & custom paint work - great, great brush - you know your stuff my friend - congrats !!!
  5. I kinda think I'd prefer to start with a fresh Deora kit, considering I still see them around swap meets & shows for $5 to 10 bucks - I would just keep the bed cover from that one & step on the rest.
  6. This is the only " 2K" that I know of ..... and it sure ain't lacquer - it's glop
  7. Nice rack Ray ....uh .... you know what I mean
  8. Finally, someone with good taste & a brain - refreshing
  9. Ya Tom, that is highly, Highly unusual, I'm pretty positive models & hobby related items wouldn't be on any burglars list, in fact, I would bet on it ....nope, this would have to be someone who was there & knew about the stuff, most likely from a previous tour / visit - do you have any pictures that were taken for your home insurance policy ? ...... I sure hope all these expensive promos & kits were fully covered, if not, consider it for the stuff you do still have , or put in an alarm system & window bars........ in any case, it may be time to consider not looking back to when this occured & just appreciate what you have now ; & move on from there.
  10. I still prefer the KISS method of modelling, no gadgets, I'm thrilled with a Dremel & a bunch of airbrushes, No food dehydrators, lathes & I certainly have zero desire to explore, or tinker with 3D printing; Just a model in a box, a few parts, paint & glue - I'm good.
  11. Ya, that looks really easy, go with that
  12. Your one of the few that notice this Ken, your 100% right, All of them had a certain look, that only be done with the type of paint that was used at that time, besides that, on a model, it doesn't bury the details & appear to be dipped like glop ..... it has a synthetic plastic gloss look to it, that has never appealed to me ever.Yep, eurathane has killed many a good model, overated & overused. Give me good old lacquer everytime. I think of it this way, a cubic zirconia looks like a diamond to the untrained eye, but why bother with it; if you have the real deal ..... pointless.
  13. Although it isn't too difficult, it is something that you'll want to take a few steps back & think about, look at a few SMOOTH-ON videos on Youtube for help.Oh, keep in mind the stuff has a limited shelf life, which means you may as well do a few more things at the same time, before it expires. Keep the stuff far away from your paint area, you may end up with silicone contamination, which will result in fisheyes for all paint work. Also, as mentioned, if it is a part, or parts that aren't expensive, or difficult to buy perhaps just do that. Plain & simple, It is a seperate hobby.Worse comes to worse, If there is someone out there willing to do it for you for a decent price & in a timely manner - go that route.
  14. I think that if someone is chosen, they will most certainly be up to the task; with all the pride, integrity & dedication to the hobby that Don has put into Modelhaus; it won't be just handed over for a few bucks.
  15. Granted, but who says a rant has to make any sense ? ( a rant is a rant, nothing more, nothing less .... it is what it is ) , anyways, as far as rants go, this one may not be my finest to date ; but I felt it was fairly solid overall.
  16. I'm just not as thrilled with this thing, as much as everyone seems to be. It looks like a seperate hobby, that I don't need. Consider that there are still many modellers who after all the years of playing with styrene, still haven't a clue how to even knock out a simple, decent paintjob ( from a can, or airbrush ) , and the ones who think tons of "detail" & photoetch will help improve their poorly built model; but truly doesn't. They won't take the time to learn the skills to just do a nice out of the box build, nope .... they'll continue to try to play with the big boys & go out & buy every new gadget & trinket there is ..... seriously, how many guys will educate themselves to make this thing work .... not too many me thinks.....to those who do lay out the bread & give this a try, good luck
  17. Your correct Ace, the majority of people are & always will be total idiots.
  18. Orange is the way to go, the green cheapens the look you have going & that tone has been over used by all...... grey & black has also been done to death, this deserves a real paintjob ...... a bright red or light blue would also make it pop - Great build so far
  19. Your best bet is to play it safe & use the same brand / system, there is no need or logic in playing around & taking chances- I can never understand what purpose this serves & why some guys continue to , play the goofy scientist & then get peeved when things go bad.
  20. Very neat - thanks for sharing, I'm working on the AMT shortened bug body "Superbug" & making it into a 70's custom - Meyers Manx chassis as well
  21. Hmm, now there's a "unique project" ...... the Uncertain Garbage Truck ...... uh ..... on the other hand; maybe not.
  22. Huh, what ..... Steve ..... is that you ?
  23. That is how I did my 2 Uncertain T trikes Tom, I was able to get a cheap kit ( on a "Buy it Now", off E-Pay for $24 ) ..... traced out the patterns, a buddy had a bunch cut at a shop, we gave a few to some good guys, kept some & then I dumped the kit back on E-Pay for crazy big bucks
  24. Fantastic so far Eric !! - I'm digging it !!!
  25. I imagine it'll take Steve a little while to pump out 500 kits at home on his charity 3D printer ( I have no knowledge of how long these things take to print one part, but I've heard it aint very fast !!!..... will it take, say 3 months, 6 months to make one of these ? ) ..... and I wonder how he's planning to plate the chrome ..... another "interesting thing here, on his list of "pre-order customers" ; the list starts at #250 ..... I wonder what happened to the first 250 .... wow ..... these really are limited ..... ya, that's the ticket, "limited", extra limited
