Then shut up and fix it, Mr Mechanic. I have none either, as you are just a 13 year old with NO knowledge and a big mouth. Tell you what Andy, you are close enough. Come over to the "Buckeye Scale Classic' show and you, your dad, and I can sit down and have a chat as to your online antics and manure-spreading.
-
Yup, Andy, me again. If you would quit being such a douche and listen to people, maybe you would be taken seriously. You can't even fix your bike and you want to tell ME how cylinder head designs work and raise comments on how poor Hybrids are? Get over yourself. 20 years from now you will look back and see just how stupid you were (or still might be) and shake your head. Don't you have some plastic you need to be mangling?

August, Andy can't even drive, he is 13. Take his ramblings at face value and nothing more. He couldn't test drive anything but a bicycle, skateboard, or heelies. Having driven a Prius (first-Gen unit) for a short time, the double-start sequence threw me until I got used to it. I am all for fuels and horsepower, but if the electric/hybrid thing is for you, the cars are ok. I just think it is humorous that all the hype about their 'Carbon Footprint' being so low is overshadowed by the (lost to the masses as it is never mentioned) environmental impact both creating and disposing of the batteries has. Seems that NO ONE wants to touch that side of their existence. As for them racing; why not? Logical step as they do contain some form of a gasoline engine (allowing them to be easily accepted into the racing community) and are generally very sleek by design. A low drag/slip co-efficient coupled with high power output makes them a natural. Add in traction/downforce/cooling enhancements and go for it.

Question for the Mopar crew

No, any manufacturer could SELL any engine size they wanted TO THE PUBLIC, but sanctioning body class rules still limited the cars to 305 cid for racing! -
Question for the Mopar crew
whale392 replied to imatt88's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A little education for you, Andy (since you obviously haven't studied that in one of your 1/2hr 'reading' sessions), the AAR Cuda was powered by a de-stroked 340 (down to 304 cubes) built by All American Racing (whom built the cars), and the T/A Challenger ran a de-stroked 340 (also down to 304 cubes) built by Kieth Black (of Hemi fame). Both engines suffered regular and numerous failures (some at the hands of 10,000+ rpm spurts) and that, along with the 4-speed grenade issues, led MOPAR to abandon the Trans-Am series shortly after. The reason for the 340 in the 'street' cars was for its' dependability and overall power characteristics (after all, Mopar didn't want to suffer the public humiliation the Chevy 307/305 gave GM). With that said, the Chevy 302 was one RUNNING motor! -
Revell Mustang question ?
whale392 replied to 57peppershaker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Steve, The 06GT, 07GT500, 08 Bullitt, 08 GT500KR, and the Hertz Mustang are all based on the same kit and most (if not all) of the parts will swap back and forth kit-wise. The front brakes on the GT500 and GT500KR are of the larger variety, rear brakes are the same. The later issue GT500 got the open-air air filter (like the GT500KR) and the supercharger. Yes, the supercharged 5.4L engine will sit right down into any of the engine bays, and to add so will the 2010GT and GT500 powertrains. -
Fire At Woodland Scenics facility
whale392 replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That will be a blow to the hobby. Hopefully, they will rebuild and continue to offer modelers their fine products. I have countless bags of their goods here, and even more in Florida....great scenic stuff. -
Multiple entries are fine! The more the merrier.

If you would see it at a Bug-In, VW Rally, or Porsche meet, it fits here.

Good to see you back at this, Jimmy. I am in the market for an RPS13 myself, and will have to give you a shout when I get one and you get these motors ready for resale! On a side note, did you re-classify? Are you still Crewing on the 15?

Hmm. Interesting that AMT would do that. You would think either all chrome trees cast in the same material, or cast in the material of the issue they are destined for. I first noticed the purple when I looked down into the headlight buckets and saw that the chrome didn't get all the way to the bottom. It looked like the Euro Blue/Purple H4 HID bulbs were installed! Then, Like you Dave, I noticed the cast plugs where the chrome wasn't on them...Metallic Purple. The real kicker was when I took the fan shroud halves and sanded the ejector pin marks off and squared up/flattened the mating surfaces. Now, the kit itself has been OK to build so far, if you don't mind the typical for the time AMT parts breakdown and instruction call-out. I am modifying mine. Will I get any more than just the one I have.........not unless I can get a better deal pricing-wise. I was intrigued enough to buy one at current pricing, but once I got into the kit, I personally don't believe it is worth the MSRP price of admission. I like the kit, but not 'like-it-enough-to-pay-that-much' like.

The MCM Volkswagen/Porshe owners club is holding their first-ever Bug-in and Lizard Rally right on these very grounds. Open to all VW products and types (including VW powered kit cars like the Meyers Manx) as well as Porsche vehicles from all years/model ranges (including Porsche powered kit cars). Registration opens now and goes indefinitely; show starts at registration. Prizes include the oohs and aahs from the community and passers-by. Sighn up now and enjoy the fun! This CBP will also be open-ended, with no time restriction unless it is deemed needed. Bring on the VWs and Porsches!

So I see I am not alone then, Dave. My white plastic kits' chrome was Metallic Purple underneath! Also, on the Revell Beetle Cabriolet kit; the 'Skips Drive-in' issue had a pretty nice set of Fuchs in it too...if I remember correctly. I need to see if I can find another one of those kits to swap parts back and forth with this Manx issue.
-
The Revell Beetle Cabriolet (last seen in the 'Skips Drive In' series has engine detail. I am hazy at best on it, but I do remember building one up 15 years ago or so. Dave, I agree with you on the 'Brittle' glitter plastic. When I scraped the chrome and saw it, I wondered how it was going to react to glue and white styrene. It glued ok, but I still haven't got to mixing it with styrene yet (as I haven't got to filling and shaping the engine cooling cover/fan and cylinders yet.
-
Ok, I have an observation here and was wondering if anybody elses' are the same. I went to sand some of my chrome parts to glue them together and lo-and-behold the plastic underneath was Glitter Purple! Now, my kit is just a white plastic unit, but to see the Purple Glitter plastic covered in chrome makes me wonder if I got an 'oops' kit of if they are all like that.
-
Don't waste your time, Dave. Once the veil of overshadowed/oppressed/mental stunting is lifted, words of wisdom will be acknowledged. Until then, there is only one line of thought, and that is of the uninitiated and powered by father-figured sway. I was similar at the same time frame. Luckily, I relinquished my youthful foolhardiness for truth.

Excellent 930S you have there (or is it a straight 930?) I am slowly working on a series of 930s, one 930S Cabrio, one 930S Coupe, a 930SE Targa, a 930SE Cabrio, and a 930SE Coupe. I have the Revell issues of this kit, and was wondering if the tail light sections would interchange (as the Revell units are all red, where the Fujimi/Testors/Fujimi-boxed-as-Revell kits are molded clear.
-
Just started working on mine today. Gotta say that the ejector pin marks and flash (in my example anyway) are a little heavy and really have me questioning the outlay of cash for this kit. I have a lot of ideas for the kit, and some spare parts to do it with................. .....now to raid my nail polishes for a good color.

1/16 Navy Seal
whale392 replied to Ramcharger's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
The shading and shadowing (especially on the face) look great, Ron. I used to paint 25mm AD&D figures and was actually considered pretty good at it. My favorite part was the face and flesh, making the stains on the teeth, the wet look to the eyes, and the overall tone gradient to the flesh. I miss it and have thought about getting back into painting them again. My old D.M had 22,000 (that is NOT a mis-type, he had them all categorized and filed according to type, frequency, and race/class/creature type) and I painted over 250 of them while I was stationed in Norfolk. I was thinking it looked familiar, just couldn't remember exactly which kit it was. -

Verlinden or Dragon import kit, Ron? Not that I would know anything about the SEALs or anything, but to me he is just too clean! Must have been fresh-dropped. -
Well, Christmas cash brought me a 1/12th Revell 2010 GT500, a 1/25th Revell 2010GT Convertible, and another 1/25th Revell 2010 GT500. Looks like after the holidays, I will have to get more up on my GT-t0-Mach1 conversion and get these 3 into the line-up somewhere.

Comparing car models to airplane models
whale392 replied to Terry Sumner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am glad I have you on ignore, Jacen, as your laughter shows just how little you really know, and just how socially inept you are. Do you like to fly? Did your last aircraft trip get you safely there? If so, you can thank me and all of my brothers/sisters who spin wrenches on these to make that happen. If you think my job is so funny, think about that smoking hole you would be if I/we didn't have that level of attention to detail. I truly feel sorry for you. -
Looking good, Dirk!
