  1. Gregg, You could always buy a futon, sleep on it, and use the bedroom for storage and model building..........................
  2. AMT's 3 in 1 boat kit, back in 1959 when I was 6. got the reissue, some day I will build it with cigar wrapper planking over the hull, maybe an Offenhauser engine built to look like a Miller marine unit.
  3. I am a foundry tooling engineer for Urick Foundry in Erie, Pa. We make ductile iron castings for a wide variety of industrial applications for our customers, and also supply all the ductile iron castings for our parent company, Ridge Tool Co.
  4. I have an idea for a new category for model meets and contests. How about a table displaying old models that we have purchased built up but no one knows who the original builder is? This could be a tribute to early, mostly "out of the box" builds or modified models showing the early years of the hobby. I think it would be fun and a great way to honor the unknown builders. Who knows, maybe someone would recognize a model they built years ago and could give some history to the new owner!
  5. A. C. Moore has soft plastic animal figures of all sorts that look to be right for 1/25th scale. Not too expensive, either.
  6. just needs a bucket of powdered lime for when the biffy gets whiffy....................
  7. cut a pen barrel in half lengthwise and use it for a drive shaft tunnel
  8. Gregg, Looks like I won't be able to get to NNL East after all. Another health issue has raised its head in the form of jaundice- I look like a bowl of saffron rice! My liver function numbers are way up and the docs haven't isolated a cause yet, except that it doesn't seem to be viral. I was really looking forward to going and bringing the Double Deuce project as a primer project, but I guess it will have to wait until next year- maybe I'll get it done by then! Well, just print a lot of pix in the mag and I'll enjoy the show from my arm chair!
  9. I plan on being there, Gregg- thanks for this generous offer! I assume these are for everyone who participates in the forum, and not just vendors?
  10. Would someone from M.A.M.A's be willing to bring along some of Norm's latest price lists? It would dull the pain..............
  11. my, how the mighty are fallen! from superbird to superturd! that is a great aging job! and wouldn't you take a full size one if it was offered!
  12. Sometimes you think you have it, but you don't, but sometimes you don't think you have it, and you do......... that about sums up my painting experience! Good luck and always move ahead!
  13. great job, looking forward to more, reminds me of Paper Moon, when Addie and Mose run into the bootlegger and sheriff who are twin brothers!
  14. How about a beefier diff to cope with all that power up front and wide rubber down below? Maybe a quick change?
  15. I have a Revell 1932 Ford chassis, painted and with front and rear suspension and wheels and tires glued on with superglue, and I discovered it was warped, starting right in front of the floor section. Has anyone had luck using hot water to unwarp an already assembled chassis? Any issues with hot water allowing superglue to come loose? I plan on putting the chassis in a container with a weight on it, pour in the hot water, and hope it settles itself. Any suggestions welcome!
  16. looking really good, keep us posted with more progress pix, also, how about pix of what you started with?
  17. Is that Bodydropped as in right after the paint job? Welcome!
  18. NICE PROJECT-I LOVE SEEING OLD BUILT UPS AND JUNKERS RESTORED. DID YOU BY ANY CHANCE BUY THEM FROM GEORGE STULL?
  19. W. O Bentley designed steam locomotives before switching to cars- that explains the bigness............Bugatti once said that Bentley designed great trucks.
  20. Monogam's Green Hornet has round tail lights. I sanded down the thickness and used dark red paint for the lenses (they are all chrome). You could use a small Lucas type lense painted red for the rounded lense.
  21. The Halibrands I got from Norm are the original unpierced type which were the first style Halibrand manufactured. Later these were modified with the kidney shaped slots.
  22. looking good so far- what wheels and tires did you use?
  23. great build, great gluebomb salvage!
  24. Bernard, Replicas and Miniatures has unpierced Halibrand wheels, but you need to ask about them because Norm doesn't list them in his catalogue. They would be perfect for this build.
