  1. I have both of these in the stack to build. Yours looks great. Nice job.
  2. So it now appears as if the Tamiya Gloss Clear TS-13 is discontiuned. What the heck is going on? I just got to using this stuff and I am loving it and they discontinue, this sucks. Anybody have any idea why?
  3. Looks great Scott. ANother model to display and be proud of. Keep up the great work.
  4. Good Ol' Jimmy Means. I remember him and this car. Looks great, Nice job. It's great to see cars that are not the big name teams and drivers.
  5. So from what everybody has posted here and on Randy Ayers Nascar site is, it appears as though the car was the factory Platinum paint with the trim and possibly the roof taped up to protect it from the sand and the graphics are to be black.
  6. Here's a picture that was posted on Randy Ayers Nascar site. It looks as though the chrome has been taped up with masking tape as well as the roof. What do you guys think?
  7. Jacen, Bruce's website is www.decalsbylucas.com
  8. Great looking Olds. What did you use for the engine?
  9. I had posted this over on Randy Ayers Nascar Forum but thought I would post here to see if I get any other help. I have recently purchased the decals for the car from Decals by Lucas and they say the car was white with dark blue graphics. Does anybody know whether the car was the factory off white or whether the Petty's repainted it more of a pure white? It was pointed out that maybe the roof looks to be tan or irovy. I borrowed this picture from Bruce Sadewater's post over there.
  10. Nothing like the stock cars of yesteryear. Looks awesome. Thank you for sharing.
  11. I am doing some research for a few future projects and I am looking for some help. I have plans to do some Junior Johnson cars and need some reference pics. I am looking at doing the winning car from the 1960 Daytona 500 - a 59 Biscayne, the 62 Pontiac and the 63 Impala that he drove. I have a few pics but not much. Any help would be appreicated. Also does anybody know where I can find a single carb manifold for the 421 Pontiac engine?
  12. Looking great Scott. By the way whats the chassis for in the background?
  13. Should have stated that is the 426 wedge engine which cosmetically looks the same as the 413's. The 426 HEMI's weren't around til 64 Daytona 500. Thanks for the info on suspension colors. Guess I will just have to pick one and go with it.
  14. I have a small update on this project. I have the 426 ci engine with single carb manifold and manual trans from a Lindberg 64 Mopar that I will use, no pictures yet haven't done any painting or detailing yet on engine. I have purchased a set of the resin 1960-1964 Firestones from Plastic Performance Products (PPP) and thought I could use the steel wheels from the Lindberg kit but they are to small of diameter so, back to the internet to purchase PPP wheels. I have also purchased one of there rollcages as well to adapt to this project. I have primed the chassis and found some areas that needed alittle more attention with some putty. Overall I think it will work great. Need to finish up and start checking on ride height. I have also started to see if I could modify the interior pieces from the same Lindberg 64 Dodge 330 kit that the chassis came from to fit the 62 Savoy body. Have modified the package tray and added some wheelhouses to the rear seat area. I will attempt to make door panels with stock upholstery pattern on them using the reverse side of the Dodge pieces.
  15. Does anybody know when the Petty's started to paint there suspension parts the darker shade of blue?
  16. I was thinking that but thougth that it was lacquer and didn't know how it would affect decals. Thanks for the info guys.
  17. Just wondering what you guys use to dullcote tires? I have some resin PPP stock car tires that needs letters and then dullcote on them.
  18. Through the Randy Ayers Nascar Fourm I have gotten some great pics of this car, even an interior shot. One of them even shows where the Pettys used Chevy hubcaps for headlight covers, you can see the bowties around the perimeter of the cap.
  19. Would anybody have any pictures of the shock setup from 1962? I assume that they ran dual shocks front and back and that I will have to cut the inner fender on the front to allow the shocks to pass into engine compartment and tie somehow. Getting close to being able to prime the chassis to see how my modifications look.
  20. I like it. I got one of these in my model pile. Making me want to get it out but have to much on the go now. Thanks for sharing a beautiful model.
  21. Do it Marcos you won't be disappointed. I would love to see what you can do with one of these. I have been working on one for a few weeks when time allows and it is great kit.
  22. I have a couple of the old MPC Petty Roadrunner kits in the que to be worked so, I am following along with your build. Looking great. I have been watching all your Petty builds, gotta say great work Scott.
  23. I remember this car and the wreck. Found it on You Tube.
  24. Started making the Savoy trim on the drivers side and added the sedan post. Everything is just tacked in place for now. Need to finish clean-up on trim yet and make another for the passenger side.
