  1. I'd like to meet Juha Ario. I'm a great fan of his work!
  2. I like to use the telephone wire with the solid copper core. There are six different colors inside the outer coating. Red and blue for the tractor to trailer air lines, green or black for the light wire. The solid copper core helps it to stay in the shape you want it to.
  3. Sweet build! And the old Plymouth pickup is the perfect tow rig!
  4. I just came from Wal-Mart a few minutes ago. They did have a bunch of new stuff! '72 Nova, '40 Willys, '65 Chevelle wagon, '69 Chevelle, '70 Chevelle, and '71 Chevelle, all at $9.96. Pinto and Gremlin Fresh Cherries die-cast kits, primered or painted, $9.96 Interesting that the Nova, Chevelle wagon, and Willys are being sold as 3 in 1 kits, under the name "Street, Stock, or Strip". I know the Chevelle and the Nova can be built that way, but I really doubt the Willys has the stock parts in there!
  5. Aaron, That kind of wrecker assembly was common in the thirties. Many times, as a truck wore out, the wrecker part would be transferred to a newer truck. So it's very possible that it would be seen on a truck from the fifties. When my Dad has his salvage yard, he had a '41 Chevy truck with a nearly identical set-up, we even had to crank it by hand! He also had a similar unit on a '55 Ford, except he converted it to use an electric winch.
  6. Beautiful car, Jairus! I seen and admired it before, and It's nice to see the story behind the build!
  7. That's kind of what I do, too! I buy and build the cars and trucks I'd want to own in 1/1. And I gather up old wrecks and rebuild them, as I did when I was younger with 1/1 cars.
  8. Nice rebuild, Steve! I'm pretty much a stock builder, too, although I might throw on a set of fancy wheels and jazz up the engine sometimes.
  9. Nice save, Rick! Those old I.H.C.s are getting hard to find!
  10. Great job! And thanks for the memories of sitting by the TV with my cowboy hat and cap pistols!
  11. An auction site for model car builders, let's get together and make this work! http://www.emodelcars.com
  12. Bob, That is really something! The colors and the weathering are perfect!
  13. Wow, If I had something like that to drive, I'd be a real hit down at the A&W! It's nice to see a Willy done as a street rod!
  14. Matt, The '50 looks perfect! I'll be watching the progress on that one! The '34 is off to a good start, but I'm thinking that if you chop the top, you may want to consider shortening the bed. Just an idea, and my own opinion. And I'm not always right!
  15. Nice work! What scale is it? I have both the AMT 1/25 and the Minicraft 1/16 kits. One of these days I'll build at least one of them! Your interior pics are priceless!
  16. Nice work! I really like the color on the Pontiac, too!
  17. Jairus, Definitely a promo. They had the metal chassis and friction motor. I can't remember if they made the '57 T-Bird as a Craftsman kit, but if they did, it would have had a plastic chassis with the big splined axles.
  18. Well, you're way better than I was at age 14! Your paint work is nice! We get our kits from all kinds of places! Hobby shops, on-line auctions and vendors, shows, and trading or buying directly from other modelers. You're right, Wal-Mart generally sux when it comes to models. Some of them are better than others. Some have no kits at all.
  19. Wow, that's sharp! That's one I would have never thought of!
  20. Casey, Nice work! I like the color combo!
  21. I think they did reissue it a couple years ago, but it went fast.
  22. That is really SWEET! I've always had a great respect for a person that works with wood. Only thing I can make from wood is a fire! LOL!
  23. The Revell snap kit is above average detail and quality for that type of kit. I think it lends itself well to customizing. On this one, I lowered the suspension and changed out the headlights. I'm currently scratch building a front bumper and visor, then I can go ahead and finish it up!
  24. You're off to a good start! I like the color! I'm trying to figure the closest car to having the right convertible parts, like the boot, doglegs, or maybe an up-top. Maybe the AMT '66 Cutlass? Or maybe the AMT '70 Bonneville (at least the top boot). If you want the top boot from my '70, you can have it. I'm using a resin hardtop body.
  25. I'm WAY over 16, and I wouldn't mind having a truck like that!
