  1. Nice builds! I don't think I've ever seen anyone build carnie trucks before! Are you going to build the whole show? That would be quite the diorama!
  2. This is a replica of a camper my Dad took in on a trade back in the seventies. I thought it looked kinda cool, so when the Rambler kit came out, I knew I'd have to build one! It took a while to get started, but it was a quick build! Sorry about the fuzzy photos, I was in kind of a hurry.
  3. That's nice, Bob! Hey, is Auto Motif still around? I thought Milt closed it up a couple of years ago. I used to love going in that place!
  4. Good lookin' ol' cabover! I drove many a mile in an old 352! Instead of the 8V-71, the one I drove had a Cummins VT-903. Eventually it was replaced with a regular Cummins six-cylinder.
  5. Well Aaron, I can't think of any plastic kits that could have used that engine, but there are some resin kits that could have used it. Such as the Emeryville IHC, the old "Cherry Picker" IHC, or the Kenworth CBE. All of those are available from Spaulding Trading and Shipping.
  6. Okay, here are a couple of mine. First, an R&R '53 Buick convertible. I used a modified Monogram '53 Chevy chassis. Wheels and tires from the AMT '62 T-Bird kit. I can't remember for sure where the up-top came from. Maybe the Lindberg '53 Ford. Next is a Revell '34 Ford coupe in 1/16 scale. I'm using a lot of parts from the Minicraft A-V8. I cast the rear wheels and slicks from resin. I have a bunch more, but these are two I want to get back after sooner than later.
  7. Here's a picture of that '60 Chevy sedan delivery body sitting on the R/M '60 Chevy Impala chassis. I used the low rider suspension, and the wheels are from the '64 Chevy pickup "California Wheels" kit.
  8. Great job on the trailer! Nice little Triumph, too!
  9. Okay, looks like you already built the replica! I looked at your website after I looked at the "A"!
  10. That last post was mine. We had a power outage and I forgot I got signed out!
  11. That could have been me on the cover of that box. My wife still looks at me that way when I finish a model car! That look of awe in her eyes! It was so much easier to impress the girls back then!
  12. Nice chop job, Zed! Just one question, what is the material you used to fill in the big holes?
  13. Mainstreamers ROCK! Nice work!
  14. That's some outrageous detail work! This is a convertible, right?
  15. Wow, that's cool! Makes me want to break out one of my '62 Catalina kits and build an old circle burner!
  16. Nice paint work! I like the color on that Pontiac!
  17. Nice work! I'd go with the mags on the front, steel on the rear. That interior sure looks good!
  18. For some reason, I enjoy rebuilding old junkers that seem to be beyond hope. It's not like this is a rare kit, I have at least a couple of these that haven't been touched yet! This one was in the box for a buck at a local second hand store. The cab and one door were missing, and the rest was held together with more than an ample amount of glue. Fact is, I couldn't even disassemble most of it! I replaced the broken front axle with a lowered one from the '64 Chevy pickup kit. I found an original issue cab in my junk boxes, it had the left door glued into it, so I just left it and glued the replacement door on. I made skirts from styrene sheet. The wheels and tires are also from the Revell '64 Chevy pickup kit. I painted it with Krylon purple from a bomb can. Plans are to add some scallops or something like that. I might go with some different wheels or wheel covers. Thought I'd post this as a way to try out the picture posting features of this site.
  19. This is a movie that is definitely worth going to a theater to see! Among the things that others have mentioned, I noticed that the car exhaust sounds are dead on! Most notably Sally Carrera's "Porsche" sound and Doc Hudson's flathead six with straight pipes when he goes out and runs the dirt by himself. The comments from the little kids in the theater during the movie were priceless! I'll still buy the DVD when I can, so I can go over it time and again.
  20. Looks great, Anthony!
  21. Are you talking old Sterling or new? Illini Replicas used to cast a Sterling from the late '40s/early '50s. I'm not sure if they are still in business, though. I ran across a 1/25 scale toy new Sterling a couple of years ago. Not perfect but it could have made a decent model with some work and a chassis from a Ford Aeromax.
  22. Great build! I really like the color combination!
  23. Most of my stalled builds are the result of a screwup, usually paint. Some I put back in the box simply because they aren't turning out to be what I wanted them to be. I used to worry a lot about the unfinished projects, but I'm starting to agree with Jairus. I've learned something on nearly every one of them! At this point, I have a LOT of projects I will never finish. Not that they're bad projects, just not something that appeals to me anymore. I'm thinking that there may be someone else that will like them more than I do, so I'm planning to list a bunch of them on eModelCars. Then I can use the proceeds to buy someone elses cast off projects!
  24. Very nice! I wish my weathering was that good!
