Anyone Getting Ready For Winter?
Dave Ambrose replied to OldTrucker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Winter’s arrived with a vengeance. We’ve had 2+ inches in the last 36 hours. More is on the way. Before you start laughing, this all runs off. -

I thought about it. The jars themselves are very rugged, they would be falling onto a hollow core door, and the soil conditions here are such that we get mostly high frequency waves even in big quakes. A sailboat style shelf fiddle seemed like overkill. I will probably glue a 1/4-inch retainer onto the front of the shelves when I build a new shelf. -

I built this shelf a few years ago. I should have put in a couple of taller shelves, but it’s generally worked out well. -
Very nice. What’s the significance of the military ribbon in the license plate?

Anyone Getting Ready For Winter?
Dave Ambrose replied to OldTrucker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My dad had one of those. I left it there when we sold his house. I should have brought it with me. Would have been perfect for cleaning up all the darn Lego blocks, and other toys. -
Was at Spirit of Speed contest yesterday, and scored some good stuff; a Pair of Cord convertible kits and a Bobby Allison Matador kit. it hasn’t gotten here yet, but I scored a Finemold Jedi Star Fighter with hyperdrive ring. That will be a fun one to build

How do I get anything done???
Dave Ambrose replied to tbill's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mine's not quite that bad, but it's gotten to the point where some clean-up is in order. That's on this evening's agenda. -

I completely missed the "drag" connection. <facepalm/> -
In my quest to fix the original 404 problem, I had our hosting company fix a problem with the server software. That brought a bunch of security rules online, and we keep tripping over some of them. I've fixed what I think are the most troublesome ones. Please either post here or send me a PM if you encounter the problem again. Thanks, Dave

We finally fixed an underlying server problem last night. It might change the behavior. If you encounter a problem, please record the date, time, and your timezone and send them to me.

Atmobile, no. Our dear frenemy, Google, thinks model refers to a woman. -

It's been a looong time since I was at Berkeley, but it sure looks like weed to me. -

Google has revamped their advertising platform. It has been a near-total disaster. Everyone starts using it in a few weeks, whether they want to or not. I'll go look for a setting to hide those ads. Update: We already have those blocked. But. . . sometimes advertisers deliberately miscategorize their ads. If you see one again, there should be something selectable in the upper right corner of the ad. Click that and report the ad as inappropriate. -

It's the season where we actually want to wear socks with our shorts. ? It comes right after fire season. ? A little later, we actually need that 4/3 wetsuit. -

I thought I'd turned the in-content ads off. Thanks for the heads up. I tweaked the settings again. I'm sure you'll let me know if things get out of hand. -
Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian members!

Ad Blockers

Our core problem here is somewhat amusing. How many of you have told your neighbor or coworker that you're going to a model contest and had them get the completely wrong idea? Google analyzes the site content to figure out what we might find interesting. Google is having that problem. Ah, postmodern technology. -

We have settings that are supposed to keep the ads clean. I'll go recheck those. We are working to bring in someone with experience in these matters to get this all ironed out. Update: I've tweaked the settings and blocked the dating sites. Sorry to all you single guys, you'll just have to find that info on your own. If you run across any inappropriate content, please send me a PM with the URL for the ad. To get the URL, right click on the ad, and select copy link address, then paste it into the PM.
