This is going to be my entrant. I won't be starting for a few weeks as I have a couple other priorities. This will be my first true lowrider build. Hoping to make it worthy of the art, style and creative elements these are known for.
Great build, too bad about the grainy pics, we're missing out on viewing some great work. The trans colours lend themselves to a world of shades with what ever you use as a base. Awesome candy red, makes me think of a candy apple.
I too am always surprised when I think back on my life and how many risk I took and close calls I had that I am still fully in tacked.
Contary to what you may think I am a pretty safe operator, I like to use the old adage with a twist, "it's better to safe then have a story" . I already have too many stories.
Without risk there is no progression.
Good start Martin, too bad about the warping issue. Nice to see you recitied that problem. Evilbay has a ton of Pegasus 13" spoked wheels. Not too bad for price either when you work your time and gas to actually to go a shop to get them. I recently picked up a few sets, very very nice quality. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Pegasus-Hobbies-1-24-1-25-Triple-Gold-DZs-w-Whitewalls-4-PGH1117-/232141104502?hash=item360cb02576:g:fBcAAOSwFdtX021-
The base boards do not create any spark which is the source of ignition on many fans because of the brushes. The base board would need to have an exsisting short at the connection points. It's non issue, plus the volume of paint fumes to oxygen ratio would be so great that you would have passed out or thrown up long before they would ever reach a point of igniting.
Quick up date.
In my constant quest for flow in visual design I decided to remove a good chunk out of the rear section. A total scale amount of just over 9ft. I think it has much more flow now.
Here's a glimps of my inspiration for the direction I am going with the paint.
Thanks very much Art for taking the time to provide this in depth information, much appreciated. I like that you use different colour kicker to help you. Now that I know you guys have great succes with this stuff I will give it a go. Nice looking work btw, it will look pretty slick once your done with it.
Thanks for the clarification on the 2prt. I normally use CA and baking soda for filler. Just recently mixed up some MEK liquid plastic, so far not a fan of it. Dries out too fast and is just gummie. Appreciate the info Bill. Sorry for the hi-Jack Suzier, thought my questions could be relevant and might add to your inquiry.
Bill, I have a two questions for you. Do you have issues with the heat from the two part bondo and has it caused any warping issues for you and do you every use MEK and make your own liquid plastic? I have always wanted to use the two part stuff but the heat has been a concern.
