2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
LoneWolf15 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Oh ! So addiction is now considered a good cause ? Lol ! I dropped about the same , Virg . Sanded down all the formerly chrome plated parts, total pain in the behind ! Hope to have it all in metallizer tomorrow morning and weathered . Slow but sure ..... -
Doc , Did Mr Stepanek say , " Pearl X ? Hmm ! Very pretty , Jim , I like it alot ! The more you play with them, the more you'll fall in love with them !

STRIPTEASE 49 MERC (The Sultana of Old Burlesque)
LoneWolf15 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in WIP: Model Cars
She'd look good cut into pieces on the front of the Pete ! Let's go , Boyo ! Get them zombies casted up . Good thing Virgil wasn't holding his breath in anticipation of said occurrence , then he really would look like Papa Smurf ! -
The tape marks can be removed with a bit of Novus 2 on a piece of soft t shirt , it will remove the residue without hurting your finish.

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
LoneWolf15 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Thanks , T Stripped all the kit chrome this morning , now I have to remove all the mold lines , glue the exhaust stacks and fuel tanks together and seal off the seam lines . Next up , shooting the parts with aluminum metallizer and start scratch building the rear platform . Real eye opener at the hobby shop today when Bob rang up the the scratch building supplies! -
STRIPTEASE 49 MERC (The Sultana of Old Burlesque)

You're driving me crazy , you know that ? I really enjoyed building Miss Indigo , the kit just falls together. The end result , well , that goes without saying ! What a great kit to build ! I had no plans to build another anytime soon and then you throw up this post ! I did promise Kathie that I would build one in her color and I bought those beautiful wire wheels from Modelhaus so ....... Thanks , Virg ! Appreciate the new project ! Lol! -
J, You are correct ! It's all about us ! Lol ! However , as I stated in my earlier post , it's this generation that is literally footing the bill right now . Think back , at eighteen , how many of your buddies were into modeling ? I can guarantee the number would be no where near how many of mine were at that time! This doesn't include the older guys either , by the way . We never really left it , nor lost our love for those particular cars of that era . As far as I can see , model building will always be with us in one form or another . It's our time right now, believe me , your day will come !
-
Problem being , the age group that is still heavily involved in the hobby grew up within the years of these latest releases . Simply put , it's where the money lies for the model companies . If your generation had put the money spent on video games into the hobby , it would be a far more equal balance , kitwise . Please understand , this is merely an observation , not an accusation . The days of the big model companies absorbing losses are over and done with , they simply can't afford it . They are going to cater to the wants and needs of those who are going to spend the most money on their product . For the older modelers , this is truly a golden age for us . The kits that are being put out right now are fantastic , something we've all been waiting for , most of us , for a very long time . Hopefully for the young guys and girls , there will be a resurgence of interest in the hobby by your generation and you'll see the kits released on your wish lists !

About to give up airbrushing + rant
LoneWolf15 replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As for the post about an airbrush taking too long to set up ..... How does two minutes sound ? Old wives tales , poor work / maintenance habits , and cheap equipment generally create this scenario ! I use a Paache H series , # 5 head and needle , no problems whatsoever ! Always set up , always cleaned properly , ready to go at a minute's notice . Andy , take some of your money and buy a good airbrush . Screw up a couple of kits or buy a few cans of spray paint and you've already cost yourself what a decent airbrush goes for . Use the old noggin , it boils down to simple economics ! -
Doug , Very clean builds , nice smooth paint ! Great work , keep it rollin' !

Minor pet peeve...
LoneWolf15 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As of late , all of Revell's new releases have the door handles and wipers on the chrome sprues rather than the bodies . Ease up , Tinman , take a deep breath , a swig of Geritol , and you'll be just fine ! Lol ! -
Ladies seem to have a knack for this ! They pay very close attention to detail and come out of the gate with the wheels up ! Watching my daughters and Kathie build was something to truly behold . Kathie really shocked me , not just with the airbrush , but with the overall building skills she exhibited on the very first one . Women seem to have an inborn sense for this type of skill that the male population has to work for ! Your wife did an excellent job on this , I liked the color , the building skill , and the way the model flows together . She should be very proud of herself !

An American Icon passed today
LoneWolf15 replied to Madd Trucker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Seems as though today was the day for it . We laid my former father in law to rest today . A good hard working man , raised 7 great kids , always willing to help out anyone in time of need , and a decorated military pilot . Jack " The Hook " Bohaski went out in style , he made his way to his final resting place , strapped onto the back of his beloved flatbed with his business logos attached to either end of the coffin ! I guess the Good Lord needed a professional towman , he got the best ! Love you , Pap ! Rest in Peace ! -
Engine compartment decals/labels?
LoneWolf15 replied to shucky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Shuck , One word .... Slixx ! 2 new sheets that they put out last year ! -
No way ! You'd find a way to get rust on it or cause it to weather or rot in some shape or form ! Lol !

Only one as far as I'm concerned , the original one in the Strip District ! Started going there in '72 ! Place is packed at 4 am !

LoneWolf15 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Model Cars
Krazyglu , The pleasure was all mine , believe me ! It's great to see a young stud such as yourself with such enthusiasm for the hobby ! Congrats on winning your class , you worked hard for it and it paid off ! A great day all around at a very nice show ! Pretty cool to be graced with the likes of the Chopper , The Nungster , Ed Powell , and a whole bunch of others at my tables . Makes for an educational , yet fun kind of day ! I had a blast , thanks to all of you for making it a highly enjoyable experience ! -
Humph ! You want Primanti's ? Come on up and I'll buy ! Whole lotta places up here that will tantalize the taste buds ! As for Eyegore , he's in a runoff with the Loonietic's dog as to which one's crazier or uglier ! Lmao ! As for cranky , that's your nickname , not mine ! The Old Man's disposition is always like peaches and cream ...... Yeah , right !

Yost's "RAZOR'S EDGE" A NEW TYPE OF RACE TRACK KILLER
LoneWolf15 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Model Cars
Razor's Edge scored a 3rd place in today's show . Found another use for the blades , I slashed the 1st and 2 nd place finisher's tires with the front spoiler as I left the table with it ! Wow ! That car and I were real cut ups today ! Face it ! All you humorists deserved that one ! Lmao ! -

LoneWolf15 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Model Cars
The fronts are American Satcos that are meant for the rear of a low profile street rod . The rears are from the AMT '70 Pro street Coronet . Irreverence at it's best ! Lol ! -

LoneWolf15 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Model Cars
Mr Stepanek , the wheels are made by Detail Master , they'd been languishing in a box for years and I finally put them to good use... I think ! Rom , gingerly is the word ! A wee bit different to handle than most other builds ! Glenn noted that this one will cut you coming and going , lol! Thank you all for the compliments , Mr Suarez is responsible for this build . He asked for a scout car with speed and the ability to clear the way amongst the Zoombie Horde , I obliged him ! Next up , the weathered piece I promised him ! Oh oh ! , will somebody please pick Mr Stepanek up off of the floor , he just fainted ! Lmao ! -
Open it , inspect it , prep and paint the body soon afterward . Into the flashout cabinet it goes , prep the rest of the kit , put it on the " to do " shelves . Realized as of late that I'm generally a year or two behind everybody on the builds of the latest releases . Going to have to change this up a bit in the coming months ! Next victim , the new Chrysler kit !

Nice color ! What we discussed ? If so , light sanding overall when removing the particles . This way , color coat will be consistent . Really looks good ! You have it down now !
