  3. Alrighty then here we go...... This little piece fits in the middle in the hole that was drilled earlyer Added some paint and some numbers and came up with this......Do ya know now???? Thats right its a Tachometer and in this pic im attaching the glass, its blue because it has a protective cover on it. Here the glass is added and so are the dial-in dials And here it is with the beauty ring added I left it brass purposely as a reminder of what the build started from all thats left is to make a bracket to hold it and wire it up. I hope you enjoyed , cya soon

Is your heart Reving this should be a dead give-a-way Ok If you dont have it by now the next set of photos should clue you in......
  5. Ok heres the suprize well not much of a suprize but I thought it would be fun to let you guess what its goin to be. See if you know the answer before I give it away. Have fun! Started with these materials Had to make a closed cylinder so I soldered these two pieces together Once it was soldered together I cut it off short to make this.... Then a piece of tube with a slightly smaller diameter was soldered on to the plate I had just made... And this is what I have once I cut the tube short..... Do you know what im making yet???? well if not move on to the next update.....

  8. Thanks for posting this John I remember seeing it at the Catus Classis show before we actually met. Guys this one you have to see in person to really get the full affect because its got a red light on the inside and generates smoke. This is one of my fav builds from you .

  11. Hey John this is a tad off subject but I was wondering if you could post photos of your Don Garlis dio the one where his clutch exploded?? of course in a differant thread., and let me know where it is. I loved seeing that in person but that was before we had ever met.

  13. love it ....how bout some pics of the interior
  14. It really depends on what your gonna glue together. I use a wide varity of glues from CA glue ( cyanoacrylate) , 5 min two part epoxys, white glue (Elmers), general purpose solvents (Plastructs), and even Tamiya clear. The 5min epoxy will give you enough time to get the postion of your parts just right and it will glue just about any material, Epoxy is also good for clear parts as it wont haze the parts and it dries clear. Whereas CA (or super glues) wont bond metals. There are diferant thinknesses of CA glue that allow you differing amounts of time to set your part. Thick usually gives you 20-25 seconds before permanent bond , med gives you 5-15 seconds and thin dries almost instantly. this is where we end up with parts glued to our fingers. Elmers just doesnt have the holding power and will eventually get brittle and break off. but it is good to use if you want to simulate cloth or tarps and stuff of this nature. which is a whole tutoial in itself. Now for styrene or plastic parts I like to use Plastruct Plastic weld this glue bonds plastic parts together by infusing them at the molecular level (or micro melting) this is best used for blending pieces together. And finally Tamiya's clear which is great for applying emblems to painted bodys just dab a bit on the part and feel good about applying it to the paint. I hope I didnt turn this into a collage lecture (Bonding 101), but I do hope i was able to help a little.
  15. Fantastic!
  16. You know what I like about you most John? Its not the fact that you are one of the most talented builders in our circle today, Its not even the fact that you have a room full of trophys to prove it. Its not your detailing or your painting (which are both superb). It's not even you fabricating skillz. Let me tell you what it is though, Its your ability to pick a subject that has never been touched on , weather its done by the numbers or done just to your likeing, You pull it off man and that's what I like about you brother.
  17. Im always at a loss for wards with your work Dave ...... Again Thank you for sharing.
  18. Thx fellas for all the kind comments, Well since Im getting back in the swing of things I thought Id finish the window frames up with one more touch let me know what you think. again i'll let the pics do the talking The rest on the next page.......
  19. Tyrone this paint job is a simple mask and fade. You dont need a decal Im sure you could put it off. Simple instructions : 1. paint body white or white pearl (your choice) 2. fade you choice of blue on top of that 3. give time to dry , now mask that pattern off hit the body with a bright silver, then a sunset gold top coat. 4. pinstripe the borders Its really that simple, I almost wish I had found it first cause I sure would use it too LOL! I hope it works out for you Bro!
  20. This is an AWESOME project thanks for sharing it with us
