Going by the 1958-59 Chevies (and other GM cars, which mostly used the same white, except perhaps Cadillac), the white should be ever so slightly off-white, and may look more cream/ivory in color before drying. Scale Finishes and MCW use their respective paint manufacturer's mixing formulae (Dave at MCW uses PPG lacquer, Scale Finishes uses whoever makes their paint, I believe Jameson uses Sherwin-Williams, but I'm not sure). While the codes and final results might vary slightly, all the samples, regardless of paint type or manufacturer, should be probably within about a shade of each other. Charlie Larkin

I was always a little disappointed that Hudson didn't build a pickup on the Step-Down chassis. The proposals I saw were very nice-looking. Same with the wagons- looked similar to a Packard, but a little better-proportioned. Great execution, Curt. Charlie Larkin

If the paint had either a very base or very acidic composition, I could see that happening, as both extremes will affect aluminum (which is why SuperClean will dissolve aluminum- it's a lye-like solution, which is alkali (base)). Another solution I've found for foiling is to purchase MicroScale foil adhesive and use thin, cheap aluminum foil. While not as thin as BMF, it's nowhere near as fragile and works well for long strips like side-spears.Using this method, you can also make good paint masks, as the foil, burnished properly, seals the adjacent areas well. Just be sure to not let it sit too long on the model. Charlie Larkin

Nice job on those headers, indeed, Wayne. I've been doing Tamiya Gunmetal (acrylic bottle) with some Model Master Acryl Rust more-or-less dry-brushed on (just a hair more paint than dry-brushing), and they look like fairly new exhaust manifolds. This kit seems like a real mixed bag- I'm very reluctant to get one because of that roof, but from what I've seen, it does build up nicely otherwise. Charlie Larkin

Looking good, Chris. That silver/black pattern decal looks surprisingly good with a beige interior, and will go well with the red. It's nice to have a wife (or girlfriend) that actually encourages building. I might end up with one of those myself, someday. Charlie Larkin

Actually, AMC had finally gone to open drive by 1967 for most of the cars. I think Rambler Americans kept torque-tube to the end, but I'm not sure. I'd go with a blue interior for that. The blue AMC had was a dark, bright blue. Testors Sea Blue with a couple of drops of white will get you in the ballpark. Nice build so far. Charlie Larkin

Okay, so it's a little after the weekend, but while the Chrysler is stripping off (and probably about ready now), I've been poking at my Revell 1950 Olds. Not a bad kit overall. It will definitely look nice when it's put together. The engine is almost ready for decaling The lettering on the chassis was supposed to be gone. It is now! One more coat of primer, and this time, perhaps I'll use flat black instead of semi-gloss black. Oops. Charlie Larkin
